The Chevrolet Equinox EV is a compelling entry point to the electric SUV segment. First introduced for the 2024 model year, the Equinox EV may not be as extroverted as the Blazer EV with which it shares a showroom floor, but it’s offered in both front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations, is spacious and attractive (without looking like a spaceship as some electric cars do), and isn’t prohibitively expensive compared to the competition.

What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV
Introduced in 2024 and updated in 2025 with a small power bump and simpler trim levels, there aren’t any major changes to the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV. A new Polar White exterior color, replacing a different white shade, was added to the electric SUV’s palette, and the availability of two-tone paint combos with black or white roofs was adjusted.
Design
The Chevrolet Equinox EV isn’t styled in a way that shouts that it’s an electric vehicle. It’s built atop a General Motors platform with a long wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs. While not overtly sporty, the 2026 Chevy Equinox EV looks sleek and modern, with thin lighting strips and distinctive detailing where a gas-powered car’s grille would normally be. The Equinox EV RS model’s blacked-out exterior trim and 21-inch black wheels make it look more aggressive than the two LT models.
Powertrain
Chevrolet offers the 2026 Equinox EV with two powertrains. Models with FWD are powered by a single electric motor that produces 220 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. With AWD, the Equinox EV gains a second electric motor that boosts total system power to 300 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque. All Equinox EV models use the same battery pack. In base form with FWD, the 2026 Equinox EV can travel up to 319 miles. Equinox EV models in LT trim and with AWD are reduced slightly to 307 miles per charge, and RS models with 21-inch wheels and AWD are expected to deliver 285 miles of range. When equipped with a hitch, the Equinox EV can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Interior
The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV’s dashboard is dominated by digital screens, but thankfully, there are physical dials for the climate control system. Black cloth seats are standard on the base LT 1 trim level, while the LT 2 adds two-tone leatherette interiors in either black and light blue or gray and light blue. RS models feature either black leatherette with red accents or a full two-tone black-and-red combination. There’s plenty of room inside the 2026 Equinox EV for four adult passengers, with good head and legroom. There’s 26.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, or with those seats folded, as much as 57.2. Those are solid figures that compare well with other electric SUVs in the Equinox EV’s segment.
Technology
There’s a large, clear digital instrument cluster in front of the driver, but the Equinox EV’s interior focal point is really the massive 17.7-inch touchscreen that sits in the center of the dashboard. Chevy’s infotainment system uses Google built-in technology, and features such as Google Maps and the Google Assistant are easy to use. Buyers accustomed to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, however, will be disappointed to learn that the Equinox EV does not support them.
