The McLaren 570GT carries over for 2019.
The 570GT shares most of its carbon-fiber chassis with the 570S Coupe. However, one of the easiest ways to tell them apart is the rear section. Where the 570S Coupe’s interior stops abruptly behind the front seats, creating a shelf for just the engine, the 570GT gets a rear hatch made up of carbon fiber and glass. It swings to the side to provide access to a leather-lined luggage area directly over the engine that McLaren calls the touring deck. The 570GT includes 7.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear, which is enough room for weekend luggage, and 5.3 cubic feet in front. Within the 570GT’s cabin itself, both occupants get to enjoy deeply bolstered power-adjustable seats with memory settings and a panoramic glass roof that helps things feel much airier.
McLaren graces every 570GT with a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 that puts forth 562 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, mounted in the middle of the car. Power goes solely to the rear wheels via a 7-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters. It features three driving modes, Normal, Sport, and Track, along with adaptive dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes. Electro-hydraulic steering provides the best combination of adjustability and feedback. The 570GT hits 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 204 mph. Expect fuel-economy returns of 16 mpg city, 23 highway, and 19 combined.
Amenities on the 570GT include LED exterior lighting, soft-close doors, power-folding heated side mirrors, leather upholstery, 8-way power seats with heat, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, tie-down straps and protection strips in the touring deck, a leather steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear-window defrost, a 7-inch infotainment system, navigation, an 8-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and track telemetry. From there, you can select the GT Upgrade Pack, which tacks on a power-adjustable steering column, a Bowers & Wilkins 12-speaker audio system, and a vehicle-lift system that lets you temporarily raise the car’s ride height.
For safety, the 570GT only offers a standard reversing camera. There’s no crash-test data for the 570GT.
The McLaren 570GT takes all of the brand’s track and performance prowess and deftly massages it into a package that’s all-day comfortable.
