The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek gets minor changes for 2020.
Since it’s not a major year for the Crosstrek, the exterior design remains the same. However, two new colors join the palette: Magnetite Gray Metallic replaces Dark Gray Metallic, while Pure Red replaces Venetian Red Pearl.
The Crosstrek comes standard with a 2.0-liter flat 4-cylinder boxer engine, which delivers 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. You get the choice of a standard 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive (AWD) and 8.7 inches of ground clearance come standard at every level. If you select the CVT, you also gain Subaru’s X-MODE low-traction system, hill-descent control, and a drive selector with Intelligent and Sport modes. With the manual transmission, the Crosstrek achieves 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The CVT version does quite a bit better: 27/33/30.
Subaru sells the 2020 Crosstrek in three trims: Base, Premium, and Limited. The Base trim gets black 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, black side cladding, a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, dual USB ports, automatic headlights, and welcome lighting. Other trims get a 6-speaker sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an enhanced instrument cluster, a sunroof, leather, a 6-way power driver’s seat, keyless access and start, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, navigation, and automatic start-stop.
The CVT-equipped Crosstrek comes standard with Subaru EyeSight driver-assist technology. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, sway warning, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pre-collision throttle management. A reversing camera and a rear-seat reminder are also standard. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, adaptive headlights, and rear cross-traffic alert are the only safety options. The Crosstrek scores a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when equipped with the EyeSight package and adaptive headlights.
If you need a subcompact vehicle that fulfills the promises made by its SUV shape, the Subaru Crosstrek may be just the ticket.

We live in a rural area, and this model is perfect for the kind of driving we do. And the electronics seem to be something well be able to use fairly easily (we are older), which means a lot. So many safety features that will be really helpful!Nov 15, 2022

Good value. Eyesight has already saved me from one fender bender. Fits a lot of stuff if you fold seats down. Seats are not the most comfortable and I can’t grab the steering wheel the same way I did in my 2006 because there are so many buttons on it. May 27, 2022

The crosstrek limited trim line gives you more for your money than the top trim lines in many other makers. It’s comparable in size to the Mazda CX30 (although is a bit bigger than the CX30). I’d describe it as sporty luxury that can off-road if needed!Apr 10, 2022

An incredible value car, along with amazing features. It is perfect for every day commutes, as well as more adventurous trips. It has amazing safety features (ie: adjusted cruise control) that gives that extra peace of mind. It is also very comfortable. The Crosstrek gives you enough space, but its not too large.
