What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban
The Suburban gets only minor changes for 2026 after a refresh for 2025. The most significant update is an RST Dark Essentials package that comes with 24-inch black wheels, black mirror caps, and black badges. Polar White Tricoat is a new exterior color, and there is a new 22-inch bright split-spoke wheel design. Changes for 2025 included a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and revised interior and exterior designs.
Design
The Suburban is essentially an extended-wheelbase version of the Tahoe, and the two wear similar duds. With its truck-like, body-on-frame platform, the Suburban sits tall and blunt, with a boxy look. The grille rises high off the ground, with rows of horizontal slats and a Chevrolet bow tie at its center. The headlights and air intakes are integrated with the grille, and an element of each front fender intrudes below the headlights. The tall flanks get black rocker panels and a low-set character line to alleviate some of the slab-sided look. The rear end has a roof spoiler, a full-width taillight, and quad exhaust outlets. The RST and Z71 get black grilles, and the Z71 adds red front tow hooks. Wheel sizes range from 18 to 24 inches.
Powertrain
The Suburban comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. High-end models get a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and an optional 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel delivers 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) comes standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) with a two-speed transfer case is available with all trim levels. The lone transmission is a 10-speed automatic and fuel economy tops out at 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, 23 mpg combined with the diesel engine and RWD. Opting for the diesel and 4WD drops those figures to 20/24/22 mpg, while the 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 15/20/17 mpg with RWD and 14/19/16 mpg with 4WD. The 6.2-liter V8’s ratings are 15/19/16 mpg with RWD and 14/18/16 mpg with 4WD. The Suburban can tow up to 8,200 pounds, and available towing features include an integrated trailer brake controller, reverse hitch guidance, trailer sway control, and blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage. While it has low-range gearing, most Suburban variants aren’t meant as off-roaders because they’re simply too big. However, the Z71 gets front and rear skid plates and all-terrain tires.

Interior
The Suburban can seat up to nine people across its three rows with an available front bench seat. Cloth upholstery comes standard, as do a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a manually adjustable front passenger seat, two-way power lumbar adjustments for both front seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Moving up the lineup brings a power front passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory, leather upholstery, power-folding second- and third-row seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, a heated steering wheel, a dual-pane sunroof, and a power liftgate. Second-row captain’s chairs are available, reducing capacity to seven passengers. Cargo space is voluminous, with 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 93.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and a massive 144.5 cubic feet behind the first row.
Technology
The Suburban is a big vehicle with big screens. It comes standard with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs Google built-in. Also standard are navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, a satellite radio trial, and a six-speaker audio system. Available features include a 10-speaker Bose CenterPoint audio system, a head-up display, and a wireless phone charger. OnStar Basics is also standard and includes real-time traffic and navigation, voice commands, remote commands, and automatic crash response.
