What’s New for the 2027 Toyota Sequoia
Toyota’s beefy full-size SUV is refreshed for 2027 with subtle exterior styling changes and a range of spec updates. A 14-inch infotainment display is now standard, while there’s a new Trailhunter package for better off-road capability at an entry-level price point. There’s also an updated suspension for TRD Pro models, as well as a new exterior paint option called Honeycomb that’s exclusive to the TRD Pro trim level.
Design
The Sequoia, a brawny large SUV, has an updated front end for 2027. The front bumper gets a redesigned lower section while the LED light bar on the grille has better output, and Rigid fog lamps are newly available. Chrome now enhances some trim levels. The Sequoia comes standard with 18-inch wheels and all-season tires, and is available with 20- and 22-inch wheels, as well as all-terrain tires and premium BBS wheels.
Powertrain
The Toyota Sequoia is available with just one powertrain, which carries over unchanged for the 2027 model year. The engine is a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6, which combines with an electric motor for standard hybrid power and a combined 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission drives either the rear wheels (RWD) or all four wheels (4WD). Power is more than adequate, but the Sequoia feels every bit as heavy as it is, particularly in terms of handling. Fuel economy estimates are as high as 22 mpg combined for RWD versions—that's better than most competitors—and dip to 20 mpg combined with 4WD. It’s rated to tow up to 9,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Interior
The Toyota Sequoia seats up to eight across its three rows. Standard features include cloth upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, a second-row bench seat with tumble-forward access to the third row, and a third-row bench seat with power-folding capability. Options include synthetic leather or genuine leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and second-row captain’s chairs with heating and ventilation. Cargo space falls short of other large SUVs, measuring 11.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 49 cubic feet with the third row folded, and up to 86.9 cubic feet with the third and second rows folded.
Technology
The 2027 Sequoia gets the latest version of the Toyota infotainment system, now standard with the 14-inch display that was optional last year. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a built-in dash cam that can automatically capture 20-second clips of specific events. A digital key is available.
