She's currently in the "fix-up" status but she will be great when I'm done with her. She handles great at slower speeds (she is 21 years old..). Love the tail-gate, and the rear lowering window. Not a looker, but I plan to drive the americas with it, so the red door and minor rust will have me fitting in a little better as a gringo.Dec 01, 2013

I love my 4runner, it has been good to me for many years. Mine is hitting 320000 miles and still runs like new. Gas mileage is not that bad for an SUV. I have the manual transmission so when theres traffic it is a pain sometimes. Although it is not a powerful car but for driving its perfect and handling is great, feels like your driving a small car, I never get a sense of roll over on sharp turns. As long as you take care of the it, it will take care of you. Once you own one you start loving it!Apr 11, 2013

great, reliable, and fun car to drive, particularly in the snow. pick-up style tailgate and a truck frame makes the truck very useful and utilitarian. a little tight in the driver seat for someone over 6'4", but otherwise a perfectly sized truck!Mar 18, 2013

Like: Performance, Handling, Appearance, Fun to Drive, Great at 4WD, Well maintained, Quite Loud for a 4 Cylinder, Awesome Speakers,Colour, Hieght Clearance, Is a Toyota, is a Great Starter Car.
Dislike: Little Rough, Not very fast, Towing capasity not very high, Doesn't Beat the Landcruiser though.Mar 26, 2011

Rear antilock braking
Wet-weather traction (4WD)
Passenger and cargo room
It's a work horse, it can go anywhere, 4x4 is great, plenty of space, big chunky tires, reliable, and its high off the ground.
with minimal non-essential maintenance. Not the greatest on a hill! But then again, put it in 4wd and it zips up a snow covered hill just fine.

Great for off-road driving, handles like a dream. real bargain for the price I bought. Longevity of the vehicle is surprising. Not too bad on the eyes, but worth the beating up. This truck will take anything you throw at it!Aug 29, 2009

Powerful V6 Engine. Add a Cold Air intake and you can get an anwesome sound. Not very fast, although it is a heavy 4x4. All made in iton, with chrome bumpers. Very solid, stable, fun to go off-roading. Has never failed me. Jun 26, 2009

I drove this one for around 2years before my half sister borrowed it and killed it while I was in bootcamp. great off road and bad weather, decent on road, not alot of power, but you don't really need it with going where this baby does. the back seats fold down for more storage, good for a small matress in the woods for "camping" lolMay 22, 2009

they are awesome. not too big and definitelt not too small. have taken it many places. the only let down is the independent front suspesion, but it is great for on the road. off the road it could use a bit more articulation, but hey- as an all rounder it keeps up with the best of 'em.Sep 05, 2008

It's expensive to run but it starts first time every time and I feel safe in it.
It's a little sluggish but acceleration isn't what this car is about. It has a lot of torque and feels like it could pull a train.
It is also very comfortable on a long journey and (for an old car) it's a good looking vehicle.Aug 18, 2008

A fantastic car to own and drive. At almost 160,000 miles the biggest problem is a rust, which is not bad considering it is a daily driver in Saltyroads, USA. Seemly a head gasket is broken, and it does start hard and burn oil, but it still runs like a champ. This beast has gotten me through many tough spots, both on ice and in ditches, and has plenty of room to haul anything you could possibly need to haul. I would drive this before any other "SUV" or "Truck" Has more miles in it before i drive anything else!Aug 07, 2008

It was a good, cheap starter car but I'm not sure I would trade it for my jeep.Apr 05, 2008

Although the acceleration is at the lower end of the spectrum, my 4Runner handles like a car when cornering and the braking is excellent. I havent had to replace many stock engine parts (although I have, just to make it more efficient). The engine runs good even in sub-zero (Butte) weather. The front make funny noises when heating up in the winter. It has a great paint job, good suspension for on and off-roading. Once you understand the mass of vaccuum hoses, it's easy to work on since it is ODB-1 and parts are relatively easy to find even though it's foreign. It can fit places that full-size trucks can't and has enough power and gears to go anywhere.Mar 20, 2008

I like toyotas. They get good gas mileage and can run forever. The only real problem that I have found is that they rust very easy. Other than that great vehicle.Dec 04, 2007

I bought this truck brand new in 1994 and have loved driving it every single day. It's my family vehicle,my load it up and drag it home from Home Depot vehicle, countless daily errand runner, moms taxi service, my feed, hay and horse equipment delivery vehicle and everything else in between.I'm totally lost without "him" if he's having any repair work done at the dealers. One of the things that I love the best about this truck is that it has a 5 speed in it.Unfortunately, Toyota does not offer this option any more (I find automatics boring and not fun to drive) So, I guess I'll have to keep this guy going for me as long as I can. It's my real workhorse!Jan 04, 2007

I had the Medalist Edition that came with factory wheel flares, rear spoiler with LED brake lights,air,leather,AM/FM tape and CD player in other words it was loaded.
The gas milage was the pits and as for exceleration forget it but it was VERY reliable and was in the shop only for regular maintanence and the recall on the head gasket.Oct 13, 2006
