What’s New for the 2027 Nissan Pathfinder
The 2027 model year marks the Nissan Pathfinder’s 40th anniversary and a new Special Edition arrives to commemorate the occasion. The Special Edition features red exterior accents, most notably the “Pathfinder” badging that spans the rear, and the cabin is an homage to late-’80s splendor with burgundy and black two-tone upholstery and burgundy dash panels. Otherwise, the Pathfinder carries over unchanged, following a refresh for 2026.
Design
The Nissan Pathfinder is a three-row midsize SUV with a design that’s fairly typical for the class. The front end commands most of the attention, particularly the angular vents just above the grille and the mix of materials and textures, though the bold rear fascia helps keep the overall design in balance. The Pathfinder comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels and is available with 20-inch wheels. The Rock Creek model adds all-terrain tires and exclusive badging for more differentiation.
Powertrain
The Nissan Pathfinder uses the same powertrain across the lineup. The 3.5-liter V6 engine is rated for 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, and it comes paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard across the lineup and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available; the Rock Creek, however, gets AWD standard. Note that in some of Nissan’s marketing materials, AWD models are marked as 4WD.
The Pathfinder can tow 3,500 pounds in its base configuration and is capable of towing up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped. Both FWD and AWD versions are rated for gas mileage of up to 23 mpg combined, though the Platinum and Rock Creek drop to 22 and 21 mpg combined, respectively.

Interior
The Pathfinder is a three-row SUV with seating for eight in its base configuration, though the second-row bench can be swapped for captain’s chairs for a seven-occupant layout. Standard features include cloth upholstery and manually adjustable front seats. Options include a panoramic moonroof, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, premium upholstery, and a choice of power- or hands-free power liftgates.
Cargo space is above average for the class, though some rivals still offer a lot more. The Pathfinder stows 16.6 cubic feet of gear beneath the rear liftgate. Capacity increases to 45 and 80.5 cubic feet, respectively, with the third- and second-row seats folded.
Technology
Nissan equips the Pathfinder with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Lower trims get a 7-inch instrument cluster, and higher trims feature a digital 12.3-inch cluster. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a six-speaker stereo system. Options include wireless charging and a 13-speaker Bose stereo.
