Fin Tastic car in every way. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is a lot of wind noise even with top up in the c- pillars at highway speeds. So much so that I wore my noise canceling earbuds. with that said, it is still a fantastic car that brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.May 27, 2024

I bought a three year old 2016 and drove it for five years as a daily driver. I put winter tires on it for cod weather and snow traction. I loved what it did well and accommodated what it didnt do well. I put on a hitch so I could mount a bike rack and all was well. It was very reliable, efficient enough and tons of fun.
If you are considering getting one, you will need to get used to being the smallest thing on the road. It has good drivers assistance and even with the insulated top on the Grand Touring model is loud at speed.
Get one, you will not regret it. I only sold mine because I really need a back seat and two cars are not an option.Apr 25, 2024

I have a red 2020 MX-5 RF Club with manual. Terrific car like all Miatas. I chose the targa top RF because Ive learned from my previous NA and NB Miatas that top down driving was often not practical where I lived. Arizona sun scorched my bald head, and Florida humidity was oppressive at all times. Pennsylvania has been too cold since getting it to try it topless. So the RF was my preferred choice. I looked at ND series Grand Touring models which has many features that I wish I had, but the Club was priority because of its go-kart goodies. On my short list was a Hyundai Elantra N but it was impossible to find one within 500 miles from home, new or used! I liked the prospect of having an N but probably would not have bought it based on styling. Wont know ever. Im happy to be back in an MX-5! It hurts my face from grinning ear to ear.Dec 03, 2023

Love this car. 2017 with 20k miles. Buying used saved me a lot of money. So much fun to drive! I love the dynamics of a manual transmission. I’m 6’1” and it fits me like a glove. Soul red with black top and tan leather is a beautiful color combination . I did my homework and the price I got at the dealer was well below market. Only one thing I miss is a back up camera, but it has rear cross traffic alert which is more important in my opinion. I also have an SUV so no back seat or significant storage is not a big concern. The Mx5 is a fun little car to drive. Its very small, light, and nimble. The steering is very tight and responsive, as is the throttle and transmission. Its not a car for someone who wants a lot of room. If youre over 6 , or have a large frame, I would advise a test fit, but at 510 -165lbs theres enough room for me to be comfortable, even on 4 hr + road trips. Its rated at 155 bhp, so its not going to keep up with a porsche boxster or a vette,, but it definitely isnt gutless. The sport mode is a little jumpy dor my taste as a daily drive, but I do use it in winding hills where Im not going to be needing 5th and 6th gear, as it rarely shifts above 4th in sport. The paddle shifters and manual mode console shift on the auto trans is quick to respond when you tell it to shift. Theres little to no lag. The gearing is low enough that it feels punchy and quick on takeoff, but the higher gears are very well suited to highway driving at 75-80mph setting in around 200-2200 rpm. He suspension os stiff enoughbto keep the car flat during spirited cornering, but soft enough to keep the ride from being bumpy. It reminds me of a racing gocart, but with a much nicer ride. Theres not a lot in the way of storage space with only 1 real compartment in the cabin thats situated between the seats on the back wall. There are 2 other small compartments, but you have to pull the seats forward to access them so they arent usable for anything you need without parking the car. The trunk is about what youd expect for a small 2 seater. Theres enough room for a duffel or overnight bag, if you want to take a weekend trip. The seats are comfortable, but not luxurious. I feel they could use a little more padding in the bottom and backrest, but it isnt hard by any stretch of the imagination. The engine is audible and the exhaust sporty sounding (for a 4 cyl) at higher rpms but not so much as to be annoying. You dont hear the engine at highway cruising speeds or when just easing around town, but when you throttle it, it says hello. On the highway all youll hear is the wind and your radio, as it should be. The little 2.0l 4 cylinder GDI engine with VVT is is extremely economical, coming in at nearly 40mpg on my highway trips, and I dont drive like your mother. It usually show me around 25-28mpg in town, too. The 11.9 gal fuel tank is cheap to fill and lasts a good bit longer than Ive been accustomed to in the past. All around I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, only subtracting that .5 because i think it could stand a little more leg room and the cup holder situation is a bit odd. Aug 11, 2022

Fun car to drive. Good mpg, it isnt an every day driver and it does need premium fuel. The trunk is small but it would carry a few duffle bags for a long trip. The manual tranny is tight, fast shifting and a short throw. It was just what I was looking for and it is all I expected it to be.Jul 13, 2021

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is the highest Quality small sized Sports car money can buy, Mazda pays attention to detail and ergonomics, some nice accessory selection as well. The RF Grand touring model has all the safety features you could ask for. Great suspension with the Bilstein Shocks and Handles like a sports car should. I would recommend any Mazda product built since 2016. But this car is like putting extra icing on the cake. It is a work of Art. Apr 28, 2021

Great car for short guys (or gals). Best features - very nimble handling, decent acceleration, superb transmission and clutch, suspension design & materials outcompete most, great gas mileage, reliable / low maintenance, reasonable to insure. Weaknesses - storage space, headroom (you better be under 6 tall). Shop carefully and you may snag a clean 2019 (or later model) with the 7,500 rpm redline for 1/3 off the original dealers price - a good value. The Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ come close, but lack the overall refinement of the Miata. The Honda S2000 is a better drivers car but unfortunately many of the S2000s have too many miles at this date. If you are looking for a fun, rational sports car, and are under 6 tall, the Miata is likely the best car for you.Feb 20, 2021
