I absolutely Love this car. I get compliments all the time. To the avereage "Joe" they think it's not fast, I mean come on, it's a Buick for crying out loud!!! I can drive this car around town or on a road trip with no problems & still get decent gas mileage, with the a/c on.Jul 07, 2014

For a car to last a long time it requires attention, care and space. I love this car because it was my first one. These were great cars that GM made at the time. The American Industry however has gone downhill unfortunately.Oct 13, 2013

This is a classic G-body with a ladder frame and 4 link rear suspension. The car handles OK but what's nice is that it's very predictable at the limit. It can smoke the tires for days and you have the feeling of complete control. I have seating for 6 people becuase it has a column shifter. Jun 14, 2013

Bought the car in 87 while a junior in high school. It is a limited edition with the pillow seats that were very comfortable. I repainted it in 93 and drove it till 97. It's currently resting under cover in my building. At the time I wanted a grand national but couldn't afford one so this had to do.these were very nice cars for the price and time and very dependable. Only problem was they didn't have much power, but that was common in the early 80's. nice car over all for the period.Jan 31, 2013

There's lot's of room in the front and back. Great stock radio if you're lucky to find one unmodified.
It's also good for piling in your school buddies too!
Great visibility, low cost maintenance.
This car was my high school cruiser.Jul 01, 2012

Classic muscle car; with some T.L.C it will be a beauty. A diamond in the rough.
1986 Buick Regal Limited 2 door coupe in need of some work done. But so far nothing major.
Impressive for a vehicle of it's age. Jan 17, 2012

This was a great first car to own. As a kid I had the best car in the school
lot. It was a beauty. Classic lines and sleek styling made this car slightly
sexy. The downside to this coupe is the large steel doors would freeze in
the winter, and the windows had no frames, so driving on the highway at
speeds over 50 would result in the glass bending outward. Jun 08, 2011

Eat up any small block V-8 in the 1/4 mile. Bad on head gaskets. Finally prefected with the introduction of the Grand National in 1984. It's a great "sleeper", most people get caught off guard, thinking it's grandma's grocery getter.Apr 11, 2011

This is my favorite American Made automobile, far and away. Classically styled, with the look of a muscle car, made over by the geniuses that used to be at Buick. The interior (I had the crushed velvet seats in all of my Regals), was firm, but soft, and well-suited for long trips. Plenty of headroom (I am 6'6"), and legroom, even in the backseat in the 4-door version. The drivetrain was wonderful. I opted for the 3.8L V6 in all of my Regals / Century / Cutlass Supreme Sedans. There was plenty of passing power, even at highway speeds, smooth shifting, and above-average gas mileage for it's time. The cars are long lasting, well-buits icons of America, and what our country used to be capable of making.Oct 11, 2010

This was my first car. I loved it and wish I never got rid of it. It was a pimp looking car with a nice V8, comfortable, roomy and just cool in a Saturday Night Fever sort of way. I wish I still had it and miss it greatly.Mar 30, 2010

This was not a Grand National. It was a WE4, which in laymens terms, meant it had everything a GN would have minus the badges. If you have never ridden or driven one of the amazing little turbo 6's, you should do so before you die. They are nothing short of amazing and I will have another one before I'm done. Jan 01, 2010

3.8 V6 was strong built motor, plenty of power and decent gas mileage. Lots of interior room, even with front seats almost all the way back. Car was big but still fun to drive. Plenty of trunk space, lots of room underhood to work on the engine.Aug 27, 2009

First car I learned to drive on. I was 16 yrs old. The car was 3
years old at that time. My Father special ordered it from a
local Buick garage in 1979. Black w/red plush limited interior
spoked wheels with raised white BFG tires. That car turned
heads everywhere. Weekends were exciting just anticipating
goin' out cruisin' and impressing girls. Car had plenty of
power. Asking for trouble with 87 octane! Detonation galore.
Burnt hole at top of number 6 piston and had to be replaced.
After that, Premium gas only.Car was totaled in 1984 Parents
were in accident by reckless driver of Truck. Fortunately
Parents were O.K.Jun 07, 2009

I know some ppl thinking I'm crazy bout this choice but this was to be my project car...nothing big like 26" rims or nothing just wanted to bring it back to original condition, maybe some exhaust pipe upgrade and possibly a new crate motor if I ever got that far. Anyway the car was dependable never left me stranded unless I ran out of gas. Previous owner garaged it a few years till he saw my trade offer for my Maxima that needed work. Drove the car to SC from NY that year with no issues, cruising at 80-85+ and it drives....well pretty much like a Buick.
Suprisingly the car is very powerful...in a towing type of way. My friends car got stuck in College point and I pushed his Altima all the way to Ozone Park (about 10 miles) doing 40MPH never lost a breath LOLFeb 08, 2009

Fun to drive with looks and that could kill. Not you your everyday V6, this V6 with 3.8 turbo pushes 245 horses stock. 1987 was an end of an era for the G-bodys and Buick went out with a bang the Regal Grand National. Believe me once you drive one of these you'll want one too.Oct 13, 2008

Well for those who know it needs no explanation..For those who dont watch the video this car isnt for the weak of heart. The cars were awesome stock still faster than a stock 2008 mustang gt and modded well you better hang on you can run 9s in the quarter mile and still get 20+mpg on the street..If you own one most people wont wanna race you cause they already know its like owning a hayabusa or a vette you got nothin to prove cause challengers know if they line up with you they will prolly be seein your tailights...Aug 01, 2008

Many Luxury Items were available and all of them work well. These cars are solid and can take whatever abuse is thrown at them. The performance is outstanding, the Buick Turbo 6 is a very well-engineered engine, very tuneable and it has lots of potential. The suspension setup is great having all the best of the G body parts plus quick ratio steering and some heavy dudty sway bars. Feb 19, 2008

Shared this car for a while in high school with my older brother until I rolled it one night. Wish I had pictures. It was older, wearing out, had no horsepower, but was kind of cool because it was different. Since it was the only year for a Regal station wagon, always thought it would be cool to make a Grand National wagon out of it.Feb 14, 2008

I owned the 1986 Grand National for a little over a year. Selling it was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made. You can never understand just how strong and FAST this car really is until you drive one. At a local 1/8 mile dragstrip I have outrun IROC's, Corvette's, and every mustang that I ever raced. How is that for a family car. :)Feb 07, 2007
