This car is quick with the 2.4L MIVEC power plant. The FWD isn't the greatest, there ia a little torque steer on hard take offs, but not enough for very many people to notice. A LSD would go nicely up there. The handling around back road twists is very neutral. There are some curves that i was afraid to take the Z around at any sort of speed, those are the curves where the Lancer shines. This is a great performing car. The interior is pretty basic, one complaint is the lack of a map light, but it's no big deal. I have gotten around 23-24 MPG with mixed drivingOct 07, 2013

This is a good, reliable car that is built to last, is reliable, with low maintenance costs and good gas mileage. I have hardly had to put it in the shop at all and I have had it for five years.Dec 15, 2012

Great car. Japanies brand are always bulletproff. No matter how hard the conditions are it has always proved its good traction and handling. The only thing that created problems was when it was checked by the local machanic. Otherwise its lots of fun.Jun 03, 2012

Fun to drive with a great mid range pull. great comfort for long runs. easy to
maintain. Spec is not great. no mods done to it.got 35'000 miles out of one set of
Dunlops and still plenty of grip left.so it was cheap to run. no repairs to body work
no rattles or squeaks after 100,000 miles on clock. sorry I sold it. Jun 30, 2011

A nice alternative to the all too common civic or corolla. I would describe the acceleration as adequate (hence 3 stars for performance). Handling has a definite sporty feel. Understeers quite predictably. Easy to drive at the limit. Smooth clutch operation, but shifter lacks the precision of a Honda’s. It shifts smoothly, but just not perfectly. Nice brake feel, easy to modulate. ABS really not necessary since the brakes have a very direct feel. So, this is a fun little car!
Great mileage- 30+ on the highway. Just as with other small sedans, cost of ownership is very low. This is a practical, everyday car that has a bit of a sports car feel. If you are in the market for a civic, corolla, etc- don't forget to check out the lancer.

I love everything about this car. It's my first Mitsubishi and I'm
hooked. It may not have leather seats, heated seats, or dual climate
control but I wouldn't trade it for anything(except a newer ralliart or
evo of course). May 15, 2011

This car has lots of zoom power and because of it compactness can zip in and out of traffic well. The seating is a bit boxy, but for the price this is a good basic car to own. Gas mileage is good - average about 28MPG city and Highway. Stats reveals that this is a low cost maintenance car.Feb 26, 2011

Performance: 0-60 7 sec. Brakes like a dream. Can handle corners at .9g.
dont let the 120hp keep you from buying this. Mitsubishi knows how to gear their cars. This out accelerates several cars with even a v8 under their hood.
Build Quality: Everything is comfortable. Has needed no repairs at all. AMAZING SOUND SYSTEM.
35mpg!!!
like I said 0-60 in 7 seconds.. its fun to drive, fwd makes it easy to do "fun" things with.Sep 27, 2010

This is a fun city care, good in traffic. It has enough get up and go to have some fun, but it is no racer. It has nice rims and a keyless started added to it, both are just plus to its already cool appearence. Last but not least is the iPod jack and sweet sound system.Mar 02, 2010

I love driving this car. It was a great choice. Just needs more hp and a little street noise. I would like to upgrade to the 17 inch Enkei brand wheels like the Evo has..
Gas mileage is great, 27 city, 33 hwy!

Overall very good tuner car. If you want to put some money into the engine, your lancer will be quick, simple money over time is all that is needed.
Off the start they are decently quick but with improvements and a bit of money spent they are amazing cars. I love mine sooooo much.

I like my car. Its a five speed and fun to drive. She handles curves like a champ. I named her becky haha. I also love how cheap it is on gas. 28 miles to the gallon cant beat that.Oct 22, 2009

performance is neck snapping if not careful, fun car to drive! the 5 speed is especially fun to drive as its my first stick shift i ve owned. I m acctually going to modify the air filter and put a cold air filter on along with a custom catback to help the engine get better air flow and better hp like around 50 gain. everything on the car is well maintained and runs like a dream. plus the cost is only 10 grand for a nice car.Oct 08, 2009

Likes:
1)INVECS-III CVT sport gearbox
2)Air conditioning
3)Rear head room since my head touches the roof of civic
02-06.
4)More advanced suspension as compared to competing
vehicles. It has a coiled spring Multi-link Suspension which
is tuned to handle the car superbly and provide relief from
bumps simultaneously!
Dislikes:
1)Once you drive it, it doesn't leave anything to
dislike!!!!!!

It's a very good quality car. No real problems. It doesn't have the power as its older brother the evo but it's still enough to get around. The enigne is very torquey so its a very fun car to drive. Acceleration is better than per say a honda 4cyl. Braking is good. Handling in the LS is better than the es due to the upgraded suspension. Build quality is very good. Appearance of the interior is the same as the evo but without the boost/vacuum gauges and so on. The exterior has similiarities to the evo 7 but it still isnt exactly the same. Cost of ownership, Gas mileage with all the mods done to it is about 23 city maybe about 30 hwy. Maintenance is always a thing to do. I usually do everything myself so price really isnt a problem.Aug 06, 2009

Overall it's a decent car. It definitely looks nice, and it looks fast, and definitely performs well. Although it's the Oz-Rally edition trim, it's not the fastest car on the block. But the car does get great gas mileage, and handles really well thanks to the decent sportier tuned suspension compared to the lower trim levels.May 28, 2009

its quite agile. Good handleing. great acceleration. not the quickest car on the road but it definately could be with a little work. it costs a little bit to maintain with plates and all but it is definately worth it!May 13, 2009

I love getting Japanese quality for Korean prices. The Lancer gets passed up as an "off-brand" Japanese car, making used-car prices appealingly low. The thing's a blast to drive, even in automatic trim. It's peppy (for a small car) and relatively quiet. Cost of ownership is very low. Aside from regular oil /fluid changes and a timing belt swap at 120k, the car has not required any service.Apr 29, 2009

Just a super fun car to drive! It handles well, is dependable. It's reasonably priced in terms of maintainance. It has good gas millage if you drive it sensibly. It's a very fun car to drive. I absolutely love it!
And there's lots of after market things you can do to spiff it up in appearance and performance. Amazing car! Love it!Mar 07, 2009

I simply love this car. This car gives you really good gas mileage on the manual transmission plus with some modifications like the exhaust system increases the MPG even more. I find this car really fun to drive with incredible handling as it is lightweight with power steering. If you add little mods such as sway bars and stabilizer bars it gets even better plus with high performance tires you are good to go! Appearance in stock may not be that appealing but it is still has a nice clean look if you get yours in good condition from a trusted dealer. Last thing I have to say about this car is that it got lot of potential as there is lots of modifications out there for this baby as well as many vendors that specialize on Lancers so get one today and feel the power of an import tuner.Feb 22, 2009

This is my gorgeous 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralli Art. It has a 2.4L Mivec 4cyl. I have installed a injen cold air intake and a vibrant cat-back exhaust system. It also has an evo 8 spoiler and a front strut bar. Best car i have ever owned, and the most fun to drive. Great for drifting.Dec 22, 2008

Lows: Brake pads make noise when driving
on uneven pavement. Quite quiet at full throttle. It leans a lot trough fast curves, even when I know its not a sport version.
Highs: It gives me real 30 MPGavg!!!. Never fails, and its so roomy for its class. Amazing grip with standard slim tires.Oct 02, 2008

Performance - slow at times, but sufficient for regular driving and amazing handling after suspension upgrade
Build Quality - Durable and no problems yet
Appearance - See for yourself :)
Cost of Ownership - great gas mileage, cheap maintenance, parts readily available
Fun Factor - YES! lol
Definitely will consider buying another Lancer, maybe an EVO from the states? Aug 15, 2008

I love my car it came stock with a 2.4 litre engine pushing 168hp.I got it in lightning yellow. It`s got manual shift with good acceleration, good braking & great handling.Myself i love the exterior & interior looks or i would not have bought it right? So far i`ve only put brakes and tires on ,And that`s pretty good as i drive it like i stole it hahaha.Sticker price at the time was $24 888.38mpg highway 28 city???with just the regular maintenance thos far...I`ve owned the car for 4 years and still love driving it...speedometer marks 220kph...hit that at about 5000rpm in 5 gear...burried it by the time i hit rev limitor at about 6700rpm.Car felt real tight at those speed...incredible for a 4 cylinder stock besides a k&n filter in the stock air box...what a blast to drive!!!Aug 07, 2008

I've driven this car since Nov. '05 and never had one problem. Only routine maintenance. Power isn't thrilling, yet sufficient for a 2 litre 4-cyl getting an average of 25-28 MPG city/highway mixed driving. I am actually getting ready to install a chrome air intake kit, but in the mean time, to improve air flow, I cut out a section of the bumper between the inside of the grille and the opening of the air intake duct (stock intake). Basically that allows more direct airflow straight through the grille into the duct, as opposed to the dumb design it comes with. Already I am noticing noticable improvements in throttle response and acceleration, and I am currently in the midst of calculating gas mileage.Apr 04, 2008

The car is simple, not terribly much to look at inside and sportyish styling out, however my 19" wheels, low profile tires, and bright red finish also added to the sportyness. The car is great for the money, it handles exceptionally well with the OZ package and the 19' Kazera wheels make it a beast on on-ramps. The ride is stiff and somewhat harsh with the low profile Yokohamas but that makes the car handle much better. The manual transmission is slick and the steering is responsive. The Interior is rather conservative, however i was impressed to see a padded dashboard top. The engine is adequate though it seems to run out of steam at the higher RPM. Overall a great find and great fun.Apr 02, 2008
