The 993 is my favorite car. I owned one years ago and knew I would get another one some day. I stumbled on this one almost by accident. Very low mileage (39K) for a 28 year old car. The paint, leather and soft top are in perfect condition. I love the air-cooled engine and the cars handling. A joy to drive.Jan 20, 2024

Your picture is of a 993 Turbo. I own a 1998 911 Carrera 2S, manual transmission, which has the same body, but not as powerful. These cars are spectacular and expensive for that reason. One of the best air cooled cars. Buy one if you can find a good one!!Feb 05, 2021

One of the most beautiful cars ever. A very analog, connected driving experience. The car handles superbly and is very solid and comfortable. Acceleration is not head snapping but keep your eye on the speedometer because you will be going way faster than you realize very quickly. The craftmanship on this hand built car is world class. One of the most collectible Porsche 911 cars you can buy (993)! Best and last of the air cooled 911 Models. They are expensive and will get more so. If you are fortunate enough to drive one you will quickly see why they are valued as they are.May 23, 2020

I Like its beauty....and acceleration....You will feel proud to own this baby....I bought this beauty in 1998 and has been on the family since then....Both kids used it during their MBA studies (or fun time?) and loved it....
Dislike - High maintenance cost..... too difficult to work on - DIY out of question...
Overall I can say this beauty is priceless..... can't look at wallet all the time....live with proud spirit....and don't worry be happy....Apr 24, 2014

Great looks from every angle , charcoal gray is my favorite color on this model. Build quality is very good Germans are the best at that. Maintenance is price but what do you expect you don't drive a Honda or a Toyota .Performance wise very happy for that year lots of fun to drive.Aug 31, 2013

No dislikes . Lovve everything about it . I use it everyday for commuting to work, taking kids to school, going to groceries even to SAMS CLUB. What else do you want from a car. Okay maybe its not the best car for snow Feb 24, 2013

Loved the handling, control, speed, and sheer elegance and sleekness of it. The body style has all the curves of what a true sports car should have. When you take a rid in this car you understand why people rave about Porsche.Jan 11, 2012

With 272 horse power this car can still hold it's self to the new boy,
and with less tech this is one of the lightest base 911's ever. With
looks that the 997 is trying to have but can't get a grasp on the 993 is
not a car you have to drive but just look at it. The 993 generation was
the most important gen of all the 911's, it was the first to have a bi-
turbo, four wheel drive turbo, gt2 model, and much more. If you buy
a 993 it will cost more that a newer faster 996, but the 996 was ugly
and did not have the feel at the wheel the 993 had or the optional
radar detector that you could get under the dash. For many reasons I
would go for the 993 rather then the 996 over even 997.Apr 02, 2010

Superb acceleration between 100 - 200 km/h, excellent high speed cornering, nice & precise Brembo brake.
Excellent build quality, no repair needed for both interior and exterior. Cost of Ownership is quite high, she requires 12 liters of engine oil and comsumes 1 liter for every 1,000 km. Consumes a lot of gas!!! Sep 01, 2009

Fun every time you get in it, beautifully built, fantastic performance and handling and not too ridiculously expensive to run. The Targa roof gives you the best of open top running but without the security compromises and the TIPEC owners club is good fun too. Totally recommended! And if you think it's not hard core enough, my suggestion is to buy a crap everyday car, then only drive the Porsche for the good times. Then you'll never get anywhere near it's limits on the road and give yourself a thrill every time you use it.Sep 05, 2008

This is one of the last of the classic air-cooled 911's and rapidly becoming more collectable and valuable than the newer 996 water-cooled models. Its quite old fashioned in ergonomics and interior appearance, but once you get used to it its a great car. Not super-fast performance, but handles well enough for a cabriolet, especially if you fit a strut bar to stiffen the front.
Bullet proof build quality.Aug 10, 2008

There is nothing to dislike about this car, plenty of power, amazing grip, superb handling, solid build quality, turns heads wherever it goes and always puts a smile on my face. Clutchless gearchange takes a little getting used to but is rewarding when you have it sussed.
The only addition I am thinking about is a roll cage! Jul 22, 2008

What can I say, it's a 911 !! The 993 is the last (and
best) of the air cooled cars. My car is lowered with ride
height and alignment set to RS spec which greatly
improves handling and aesthetics. Next
up, 993 Turbo.Jul 13, 2008

I owned a 993C4S a few years ago and whilst looks-wise, with it's pumped up rear haunches, it was even more gorgeous, that car was nowhere near as nice to drive. This one handles, rides and steers as well superbly, combined with vault like build, wailing flat 6 and sheer speed....intoxicating :-)

The last of the handmade air-cooled Porsches. The new ones may be faster, but the 993
series Porsches are the best cars they ever built. Apr 09, 2008

1998 Porsche 911 C4S. Silver exterior, gray/black leather interior with fully electronic moving seats, seat warmers, sun roof, 4 wheel drive, turbo wheels, normally aspirated, it's the last air cooled porsche ever made.Mar 03, 2008

Buy 911 993 (1993-1997). Best car Porsche ever built.

This is one of the last air cooled 911 turbo's (993 series). I like its bold styling and iconic shape. With the 996 series (the next model) Porsche changed the formula and developed water cooled engines. Thus forcing them to design a longer front end to accommodate the radiators, losing some of the great proportions of the original 911s. More recent 911s (the 997 series) attempt to recapture the 993 series styling of the 993, with its round headlamps, clean front end, broad shoulders, and muscular rear end. Despite having been introduced over a dozen years ago, the 993 Turbo acheived 0-60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds (Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road & Track).Jan 21, 2008

This car is great and would love to own it. The one that I drove is the last car and a line of supercars that my uncle owned while he was alive. I didn't get to push the limits in it, so I"m not sure how great it is, but I'm sure it is very good if he owned it. Nov 12, 2007
