There are plenty of spacious SUVs and minivans on the market today. But when you need professional-grade cargo and passenger space, the 2021 GMC Savana delivers in spades. With seating for up to 15 passengers and countless seating configurations, the Savana is a van that is up to any task.
For 2021, the Savana gains a new V8 engine option right out of the Sierra Heavy Duty pickup. The available 6.6-liter gas V8 makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. It joins a lineup that includes a gas V6 that’s standard equipment, and an available Duramax turbodiesel inline-four. The former puts out 276 hp and 298 lb-ft of torque, while the Duramax unit makes 181 hp and an impressive 369 lb-ft of torque.
The V6 and Duramax engines route power through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 6.6-liter gas V8 routes power through a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission. All three setups route power to rear-wheel drive (RWD). The Savana comes with a Tow/Haul mode and is available with Hill Start Assist and an Eaton automatic locking rear differential. When properly equipped, the Savana can tow up to 9,600 pounds.
The Savana is available in 2500 and 3500 levels. The 2500 and 3500 both share a regular wheelbase configuration, while the 3500 is also available in a long-wheelbase configuration. Both are available in LS and LT trims.
The Savana comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels, black grille, bumper and, side mirrors, and Solar-Ray tinted glass. It also comes standard with power doors and locks, a backup camera, air conditioning, vinyl front bucket seats, and a 120-volt wall-style power outlet.
Optional features include Bluetooth, USB, 4G LTE WiFi hotspot capability, carpeted flooring, cloth seats, steering wheel mounted audio controls, cruise control, and remote start.
Standard safety features include multiple airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, StabiliTrak stability control, and a backup camera. Available safety features include lane-departure warning, forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors.
Base MSRP for the 2021 GMC Savana is $37,695 for the 2500. The 3500 starts at $38,895 for the regular wheelbase model and $39,695 for the extended wheelbase model. A fully loaded extended 3500 LT with the Duramax engine can cost as much as $43,000. The Savana is also available with a seemingly endless list of dealer-installed options.
