The last year of a Stingray convertible for Corvette C3 model. Reliable daily driver and not expensive to maintain. I had a 1976 Stingray that I should have never sold.Nov 11, 2020

It's a fun car to drive, but to restore is another story, Parts are expensive and setting up the rear suspension can be tricky. If your going to restore one of these DO YOUR HOMEWORK, These cars take more attention to detail than most but if you have the patience and not afraid to work with fiberglass then do it to it, it's well worth the effort when it's done.Apr 20, 2015

Always dreamed of having the 78 since high school. It rides nice and I have restored the majority of the mechanical systems. Looks good and gets lots of thumbs up from passers-by. Fun for the car shows and summer cruises.Jan 23, 2015

Great Car 350CI/350HP engine, T-top, 4 speed manual trans, good power great handling. The old saying "see the USA in your Chevrolet" differently applies to this car. Never had a bad monument just fun fun. This is the third Corvette I have owned 56, 78 and the 71 and by far the 71 has been the best. Dec 23, 2014

Runs and drive great, just want newer Vette with Z06 power. This is Corvette number 6 for me. Just love them and working on them making them as perfect as I can. Getting old, just want my last one a stick with lots of power.Sep 27, 2013

I bought this car for $4,000 a couple of years ago. It had been in a minor accident and needed a little body work up front, needed paint, and the automatic transmission was slipping. But under the hood was a very strong 383 stroker motor with Elderbrock intake, Holley 750 carb, and long tube headers. I spent a couple of weekends fixing the body work - using fiberglass body filler bought at Wal-Mart. Had the car painted at Econo-Bake for $500 and it looks darn good for what I've got in it. I bought a rebuilt TH350 transmission out of a wrecked Malibu for $125 and installed myself. I added a B&M shift improver kit ($30) to the transmission, bought the side pipes for $200 from Summit Racing and the car is perfect for me. She will smoke the tires as long as you hold the gas pedal down, looks great, and gets compliments everywhere. I absolutely love my Corvette but a car like this is not for everyone. You need the time, place, and tools to tinker and tune on this car.Sep 25, 2013

Loved the look of her, the speed, the feel of being secure in the seats. The Candy Apple Red w/plum just shimmers in the sunlight and the glow of the side pipe guards just bounce the light off the vette. Jun 29, 2013

Quick and powerful but anything but a straight line is stretching it lol. Very sleek and stylish. Gas mileage isn't good, but it's expected with older sports cars. The car is extremely fun to drive around. Definitely a true classic.May 16, 2012

A fun car to drive. Definitely an attention getter when you are out on the road. The car handles very well. It has very responsive steering and braking. Is a little lacking in the horsepower department. The early 80's wasn't know for big horsepower engines. Overall, still a fun car to drive and to own.Feb 05, 2012

The C3 corvette is immensely fun to drive. It certainly has the looks and the power. However, is only a two-seater and it has no hatch so you unless you can get over the seats its not going in the car. Sep 09, 2011

I love the original car's performance, however with a few bolt on's, the car was absolutely great to drive.
The 6th gear is almost never used unless on long road trips, the 4.10 rear makes 6th very useable and more seat of the pants acceslerationApr 21, 2011

Love driving this car, even though it is modified, still gets a lot of "thumbs up". Handling is pretty good, I have replaced the weather strips around the windows and on the T Tops, but still get some leakage during a heavy rain-everall -a Fun car to driveApr 17, 2011

Love the look. Later C3 but has L82 option and 4-speed. I love the look with the Pace Car spoiler package. Rare factory order A/C delete, manual crank windows and close-ratio trans Vette. I'll never get rich from this car but I still love her!Apr 08, 2011

Completely Stock 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
Small Block V8 producing 330HP
Great piece of American Muscle heritage.
Timeless Classic.
One of my favourite cars ever to drive, it reminds me alot like the new corvettes in handling.
Great piece of workmanship!Dec 29, 2010

This car does need some work. For its age, I suppose it's in decent shape. It does have t-tops, which leak in the rain, it lacks a firewall between the engine compartment and the footspace in the 'cockpit'. It's temperamental, needs a mag starter... the engine heats the regular starter too much, and it has to cool down again before it will fire up.
It's missing a motor in the driver's side window, and the seal around the windshield is heavily degraded. The vacuum canisters for opening the headlights are shot. She dogtracks like crazy on the open road.
But you know what? This is the most amazing car I've ever driven. It was made for a purpose, and here over thirty years later, I can still tell. It is simple compared to today's new cars, but it has more spirit. This baby gets up and roars, and I LOVE it.May 30, 2009

Sharks are the BEST!
Cost of ownership is low, these cars are reliable...and every
single nut and bolt is available
Fun factor is off the charts, you get more stares and longling
glances is a Shark...that you will ever get in 99% of the cars
out there.
Quality of the car itself matters...anything between $17000-
25000 these cars wont let you down...buy a $4000
beater...well its gonna be expensive, but gorgeous when you
restore it.
Performance...stock not so great....good news...its a chevy
small block.....it's cheap and easy to make it stupid fast.
Also, the chassis and engine bay was designed for a big
block...yeah you can go that route too!
A multitude of performance parts are available, race tuned
suspensions, upgrade brakes, everything. The only cars with
more tuning stuff available (and then its a tie) are Camaros
and Mustangs. Feb 27, 2009

This car is quite awesome, though the low geared V8 leaves something to be desired, its a nice drive and has the go when you need to. Black ext., black int., and chrome trim...very nice color scheme. I personally like how the speedometer can't keep up with the acceleration.Oct 04, 2008

Fantastic car!!! I had a L-82 with a 4-speed on the silver anniversary paint. Great car, amazing to drive. This is a slow one by Corvette standards however it is still a Corvette and loads of fun. This car is completely worth it!Mar 26, 2008

me and my grandpa bought this vette and restored it ourselves. overall it took us around a year or so to do the whole car. we striprd all the paint and added fibrglass front and rear bumpers. we painted the car orange flame, which is a factory color for this model vette. we built a 350 engine for the car. the motor has been bored, and has roller rocker arms, larger valves in the heads, and we put a big cam in it to. the car runs good, but the automatic trans and the 3.08 rear end gears dont give it the acceleration it needs.Feb 24, 2008

This thing passed everything but gas stations and caught fire more than once...but it was all worth the ride. The LS-5 with 454 power and turbo 400 automatic was ground shattering. However, it provided a little too much torque for the frame to handle.Feb 10, 2008

1969 Corvette Coupe rides like a dream. I have an all stock, all origional 39 year old Corvette and everything is top notch. Rides surprisingly smooth, but don't get me wrong, it's not a sluggish old Caddy. This car is very loud, and accelerates like nothing i've ever felt. I'd reccomend one to any person seriously thinking about buying one, they are not only a blast all around but a huge, profitable investment.Jan 28, 2008

I have owned my 78 Pace Car replica vette since early 1985 and basically love the car. As it gets (and I get) older, however, finding good mechanics who are familiar with older vehicles is becoming progressively more difficult. Jan 11, 2008

I currently own my 2nd '76 Vette. I wish I'd kept my first, but I am contented with the one I have now. Probably the best thing about these cars is how easy they are to fix. A Haynes manual and an assembly book cover most of what goes wrong.
I think most people expect the car to last by doing nothing, but a little maintenance every once in awhile goes a long way. There are three things (IMHO) that you should keep working, no matter what: the headlight operation, the gauges, and most importantly, the A/C. Aside from the styling, these are the most unique parts of the car. Nearly every muscle car of this era struggles with interior comfort, but the Corvette AC unit does as good a job as most current vehicles.
Most parts and maintenance items are on the shelf, and eBay keeps hard-to-find items available if not found locally.
Lastly, I like these cars for DRIVING, not storing. I laugh when I go to a car show and see trailer queens being rolled out. I realize and respect cars of such caliber, but they're not for me. Give me a ground-pounding, rail-cornering 'Vette any day and you'll have people staring as much as any showroom quality model.Jan 06, 2008

I just completed a full restoration on this car and did not re-build to be a show car or to keep stock, I built the 350 up to 400 plus HP. This car has a 4 speed and is really setup for 1/4 mile racing, but it is very street able if you can afford to drive much at 11 MPG ! just a toyAug 05, 2007

Bought it with 6,000 miles on it. Drove it til 99,000 miles. never had to change a valve cover. Engine remained untouched except for oil changes, spark plugs and wires and air filters. A few wheel bearings, u-joints (both a pain in the rear), and a little trans work and a hole in the pumpkin were real learning experiences but I wouldn't trade the enjoyment of driving that beauty and the looks I got for any amount of work I had to put in. Bridgehampton Blue with both tops. Loved it.Jan 23, 2007
