What’s New for the 2027 Jeep Gladiator
The Gladiator has been on the market since the 2020 model year, and the basic design has changed little. A refresh in 2024 brought subtle styling revisions up front and an upgraded interior with an improved infotainment screen. Since then, Jeep has been slowly rolling out a series of limited-edition models. We’ve already seen the Willys ‘41, Shadow Ops, 85th Anniversary Edition, Whitecap, Rockslide, and retro-fantastic Rewind. For 2027, Jeep launches the Gladiator Sarge with a military-inspired theme inside and out. The Sarge’s two-tone Drab Green and Cattle Tan interior is exclusive to the model, and its ‘41 Green exterior highlights make it stand out from the rest of the lineup.
Design
The Jeep Gladiator is basically a four-door Wrangler with an extended wheelbase and a five-foot truck bed. It casts a unique profile, but the seven-slot grille is a classic Jeep feature. The fact that Gladiator owners can open their trucks to the elements with a removable roof and doors and a windshield that folds down mean Jeep’s pickup has unmatched visibility when driving on tight trails. The new-for-2027 Gladiator Sarge is offered with unique ‘41 Green-painted wheels, grille, and hardtop (white is also an option). A set of 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires comes standard, along with steel Rubicon rock rails with body-colored fender flares for protection from rocks and other off-road debris.
Powertrain
The only engine offered in the 2027 Jeep Gladiator is a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available since the six-speed manual was dropped a year ago, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard. Rumors of a V8 engine remain abundant, but Jeep has not committed to putting a Hemi in the Gladiator as it has in the Wrangler. Properly equipped, the 2027 Jeep Gladiator can tow up to 7,700 pounds, matching the best in the midsize truck class. The Gladiator’s payload maxes out at 1,720 pounds, but some models with a lot of options have lower ratings.
Interior
Despite the Gladiator’s old-school looks, the interior is modern and full of up-to-date features and materials. Buyers who appreciate real buttons and dials will find what they’re looking for in the 2027 Gladiator, as its squared-off upright dashboard is full of them. Of course, there’s a touchscreen-based infotainment screen, as well. There’s a good amount of room for adults in the front and rear outboard seats. The rear seat can be folded upright, revealing a nice storage area below.
Technology
A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits in the center of the dashboard, and it runs Jeep’s well-sorted UConnect software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. In addition to on-road navigation, Jeep equips the Gladiator with integrated off-road trail guides that help owners find and plan off-road excursions on nearby trails. An off-road trailcam that points forward toward the ground is also available and helps drivers see obstacles ahead.
