The Rolls-Royce Ghost, a full-size super luxury sedan, features an exclusive and elegant design. It carries over unchanged for 2019. Notable competitors to the Ghost include Rolls-Royce’s own Wraith and the Bentley Mulsanne.
Everything on the Ghost is big and bold, from the front grille to the body lines sweeping back to the rear. The available two-tone paint, which can be commissioned in nearly any color imaginable, emphasize the dramatic bodywork.
The Ghost gets just one powertrain, a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 rated for 563 horsepower and 605 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD). The Black Badge trim is tuned for 603 hp and 620 lb-ft. EPA ratings for the standard Ghost check in at a scant 12 mpg city, 19 highway, and 14 combined.
The Ghost’s interior comes with hand-stitched leather upholstery in a wide range of colors and available trim materials. The rear row offers ultra-luxe features for passengers including a beverage cooler and folding picnic tables. Buyers can add a 16-speaker audio system, two 9.2-inch displays for the rear row, and a rear-row telephone system.
A reversing camera and side-view cameras come standard in the Ghost. Additional safety features are available in packages and include lane-departure warning, a head-up display (HUD), high-beam assist, night vision, and adaptive cruise control.
By auto industry standards, the Rolls-Royce Ghost is long overdue for a substantial update or full redesign, but that’s unlikely to deter this car’s elite target market. With a sky-high price tag and endless bespoke customization options available, the Ghost can still look and feel fresh and new.
