The 2001 Nissan Frontier SE-V6 Crew Cab is a Wonderful little truck, with a feisty little v6 under the hood provides 170HP and around 220 lb ft torque. The manual 5 speed is a very easy learner stick shift, but also is precise and reliable. The Short Bed is a little problem, but with the bed extender it works great for most loads. The roof rack looks great and is very useful, but Is extremely noisy in car wash dryers. The styling is very rugged and smooth at the same time, utilizing fender flares and fake rivets on the bumper and flares. The tailgate it basic and decently light, but had to replace the tailgate cables last year due to them snapping from rust. The plastic bed liner is very durable and handy because you never have to worry about a rusty bed. The basic four- spoke wheels with the center caps look rugged and sporty, but over time the plastic on the caps wears out and they fall off. No problem, because they are about 20$ for a pair on eBay. Another minor issue is, being a California and Arizona truck, the heat seemed to fuse the spare tire mounting bracket to the wheel. We needed to cut the bracket off, which is hard to find replacements for. Engine isn’t too noisy, but check engine light turns on and off every other week, and water pump is leaking coolant. All this is expected from a 180,000 mile vehicle, though. The interior is basic and stylish with gray pattern cloth seats and a smooth, compact dash. The tilt steering wheel, cruise control and steering wheel radio controls all come in handy. Clutch pedal is very soft and easy to control. Over all, the ‘01 Frontier is a very fun, dependable little truck.Feb 13, 2025

As a small to midsize truck, the D22 Frontier is an excellent blend of utility, style, functionality, and practicality. It wont win any races, but it will always get the job done. Dec 10, 2020

My friends who drove my truck would always remark about how quickly it accelerated! AND to me, compared to other trucks I have driven, this truck handled well - turned well, accelerated well, stopped pretty well. There are NO blind spots in this truck! With the tailgate down this truck has hauled two dirtbikes at once! And for three years in a row, it went to almost every USC home game as the tailgate vehicle. I was very happy with it, but I traded it in - sadly, it was time for me to move on and get something a little more sophisticated.Jan 13, 2014

I love this truck. It's my first truck and it's the absolute best. I was surprised at what good gas mileage we got when we drove up north from the Twin Cities and back. It's awful on gas in the cities. I've never felt safer in a vehicle before.Apr 22, 2013

This has been a good truck all around, mine has over 200K on it and still going good. I still get complements on it's looks. Find that I wish it had a taller overdrive gear. Nissan charges way to much for their parts but after markets are becoming very available. It tends to be a bit nose heavy, it is a pickup, 200lbs of sand bags in the bed make it very drive-able. Changing the #6 plug is insane, some engineer should be slapped. Mar 04, 2013

I love this truck, I use it as my daily driver and it always starts and in the 3 years I've had it I have never had an Issue with it. The only issue I have ever had is the fuel economy. For a small 3.3L V6 to get 15- 16 mpg i think is ridiculous. Especially considering the fact that the new 4.0L Frontier get about 19 mpg. Sep 11, 2012

I've now had this truck about 10 years and I love it. It's assisted in over 10 moves (4 of me to and from college), hauls firewood yearly, hauls tools;dirt;gravel and anything else necessary for my home improvement projects. I even recently hauled a half cubit yard of gravel in it (though I'll probably never have that much weight in it again). For a 4 cylinder (2.5 L), it's got good power and great mileage (lightweight truck). Brakes are good. I've even had it down plenty of trails and off road. It's done great (for a 2wd). Only things I've had to replace are the battery (2006, now an Optima battery) and the catalytic converter (2010).Feb 17, 2012

I purchased the truck new and enjoyed every mile between gas stations.
I was lucky to get over 200 miles per tank. This truck also reguires
premium fuel. Get past the fuel range and it was super dependable and
a good looker. The 21/2 inch Rancho lift and 1 inch offset rims gave a
better ride and look. This is a strong little truck and i am sad to see it go.Dec 24, 2011

Versatile, good bed size. 4 cyl engine very peppy. Fuel consumption so-so.
Maintenance costs good. Very stable handling both when empty and carrying a load. Could use snow tires/chains for traction in snowy or icy conditions.
Very sharp-looking, stylish. Oct 10, 2011

I love everything about my truck but am considering buying a jeep.
It has been very well maintained. Only has a little over 40,000 miles.
the truck had great acceleration and braking and handling.
I would feel very protected in an accident. With the short bed I can control parking much better in garages, etc. Has bed extender for hauling or going on trips to carry extra.Jun 20, 2011

All around great "small" truck. Supercharger really pulled when needed, the 4 doors made it more practical, the longbed gave me that extra room when making my Home Depot Runs and the 4WD came in handy if I ever needed to go up to the snow or take it off road.
This truck is best as a extra vehicle as I had mine as my daily driver which I commuted 20 miles to and from work. I figure I was getting about 18 MPG at best. With its turning radius, the crew cab and long bed parking in small parking lots was a aquired skillJan 07, 2010

I loved the appearance of this truck from the moment I saw it. The supercharger performs like a champ, especially when I installed the K&N Filter. 4WD comes in handy during the Tahoe Winter season! The longer bed seemed to be a hassle at first, but has since proven to be a necessity when hauling 4 guys' gear up the mountain. I love this truck!Sep 25, 2009

This truck broke some boundaries in its time with the four doors. It was
nice having four doors to haul my drum equipment around in. It was
stylish and it had a good stereo. Jun 02, 2008

The supercharger probably helps but it is hardly impressive, and I'm not sure it is designed to be. Even with the crew cab there is not a lot of room inside it. The matching colored leather seats are neat, but man...for my truck you REALLY gotta like the color yellow!Apr 21, 2008

decent, v6 lacks some power, yet it is the 4 speed transmission that not only kills mileage but acceleration as well. Yet, the car makes up for what it lacks in a firm suspension, easy ride height, and quick maneuverability. Mar 17, 2008
