Midsize luxury SUV buyers willing to sacrifice some space for style have several options, including the BMW X6, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Genesis is a relative newcomer to the segment, having launched the GV80 Coupe alongside the refreshed and more traditionally shaped GV80 SUV in 2025, and it matches its competitors with a sleek fastback roofline and premium detailing.

What’s New for the 2027 Genesis GV80 Coupe
Genesis made several small packaging changes for 2027, renaming the base GV80 Coupe 3.5T AWD (all-wheel drive) to 3.5T Advanced AWD. Several features were dropped in the base model, including a microfiber headliner, heated front console, power second-row seats, rear ventilated seats, soft-close doors, digital rearview mirror, active noise control, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a so-called Mood Curator that allows users to set the interior’s tone with switchable colors, sounds, and even scents. All those features are still available in other GV80 Coupe models, and the reduction in equipment lowered the base price by several thousand dollars. The Korean automaker’s Ergo-Motion seat is now offered for the front passenger. In addition to the packaging updates, the 2027 GV80 loses Capri Blue and Mauna Red exterior colors and gains Ceres Blue and Ceres Blue Matte. The Sevilla Red and Obsidian Black interior colors, previously available across the range, are now offered solely in the 3.5T e-SC Prestige AWD model, and there’s a new Spun Aluminum interior trim in the 3.5T Advanced AWD model.
Design
Compared to the GV80 SUV on which it's based, the Genesis GV80 Coupe loses a bit of practicality—not to mention the SUV’s optional third row of seats—but gains a sportier exterior. The rakish roofline plunges into an integral spoiler at the rear, and the GV80 Coupe gets unique 20- and 22-inch wheels, additional exterior brightwork, and redesigned taillights. At the front sits Genesis’ large crest grille, which is bracketed by the automaker’s signature two-line headlamps. In Prestige Black trim, Genesis darkens the GV80 Coupe’s exterior with black wheels that feature floating center caps, along with dark headlamp surrounds, exterior trim, and badges.
Powertrain
Genesis offers two versions of its twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine in the 2027 GV80 Coupe. The engine in base 3.5T Advanced AWD models produces 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, while 3.5T e-SC Prestige AWD and 3.5T e-SC Prestige Black AWD models feature an electric supercharger that pushes power to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the power to all four wheels. The EPA estimates the GV80 Coupe at 17 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined. Properly equipped, the 2027 Genesis GV80 Coupe can tow up to 6,000 pounds.
Interior
Though cargo space drops from 36.5 cubic feet behind the GV80’s second row to 29.3 cubic feet in the GV80 Coupe (and from 71.7 to 61.1 cubic feet with the GV80 Coupe’s second row folded), headroom for second-row passengers is only down 0.8 inches due to the fastback roofline. Shoulder room is down by 0.5 inches, too, but there’s still a decent amount of room for a pair of adult passengers in the back. Leather seating surfaces are standard in the Genesis GV80 Coupe, and the Prestige Black model’s exclusive quilting lends a high-end feel. That model also gets dark interior trim and Black Ash Walnut highlights.
Technology
The GV80 Coupe comes standard with an impressive 27-inch OLED widescreen display that integrates a digital gauge cluster and the car’s touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are all standard. Also standard are a rear-view camera, a surround-view caera system, remote-parking assist, and a head-up display that projects information onto the windshield in front of the driver. A Bang & Olufsen audio system with 18 speakers is also standard.
