Following a mid-generation design refresh in 2009, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class midsize SUV remains essentially unchanged for 2009. The M-Class offers a roomy interior with upscale features like Burl Walnut trim and a premium leather four-spoke steering wheel, as well as such standard safety features as the Pre-Safe occupant-protection system, which automatically repositions the front seats and tightens seat belts to better protect the occupants if it detects an impending collision. In addition, the M-Class now comes standard with front-seat Neck-Pro head restraints, which help reduce whiplash in the event of an accident or sudden stop.
For 2010, the M-Class consists of the ML350, ML550, and ML63 AMG trims, each with a different powerplant. The ML350 leads off with a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, which produces 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine features continually variable timing on both the intake and exhaust valves, which helps conserve fuel while ensuring good acceleration off the mark and immediate throttle response at virtually any driving speed. The ML350 jumps out from 0-60 in 7.9 seconds, and manages fuel economy numbers of 16/21 mpg.
Stepping up a notch, the ML550 comes equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 engine. It generates 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, and drives the ML350 from 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. At the top of the line, the ML63 AMG retains its hefty 6.2-liter V8 engine, which pumps out 503 hp and an impressive 465 lb-ft of torque. With all that power and torque, the ML63 AMG roars from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds. The ML550 posts fuel economy numbers of 13/18 mpg, while the ML63 AMG, with its big V8, manages only 11/15 mpg.
The V6 and V8 engines in the ML350 and ML550 link to a seven-speed automatic transmission, which adapts its shifting patterns to the driver's style and features two overdrive gears to help conserve fuel at cruising speeds. The V8 in the ML63 AMG mates to a seven-speed AMG 7G-tronic automatic transmission with fingertip shift paddles located on the steering wheel, so drivers can manually shift gears when desired. In addition, the ML550 comes equipped with Mercedes' 4MATIC AWD system, which features a permanent 40/60 front-to-rear torque split. The system, which works in conjunction with a four-wheel electronic traction system, sends torque to the wheels with the most traction in slippery road conditions to ensure optimal grip and stability. An electronic stability program and antilock brakes with brake assist come standard on all M-Class trims.
The M-Class can accommodate five passengers in its comfortable, well-equipped cabin. Standard features for the ML350 and ML550 include an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a power sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and an 8-speaker audio system with speed-sensitive volume, a 6-CD changer, and an MP3 input jack. MB-Tex leatherette upholstery and Brown Birdseye Maple wood trim give the cabins an upscale feel. Leather seats and heated front seats remain options for both trims.
As befitting its status as the top-of-the-line trim, the ML63 AMG ups the ante with a long list of upscale standard features, including Nappa leather upholstery, a 610-watt, 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with a 6-CD changer, a voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic information, and Mercedes' COMAND system, which drivers can use to manage the audio, climate control, and navigation systems. In addition, the ML63 AMG includes a number of unique features designed by AMG, Mercedes' in-house sport tuner, including AMG front sport seats, an AMG-designed ergonomic sport steering wheel, brushed stainless steel sport pedals with black rubber pads, and an AMG instrument cluster.
Exterior features for the M-Class include a distinctive front grille, chiseled bumpers, running boards, front foglights, heated power mirrors, taillights with smoked glass, and chrome exhaust tips. The ML350 and ML550 ride on 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, while the ML63 AMG cruises on 20-inch AMG-designed alloy wheels with high-performance tires.

The M-class is a great car and ride. I have owned one ( 4 in total ) in the past 2007.
I still give it a 5 Stars despite the down side that it uses only premium gas all life which makes running a little costly. However, I believe who get it should be able to fuel it. Maintenance cost may also be pricy once it is out of the warranty zone of time. Aug 13, 2022

I had a 2007 ml63 so the features are a little dated as compared to whats in the newer vehicles but the vehicle is an amazing by that yrs standard. The price is a little steep for a 12yr old car in my opinion but thats my opinionApr 16, 2022

We love this car, it accelerates quickly and handles just as you would want a Mercedes-Benz to. It is easy to control, it make us feel safe and handle great in any season of the year. Hybrids don't have a significant difference in mileage city vs highway, when compared to gasoline engines, and their LiPo batteries are toxic waste when their life is all used up within 5 years. People are amazed to find out it's Diesel because of how quiet it is. The pick and go is there for the taking. This interior design is what I initially fell in LOVE with, when I first sat in a ML at the L.A. Auto show in 2006. Then in 2010 I bought one with everything I wanted on it, running boards, Bluetec trim, entertainment pkg, towing pkg, etc. One thing I do regret, is paying for unnecessary warranties, like for the windshield cracking, that was $210 at least, for something my full coverage insurance would've covered and I also paid $10,000 extra for a Perma-Plate interior exterior coating which in the end SUCKED, because they never covered my paint scratches, and never came to clean my interior as promised. I highly suggest, to not fall for all the add-ons a dealership will try and impose on your final sale. Price began at 59k and ended up being 74k when all said & done. It was alright though, I had the financial means to go all out. So, I did, with my first new vehicle purchase. No auto loan required. I did my research on Edmunds and Consumer Reports, before making my decision and did test-drive other comparable vehicles, and none matched up to the integrity of a Mercedes Benz. Besides, no other new vehicle, smells as GOOD, as a brand new Mercedes Benz, and I can't wait to purchase another. Either AMG, or, another Bluetec/BlueEfficiency.Sep 05, 2013

The ride of the 2010 Mercedes-Bens-Benz ML 350 is a combination of great handling, comfort and style. You would't belive it's an SUV. I've owned 2 ML 350's and I do recommend it to everyone. I've also test driven BMW X5 and Lexus RX 350, but the feeling that I get from driving this 2010 Merecedes- Benz ML 350 is UNMATCHED.Mar 23, 2013

2010 Mercedes ML350 Bluetec Diesel
Hi all; I have a 2010 Mercedes ML350 Bluetec Diesel which I acquired about 6 months ago and so love it. My engine warning light came on about a month ago and I took it to a mechanic I've just started seeing for regular maintenance. They have foreign cars for sale and also service them. They scanned the vehicle and said the service code that came up was for a malfunctioning exhaust system EGR valve. They inspected it, tested and couldn't find any visual fault with it. They reset the system and test drove it afterwards but could find no drivability concerns, and the light remained off. They recommended i drive it again to see if the light came on again which they thought would indicate an internal fault with the EGR valve. After a few days of driving, the engine warning light came on again. I took it back to the mechanic, they inspected it again with the same result but determined that the EGR valve must have internal malfunction and that it should be replace for $1200 - $2000 depending on part cost. They scheduled the repair and purchased the part for $800. I have now been driving the vehicle for 2 weeks and the light has not come back on. Can someone give some advice as to whether the EGR valve should actually need replacing if the engine light is remaining off for this long? If I was to take the vehicle to another repair shop would they recommend the same service? Or could this be another simple problem? I have some concerns about the judgement the current service mechanics are making... that I should spend this amount of money when there is no concrete evidence that the EGR valve is faulty.... much appreciated

Key does not activate the ignion
I have a 2010 ml 63 AMG. The key opens all doors. When I put the key into the ignition nothing happens. I can turn the key but no idiot lights car doesn't start it's dead normally the easy entry kicks by the steering wheel moving into position the dash lights come on and I can start the car. Now nothing. Just had the car in for a big service no report of a problem.

Help. Please, help. I purchased a 2009 Mercedes ML350 (diesel) AWD SUV from a family member. They were told the motor was locked up... It wasn't and turned easily when we turned manually. The starter was bad so it was replaced. The car immediately cranked after replacing start but will not crank but will shut off within 30 seconds or when you press the accelerator. Help.
