the engine was not big, but it has enough power for my taste of driving. good
fuel economy, and low cost maintenance. second hand have a cheap asking
price. very fun to drive, just like I was using my own hands and feet.Nov 04, 2011

The Toyota Corolla has the highest reliability of any car i've ever driven. This model in particular has run for 30 Years and is still going!!! For a young driver it is safe and shall get you from A to B without a hassle but, it wont get you there and 100mph. However the Fuel Economy, Maintenance, Registration and Insurance costs are very good for a first car buyer and i strongly recommend this carr for first time drivers and/or young driversOct 30, 2011

Great little car. Peppy even with an automatic
and the rear wheel drive is great fun! Kind of
sucks to drive on the freeway as it'll do about
80 with your foot in the floor. However, if
the speed limit is in the 65 or less range
unlike here, this car is perfect. It rides
smooth as glass clear up to 70, just a bit
noisy.Jan 24, 2011

REALLY WELL BUILT.... I mean it lasted that long with just some clutches,
tires, oil, brakes, and of course gasoline. It did get dismal fuel economy
in its old age, like 16-17 city. This is bad considering its size and engine
displacement, but hey it was old. It was really fun to ride around in as a
kid: loud, unique, my dad let us move the shifter for him, etc.Dec 17, 2010

This was a base model liftback. Had it for 15 years, and put 105,000 miles on it.
Not a particularly memorable car. It was good enough at just about everything, really good at nothing. The handling was typical for a Japanese compact of the time, seat comfort was pretty lousy, storage space was very good. It was light in the back, which made going up a hill in wet weather a dicey proposition.
One thing I liked, and missed, was the boxy shape of cars of that era: I knew exactly where the front and rear were, and could confidently parallel park it in very tight spaces.
It was, overall, a reliable car. I compromised it late in its life by using aftermarket parts, but it still kept going. I finally got rid of it because I was in my forties and tired of driving an entry-level car.May 06, 2010

I don't like the American bumper they are too long,I prefer the Japanese type. The braking system is good when I upgraded it.yes its a fun car to drive especially when I am going side way. When going side way it really shows how well it handle.May 05, 2010

Not very fast, it's old, but I like how it looks, and I think as I
improve some of the parts it should be quite enjoyable to
drive. I've had to replace/fix some things that have worn out,
but all in all, it's worked well for me.Oct 17, 2009

The best I ever had, I went to Florida with it with my family, it never turned off on me. I really miss that car, too bad it got stolen from me. Oh, and the car is super fun to drive.Aug 22, 2009

Engine never stops running, the carb gives it quite a lil power with the secondary jets. Never breaks down on me. One day itll look like new again! Its super fun to drive and i put at least 100 miles a week on it because i cant go more then a few days without driving it.Feb 04, 2009

It has lasted 31 years, and I think it will last another decade. With routine
maintenance, the car surprises all passengers with better-than-expected
acceleration and the maneuverability through traffic. A fun
weekend car, but not expected to cross the country. Don't count on a
spacious back seat, overall you'd be amazed at the durability of this car.Sep 02, 2008

It was not very powerful as a car, it had an 1.3 liter engine, but it had a 4 gear transmission with lots of response. The main advantage was that it was rear drive so as a teenager I used to drive sideways. My God it was good fun. I finally wrecked it a few years ago in a car accident that nearly cost me my legs.Jul 01, 2008

This was my favorite car EVER!!! I would shove 10 of my closest friends in the back and drive for miles on $5 worth of gas! of course, gas was less than a buck ;-) I learned how to change oil, tune up the spark plugs and fix a flat. I also learned how to do burnouts and fishtails!Mar 07, 2008

Originally came with a 1.3 litre engine, 4 speed manual 165/80/13 tyres. After all was said I done, I modified it with a DOHC 1.6 L Engine 5 speed manual with Modified Camshafts, Mikuni 40s Side Draft Carburetors, Hi-Flow Headers and Exhaust System, Suspension Modifications and 215/50/13 tyres. Very cool performance for its time. My first "sleeper". :) Mar 05, 2008

If you want to look retro with a low budget, I recommend this car because the mainanence is quite easy and almost every mechanic you meet can handle the simple Toyota 3K engine.Feb 27, 2008

Bought the car for $1,200 used, put 80K miles on it and sold it for $600. The RWD worked well in snow, got good mileage, and was relatively easy to keep running despite the fact that it had a million miles of vacuum lines that leaked that made diagnostics a PITA. That being said, it was a great little car for its intended purpose.Feb 11, 2008

Thanks to the 170hp supercharged 1587cc 4A-GZE engine, my KE55 Corolla REALLY goes. Once the brakes and handling are sorted out, the engine will be modified to give more power.Jan 14, 2008

What was initially a real nana-mobile has been transformed into a fire-breathing nana-mobile with an engine transplant (4AGZE) and a bunch of other suspension and performance modifications. Old-skool Corollas rock!Jan 03, 2008

1981 Corolla Sedan. 1300 i think. For what it is it goes pretty well. Good brakes, not the greatest pickup. Not bad looking either.Dec 27, 2007

A great car in these times of high gas prices. The electric carb is a low point of the vehicle although it is flawless when woking properly. Dec 21, 2007

I LOVED THIS CAR!!! it was the first car I ever owned and it was awesome, the best car you could have. However, I was involved in a car accident and lost my little love car. I miss it so much, but I guess everyone misses there first car. Nothing will ever replace that car, it was the greatest. Toyotas are good cars!Mar 16, 2007
