What’s New for the 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma
The Genesis GV60 has been around since 2023, but the high-performance Magma variant is brand new for the 2027 model year. With its boosted power output, aerodynamic bodywork, and wide tires that provide enhanced traction and grip, the GV60 Magma represents the Korean automaker’s first dedicated high-performance model. The Magma treatment is likely to spread to other vehicles in the company’s portfolio in the coming years.
Design
The 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma is fitted with several aggressive exterior enhancements, including canards (or winglets) on the front bumper, a rear spoiler—also featuring winglets—and front fender breathers. A set of 21-inch forged wheels with a dark matte finish is included in the package and is shod with unique Pirelli tires. In addition to the signature Magma Orange paint, Genesis will offer the GV60 Magma in Uyuni White, Vik Black, and Makalu Gray Matte colors.
Powertrain
All Genesis GV60 Magma models are equipped with a pair of electric motors, providing standard all-wheel drive (AWD). Power output can reach up to 641 horsepower and 580 pound-feet of torque when operated in Boost mode, which is activated for bursts via a button on the steering wheel. When Boost mode is disengaged, the motors still crank out an impressive 600 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. The GV60 Magma can run from 0-60 mph in about 3.4 seconds. In addition to the Boost mode that operates in 15-second intervals, unique technologies designed to offer extra driver engagement include a virtual gear shift that simulates the feel of a traditional transmission, GT and sprint modes that vary the car’s dynamics, launch control for maximum acceleration performance, a drift mode that’s designed for smoky antics on closed circuits, and e-Active Sound Design Plus that pumps virtual engine sounds into the Magma’s interior cabin. Expect a range of between 220 and 230 miles when the 2027 GV60 Magma officially hits the market.
Interior
The GV60 Magma features new high-performance bucket seats upholstered in a monotone Obsidian Black suede with Magma Orange stitching. The steering wheel features Boost and Magma buttons that the driver can use to alter drive modes. While the Magma has the same digital gauge cluster and infotainment screens as other GV60 models, the software has been tweaked for a more performance-oriented vibe. Heated and ventilated front seats come standard in the GV60 Magma. There’s plenty of room up front for two adults, and while the rear seat isn’t exactly cavernous, it’s comfortable for a couple of passengers. With the rear seat in place, cargo space measures 24 cubic feet and expands to 54.7 cubic-feet with the rear seatback folded flat.
Technology
A very large 27-inch OLED display is split between the digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen. Genesis’ infotainment software is relatively straightforward to use, and both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. Due to the car’s Connected Cloud Platform, the GV60 Magma offers real-time navigation routing, natural voice recognition, and over-the-air software updates. A 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system is standard, as is a head-up display that projects information onto the windshield directly in the driver’s line of sight.
