If you're in the market for a sleek 5-passenger luxury sedan with excellent fuel mileage, the Infiniti Q70 Hybrid could be just what you're looking for. Based on the popular Infiniti Q70 sedan, the Q70 Hybrid takes the Q70's good looks and solid performance and adds a hybrid powertrain with fuel efficiency of 29 mpg city/34 highway—not bad for a 360-hp flagship luxury sedan.
Now entering its third year of production, the Q70 Hybrid is powered by a 50 kW electric motor and Infiniti's 360-hp 3.5-liter 6-cylinder gasoline engine. That engine is mated to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission and can get the car from 0 to 60 mph in just under 6 seconds—seriously impressive for a car of this size (the Q70 Hybrid tips the scales at 4,195 lbs).
While its siblings, the Q70 and Q70L, offer various trims, the Q70 Hybrid is available in just one. But with a starting MSRP of $55,900, the Q70 Hybrid packs quite a punch for its price.
Hop inside and it's hard not to be impressed by what you get for the price. On the inside, 10-way power heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and SiriusXM satellite radio are standard fare. Other standard features include push-button start, a USB port, leather seats, driver's seat memory, a 7-inch display, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and Japanese Ash wood trim. Regenerative braking, which harnesses the energy absorbed by the brakes and converts it to energy the car can use to power itself, is also standard.
If you're concerned about safety, the Q70 Hybrid has you covered. A backup camera comes standard, as do front-seat active head restraints, brake assist, 4-wheel antilock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, electronic traction control, and Infiniti's Active Airbag System, which adjusts the airbag inflation rate depending on certain collision factors.
If you decide the Q70 Hybrid is for you, but you'd like to spruce it up a bit, Infiniti has plenty of options available for doing so. Select the Premium Package and you'll get a host of cool gadgets, including navigation, a Bose 10-speaker sound system, a heated steering wheel, voice-recognition technology, a 360-degree camera, heated and cooled front seats, and sonar parking assist. If you're looking for more of a posh than a high-tech feel, the Deluxe Touring Package adds White Ash silver-powdered wood trim, Bose Surround Sound audio, semi-aniline leather seats, and a power rear sunshade. For added safety, the available Technology Package offers blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, forward emergency braking, and lane-departure warning.
Overall, the Infiniti Q70 Hybrid is a good choice for the eco-conscious consumer who still wants to have a little fun with a luxury ride. Thanks to that powerful 360-hp engine, the Q70 Hybrid can put you right back in your seat when you hit the gas, but its heated leather seats and other amenities keep you comfortable whenever your knuckles aren't white. Not only that, but the Q70 Hybrid looks great and is also quite economical for a car of its size, thanks to that hybrid powertrain.
