2023 Hyundai Elantra N front-quarter view

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra N is an athletic performance sedan built on the practical Elantra sedan platform. Though just introduced in 2022, the Elantra N is already a worthy adversary for the likes of the Subaru WRX STI and the Honda Civic Si and Type R. The Elantra N carries over to 2023 largely unchanged, including its helpful 14.2 cubic feet of trunk space.

In addition to more aggressive front-end styling and a red accent line running the length of the car, the Elantra N also features a unique color palette that sets it apart from other Elantras. The exclusive colors are all muted tones, including gray, light blue, dark blue, black, and white.

Standard features on the Elantra N include 19-inch alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires, aggressive lower front, side, and rear aerodynamic bodywork, and a trunk-lid-mounted rear wing. Inside, the Elantra N comes with front sport bucket seats (with integrated light-up “N” in the seat-back), a combination of leather and microsuede upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a power sunroof, wireless device charging, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also comes equipped with an easy-to-use touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Hyundai Elantra N is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which makes 276 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. This powertrain allows the Elantra N to sprint from zero to sixty in under five seconds. It features launch control, an adaptive suspension, limited-slip differential, and performance brakes. It also features N Mode drive-mode toggles. You can dial in the throttle response, steering feel, brakes, suspension, and even the throaty dual exhaust. If you select the dual-clutch transmission, you also get N Grin Shift, which allows for short bursts of over-boosted power delivery, paired to optimal shift mapping.

With the six-speed manual, the Elantra N returns fuel economy of 22 mpg city, 31 highway, and 25 combined. Selecting the automatic drops fuel economy to 20 mpg city, 30 highway, and 23 combined. Premium fuel is recommended for the Elantra N.

Hyundai equips the Elantra N with a solid array of advanced driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beams. It also comes equipped with Safe Exit Assist, which can alert occupants to oncoming traffic alongside the car before stepping out into traffic. The Elantra N is also backed by a generous 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

The Elantra n is an awesome car. You get a ton of tech for the money, rides great and has one of the best stock exhausts in the market. For being a performance car, it also exceeded my expectations in fuel consumption too. My travel was 95% city, but higher speed city (45+) and I averaged 29mpg, on highway on a few Trips I did got 35, that’s awesome even though the car wasn’t really designed for sipping fuel. Absolutely best bang for your buck car on the market. Jan 25, 2024

Excellent best bang for your buck. I have a BMW and to be honest the Elantra N offers a lot of modern safety features that simulate what BMW offers, except for a whole lot les money. 10 year 100,000 warranty also is a plus. Jun 09, 2023
