What’s New for the 2024 Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot was completely redesigned for the 2023 model year. It carries over into the 2024 model year with minimal changes.
Design
Last year's redesign ushered in a much more rugged aesthetic: The Pilot has a confident, squared-off front end. Trims for the 2024 Pilot include LX, Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, and Elite. The TrailSport stands out with all-terrain tires, unique badging, and black wheels that are exclusive to the trim.
Powertrain
No matter which trim you select, the 2024 Pilot comes equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. It makes 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels or available all-wheel drive (AWD). When properly equipped, the Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds on AWD versions. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) models can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The FWD Pilot is the most efficient version of the SUV. It returns fuel economy of 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined. With AWD, the Pilot returns 19 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined. The TrailSport’s more aggressive tires bring fuel economy down to 18 mpg city, 23 highway, and 20 combined.
Interior
The Pilot has seating for up to eight passengers across three rows. If you select the second-row captain's chairs, seating capacity falls to seven. With all rear seats folded, the Pilot has up to 87 cubic feet of cargo space. With the second row in use, there’s 48.5 cubic feet of cargo space. With all seats in use, the Pilot has 18.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.
Standard features on the Pilot’s base LX trim include a push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and four USB ports. Available features include a wall-style power outlet, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an in-car intercom system.
Technology
The base setup in the Pilot combines a 7-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch fully digital instrument panel. Moving up to the EX-L adds a 9-inch touchscreen, and going up to the Elite brings in a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel. The base infotainment has wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the upgraded touchscreen has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety
The 2024 Pilot comes equipped with a solid list of driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams.
Pricing
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Honda Pilot has a base MSRP of $37,090 for the LX trim. The Sport starts at $39,600, the EX-L starts at $42,400, and the TrailSport starts at $48,800. The Touring starts at $46,900, and the range-topping Elite starts at $52,480. The Honda Pilot is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

What owners say
"Overall, drivers appreciate the 2024 Honda Pilot for its spaciousness and the value it offers compared to other SUVs. Many liked that it comfortably fits eight passengers and has a lot of features at a lower price point than competitors like Lexus. However, some were disappointed with the engine's performance and handling, as well as missing components, like the tow hitch wiring harness, given its price tag."
It has everything I was looking for in an SUV and I saved a ton of money due to Honda not selling over MSRP. I looked at the Lexus SUV that is similar and the Pilot hands down is better and 20k cheaper.
November 29, 2023The car is great! Plenty of power and room for 8 passengers.
September 26, 2023This vehicle was a great choice for me as it provides the room and flexibility, I am looking for with downsizing from a full-size crew cab pickup.

December 7, 2023Would have given it 5 stars but when I find after the fact that I spend 50k+ for a car that has a tow hitch but Honda can’t put in a wiring harness for it and I have to spend more money on that is disappointing, I test drove other vehicles that came with the harness and where cheaper. Gets me wondering what else did they go cheaper on. I enjoy it so far the car is great so far but that is just a thorn in my side.
February 25, 2024The pilot has a lackluster but dependable engine, clunky handling, subpar acceleration, ugly rear fascia, and the black edition seats come with a “red” stitching that is more like pink, along which does not equate to a 55k price tag.
