The 2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid is a spacious, comfortable full-size sedan with the fuel-saving benefits of a hybrid powertrain. The 2022 model year represents the swan song for the Avalon Hybrid, as it won’t be available starting in 2023. The beamy Avalon Hybrid provides a generous 16.09 cubic feet of trunk space.
The Avalon Hybrid is available in XLE, XSE Nightshade, and Limited trims. The XLE comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather seating, 8-way power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.
Moving up to the XSE Nightshade trim adds unique exterior styling elements, 19-inch alloy wheels, genuine leather upholstery, wireless device charging, and aluminum interior accents. The range-topping Limited model adds ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine wood interior trim, a color head-up display, and ambient cabin lighting.
The Avalon Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, making a combined 215 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
Fuel economy for the XLE trim is 43 mpg city, 44 highway, and 44 combined. Limited and Nightshade models return fuel economy of 43 mpg in city, highway, and combined driving scenarios.
The Avalon Hybrid comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite of driver assistance features. This includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring. Available safety tech options include front-and-rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic automatic braking, and a surround-view parking monitor.
The 2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid has a base MSRP of $37,250. The XSE Nightshade returns $40,600, and the range-topping Limited returns $43,500. The Avalon Hybrid is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
