The Altima has taken me all over the place. I'm surprised by how much stuff can really fit and yet the car can still operate the same. Although it's only a 2.4L engine it was designed as a truck motor so it has an abundance of torque and power for the size of the car. The SE model is nice with leather and moonroof which makes the drives comfortable.Apr 21, 2015

Overall this car is perfect for any beginner looking to start driving, or in my case the daily commute to and from work. The audio system in the car does leave something to be desired, but all in all it is a comfortable, and affordable way to get around.Mar 07, 2015

I love this car and feel that it will never let me down. With a new sound system and sunroof, I can go cruising down the road no problem in this car. The only things it lacks are stylish looks and more power.Jun 22, 2014

This is the first car I have ever purchased and it has lasted . It is really easy to drive, it has few mechanical problems and has great space for passangers and luggage. I like Nissans so I am proud of the fact that it is one tooFeb 20, 2014

I loved this car. I had it three years before my stupid misuse/under
maintenancing of the vehicle cracked the head.
I once got from Norman, Oklahoma to Austin, Texas with an eight to a quarter
tank to drive around with. She was extremely fuel efficient on the highway.
She seemed a little easy to spin out though, especially on bad tires.
great car...Mar 15, 2013

Laggy throttle but a tank of an engine that will handle much abuse.
Truck engine, so it's not dragged down by extra weight.
It's almost at 200k with no major motor or tranny work *knock on wood*
The seat cushions will deteriorate after a while without any way to adjust the seat
besides recline.Nov 10, 2011

Car drives awesome. Very reliable and comfy. I have had the car since july
2005 and have had minimal trouble with it. Leather seats, and custom low
profile wheels. Sun/Moon roof makes for a great drive in any weather.Apr 26, 2011

Most reliable car I've ever owned. One of 50 sold in the US with a manual transmission. At 146000 miles it still has the original clutch. No squeaks or rattles, and a great highway cruiser. My only gripe about this car is that it is rusting...bottom of passenger door is pretty bad Sep 29, 2010

Stock the acceleration is mild for a 4 cylinder after my build I have added over 60whp and 40wtq as well as upgrading the whole car. It has tokico shocks hawk brake pads, a rear disc swap. I swapped it from an auto to a standard transmission. The gas mileage is still excellent approx. 24 mpg highway. I have nismo interior seats. Soon I am hoping to add another 200hp and 200 tq.Sep 11, 2010

5 Star Quality / Performance / Reliability / Cost of Ownership / Fun
5 Star Overall - A Gem
Only two drawbacks: Seat angle is uncomfortablefor long drives, wide turning radius.
Still not tired of this car after 10+ years. Unbelievable that it has quicker acceleration and less road noise than many new cars I have been test driving (VW, Acura, Toyota - initial acceleration delays).Jul 07, 2010

Performance - acceleration is great, handles great, and great ABS
Build quality - I got it when it only had 75,000 miles on it and it now has 134,??? had to repair very little and low cost things with it.
Gas Mileage is great with it!Oct 17, 2009

I think the car fits me well. I think it is great for people who have kids and don't want the mini van. It has a large trunk and you can still add modifications to make it look sporty. It's a great car as long as you keep the right fluids in it and perform oil changes on time. Aug 12, 2009

I hate that there are no cheap spare parts. The main controller of the power windows is starting to fail, and the only option I have is the Official Dealership. A very fun car to drive, really. Very fast on the road.Jun 01, 2009

Originally a California car. Car never let me down. Had to replace a leaking valve cover gasket (existing problem) then right before I sold it, it needed new brakes and it needed the alternator rebuilt (due to faulty battery). Very reliable, torquey engine.Jan 29, 2009

My 2001 Altima GXE is the most reliable car I know of, as of know I've never had any serious issue's. It also has a potent 2.4L, and takes mods well. I currently have Stillen Rotors, H&R Pads, K&N filter, TYC euro tail lights, and a UR PulleySep 13, 2008

I Love It. It runs like a charm. It has 115,000 miles, but runs good. The o2 sensor is going, but hey? what so you expect after 115,000 miles? The car is fun to drive and is good on gas. I dont know what else to say. Its a great car.Sep 11, 2008

This car was the last good Altima built. It features standard options with leather, decent performance for a car of its class, and is very reliable. The car has been pushed hard, and yet never showed any problems. Acceleration from 0-60 is between 9-10 seconds, which was okay for its time. The handling and breaking is impressive for a FWD sedan in its class. The design still holds well for an 8-year-old car. The new Altimas improved in designs and performance, but Nissan has degraded the materials they use to a subpar level. There have also bee reliability issues with the newer models. This is unfortunate for a company that use to build such great vehicles. Overall, this is a great car and I hope Nissan can recover from its recent mistakes.Aug 11, 2008

Its my car...I mean whats to say? I drive this thing into the ground. It's a 4 banger so it doesn't have much power, but I still like to pretend it does. It's a fun little car to drive, it gets pretty decent gas mileage and it runs like its supposed to. Now that I have a consistent job, I can treat it as well as it's treated me. You know what I mean? I love my car for what it's worth. Its never given me any real problems, and I appreciate that. Nissan knows how to do cars well. I'd recommend a new or used one.Aug 06, 2008

Have owned the car for almost 100k now, 130k on the Odometer, and have done nothing but general maintenance. Starts every time, great gas mileage, and very comfortable. May 10, 2008

I only had this car for about 3 years, but loved it everyday I had it!
>> compact but still spacious, trunk space is great! seems like nissan cars all have large trunk space.
>> excellent acceleration, braking is good too, more hp than other cars its class for the same yr.
>> minimal maintenance, i think i just had the routine oil change and such when i had it.
>> the car had about 55k when i sold it, but was still running solid.
>> handling is solid, easy to change lanes, manuver around tight spaces, fast responseMar 28, 2008

Even after hitting a deer at 60 mph, I was able to drive the remaining 30 miles home at 3am in the morning. The radiator was toast, but the car never overheated.Jan 12, 2008
