Bought it knowing the advanced optispark thing was going to be a problem. The power windows just needed to be worked for a while just to clean the armatures of the motors. Poli, you sound like a guy that expected to get a new car thats 30 years old. GET A CLUE JR. I replaced the optispark unit and water pump because it was behind it so I was just being proactive, If you think youre going to get a car without problems, get some Danberry mint models and stay home and count you money. This car has been equipped with the Greenwood Racing aero body kit that was installed post factory production by Greenwood and is in excellent condition. The car also has the LT1 package that was available from 1992 to 1997 in limited production. This car is a fine example of rare performance packages available above the base models commonly available for sale today. May 25, 2024

The 1993 Corvette is an affordable muscle car. It cruises great! like any older car, dependability relies on the former owners dedication to regular maintenance and sensible driving habits. Many little foibles in design have been handled by aftermarket companies and are usually not too costly. Getting in and out can be tricky if you are not very limber and coordinated. The wall, as its called, requires you to lift your legs over it to get out. Its almost impossible to get in and close the door at the same time. You see many people have broken the headlight switch assembly by bumping it with their knees. At slower speeds the steering and turning requires some effort. These cars are way underpriced and a good bargain. Ive had mine for 5 years and enjoy driving it on weekends through the winding roads of northern Arkansas. Thats when you can really appreciate the engineering of the car. My 93 feels as stable at 95 mph as it does at 35mph. I love that it has a CD player and a cassette player and a lighter and ashtray. Old school and cool. Aug 26, 2022

The early to mid 90’s ZR1 is an iconic car. 375 to 405 hp in early 90’s was supercar level. 24 hour endurance speed record around 170 mph, pretty awesome. Aug 26, 2022

Not for show. Needs to be driven to really enjoy it. With the top off it is very enjoyable to travel around in. It was an everyday driver for me until I retired. Now it is an occasional ride on nice daysSep 26, 2014

I bought my 89 C4 last year. Only one owner for its first 24 years. Did a carfax and found no issues. The previous owner took impeccable care of this automobile. Even after sitting for a month she starts right up! I had to replace old vacuum lines, hoses and a few electrical connections, weatherstripping and complete new exhaust.... but it is 25 years old. Runs great! And my wife and I take it for a little highway joyrides on weekends weather permitting. She still has her flawless bright red finish and is a head turner. I plan to leave it as is. Fun to drive. And fun to clean and wax! Not the fastest car on the road, but I don't intend to street race anyone. If you really want to go that fast you should've become an astronaut! My wife and I receive compliments on the car all the time. But since I've only owned it for one year I always give credit to the gentleman who owned it before me. I always wanted a Corvette. It was a great price and structurally sound. A C4 Corvette is a great investment if you are looking for an inexpensive introduction to Corvettes and have some spare dollars (2-4 thousand) to get up to speed so to speak. All total I have vested $13,000 on a beautiful piece of machinery. Not a bad investment for a mid-life crisis. I've seen people shovel over a great deal more $$$$ on something that they only drive for a few years. And start all over again with a new lease costing $$$$. I have my daily drive older pick up truck. And a beautiful weekend cruiser.May 30, 2014

Looking for a premium sports car that wont break the bank? Low mileage, cared for examples are easy to find to add to your garage. This is one muscle car that wont drive you crazy with maintenance. The power, handling, creature comforts, styling, combine to make driving exciting. Performance tires, 4 wheel discs, traction control, FX3 suspension, all work in tandem to cement the vehicle to the tarmac. Parts are easy to find online, and there are forums/ videos that help with questions and issues. Being American made, it can be serviced anywhere. The overall motoring impression is visceral, raw, involving, the driver is one with the machine, not isolated from it, especially with the 6 speed ZF transmission. Mileage is a respectable 25-29mpg on premium, performance and mileage suffer with lower octane. With over 300hp there is plenty of power on tap, 5 sec. to 60mph. 14 sec. quarter mile, and traction control keeps handling quick, safe, responsive. May 18, 2014

Nothing to dislike, The 84 Corvette is the best looking, best handling, for the money!!!! The Quality talks to you when you drive it.The cross fire fuel injection runs perfect. The C4 handling is the best with rack and pinion steering.
The 4/3 auto transmission is excellent, what more can i say, go buy one!! Check it out! The 1984 Corvette was rated.. Top 10 BEST Corvettes ever built!!Aug 03, 2013

This is my second "play car" so I drive just for pleasure and something to tinker with, For that purpose and giving the cheap price, it fits my purposes very well. I paid as much for my C4 as it would have cost to turbo one of my other cars and tune it.
That being said, it's a unique and interesting car. The L98 engine is a classic Chevy 350 underneath so there's cheap power and modification options. The car responds well to modification as well, but is fine as-is. The powerband of the engine is narrow, but very good at the same time because of the torque. I love the clamshell hood which makes servicing a breeze. It feels much faster than it actually is and will keep you entertained around town.
Handling is very good. The car rides firm, which I like, and turns very flat. This car begs for sticky tires. I also like the subdued styling and the "older" C4 body style.
Other nice additions are the forged aluminum bits both front and rear. Paint is very good and better than a new Camaro SS I examined. The engineers put the money where it counts.
The 6speed shifter is not very good and the ring that locks out reverse is not durable. The Hurst shifter is a worthwhile upgrade and is a traditional American modification to cars like this. The interior is loaded, but the materials are typical GM. For the convertible, the storage is not good. There's some room under the top when it's down, and more when the top is up, but you have to hold up the rear of the top with your shoulder to get access. The brakes are good, not great but I may need to bleed them. I'm able to get in and out of the car no problem and prefer the strapped in feel. Older folks will have a real tough time living with this and should look at another car or try one 1st. Car is also hand built with fasteners like torx head or screws used all over the place. I love this feature as it simplifies things for me, but have locktite handy or the screws will fall out. The engine runs out of breath at 4500-4800 RPM. The power is excellent until that happens though, but it should be noted.
Factory Bose audio system have amps on the speaker that have capacitors that are now dried out. Budget for repairs of this system or replace with a standardized sound system.
Overall if you like to hod rod or modify, this is the car for you. Nice big hood and no sheet metal to rust. If you like it as it is, it's a great car too. Just budget for complete fluid flushes at this point and perhaps weatherstripping to get it up to snuff.Jul 09, 2013

This car has been one of the best cars I have owned. It is tough to get in and out of being 6'3", but once you are in it is a magnificent vehicle. The maintenance is minimal - oil and lube, and not much else. The tires are staggered sizes and directional, so there is no rotating.
The dash looks like a fighter jet cockpit. It is much more attractive IMO then the newer Corvette dashes which have become large and more plastic in appearance. Both front seats are 8 way power and are very comfy. all in all compared to it's peers of other sports cars, this car offers much in the way of styling, performance and comfort, as well as reliability which is a bonus that others cannot always boast! I highly recommend this vehicle.Jun 23, 2012

This is my first Vette, something that I dreamed of since high school. Now that prices have come down, I was able to get into it for less than $5k and it has only 80k miles. It also has the 6-speed manual transmission, selectable ride, leather, targa top, and power everything. The 240 HP along with the incredible torque, highly reactive steering, and low stance is enough to give any driver a thrill. For a 350 V8, this car is getting 20 MPG, better than my wife's little SUV with a 6 cylinder. Feb 29, 2012

It is very dependable, fast and with the new tires it holds the road and corners like its glued to the road. and the color changes depending on how you look at it in the sunlight. never been in the shop except for routine maint, and has never broken down while on a trip, seats hold you firm in the car and are very comfortable. the car is a blast to drive, and i always feel safe driving in it. i would recommend the car to any one who wants to own a vette. i use the car for good days driving. its a pleasue driven vehicle. It also gets great gas milage in the city and on the road, fire it up and here the v-8 rumble and your ready to go.Jul 31, 2011

I have owned my vette for 6 months and it's a great car to own. It has plenty of accelerations, handles very well, and I just gave it a fresh paint job to clean it up. Awesome car to own.May 13, 2011

The 1989 Corvette touted a digital dashboard that still attracts quite a bit of interest.
The deeply padded seats borrow from the Recaro look. I think this 1989 C4 is exceptional based upon the build quality, performance, and convertible option. Mar 05, 2011

All I have to do is blink and I have passed you!!! Plus it is not a gas hog like many think. Haven't had to make many repairs and it is 26 years old! Not bad for a sports car.Aug 05, 2010

An absolutely stellar car. It looks great, performs spectacularly while still delivering a comfortable ride, gets great gas mileage(would you believe 31 mpg on the highway?!), is dead reliable, the body will never rust, and is entirely over-engineered. An American icon.May 13, 2010

The '85 Corvettes had a lot of squeeks ansd such due to a lack of time to refine the car's flaws before it hit the market. The power and accelaration are great for an 80's car! I'm not a big fan of the digital dash thought. Nor do I car for square interiors. Over all though, I loved this car and feel that I made a huge mistake by getting rid of it.Dec 04, 2009

This car is just pure automotive excellence. It is what everyone on earth should drive; a fairly cheap car that has a good amount of power along with a lightweight cassis, oh and it must be RWD. If you ever get bored with a vette you are not a car guy, just a tool. Sep 09, 2009

LT4 motor - 345hp, 340ft-lb torque . 0-60 4.8 secs, 170 mph IN 1996!!
You can pick up a late C4 for 10k plus now. LT4's are a little more but is still the best bang for buck out there. Brutal acceleration, tons of torque, corners on rails and not a bad interior for a GM car. Doesn't like bumpy road surfaces. Unmistakable V8 sound and road presence. The first 'modern' corvette.Jun 19, 2008

Awesome car. Looks sleek and sounds great with any aftermarket exhaust system. Just as fast as most modern sports cars that cost about 5 times the price.Feb 09, 2008

i have a friend whose 1990 C4 I have driven to compare with my 1987 C4. Both are awesome and fast, fun and reliable. As with anything you must maintain it to keep it in top condition. I am 6'5", built like an outside lineman at 310 lbs and have no problems getting in or out and the legroom is fantastic. the only car I have ever been able to sit and drive comfortably is a Corvette and I have owned 8 of them now from 1965 thru to 1987. For best bang for your bucks the 85-90 C4 is the best all around funtastic street menace you can get an adredalin rush with and not mortgage your soul for. I have never found finding parts either new or used a problem at all with all the internet stores and Ebay stuffed with anything you could want.Dec 28, 2007
