The fourth and current-generation Audi S8 debuted for the 2020 model year and serves as the German automaker’s top-shelf sedan. With plenty of room inside, tons of tech features, and a twin-turbo V8 that sends 563 horsepower to all four wheels, the 2026 Audi S8 is one of the best premium sedans around. It competes with formidable rivals such as the BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

What’s New for the 2026 Audi S8
The S8 received a comprehensive update for the 2022 model year and Audi streamlined its list of optional packages for 2026. A new Executive Plus Package combines the contents of last year’s Luxury and Executive Packages, and includes the manufacturer's high-tech digital matrix LED headlights, heated and ventilated rear seats with massage functions, heated rear armrests, and more.
Design
With its imposing grille, there’s no mistaking the 2026 S8 for anything other than an Audi. The 21-inch wheels completely fill the fender openings, and the standard red brake calipers hint at the luxury sedan’s high-performance credentials. Adding the Black Optic Plus Package blacks out the grille, badging, mirror housings, and wheels.
Powertrain
The 2026 Audi S8 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 563 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi claims a 0-60 mph time of just 3.8 seconds and, in addition to quattro all-wheel drive (AWD), the S8 comes standard with all-wheel steering for greater maneuverability at low speeds and improved stability at high speeds. A rear differential continuously adjusts the torque split between the back wheels, and the Audi Drive Select system can be set to Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, or Individual modes.

Interior
With its powerful V8 engine and AWD drivetrain, enthusiasts may prefer the S8’s driver’s seat over any alternative. However, with the S8’s available Executive Plus and Luxury Rear Seat Packages, sitting in the back is an awfully enticing option, though the latter cuts total capacity from five to four. With plenty of room and heating, ventilation, power adjustability, and massaging functions, the second row promises to keep occupants comfortable. The Luxury Rear Seat Package adds a full-length leather console with folding tables, footrests for both rear passengers, a power outlet, and an extra airbag that’s mounted between the outboard seating positions. Audi offers three Valcona leather upholstery options, all with diamond stitching patterns.
Technology
The Audi S8 features two touchscreen displays in the center of the dashboard. A 10.1-inch unit sits atop a secondary 8.6-inch lower touchscreen. Another 12.3-inch screen displays Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster, and a head-up display projects information directly onto the car’s windshield in front of the driver. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, while true audiophiles can opt for an upgraded 23-speaker package. Predictive Active Suspension is optional and uses a front-mounted camera to scan the road ahead and preemptively smooth out the ride.
