Audi dramatically reshaped the A4 luxury sedan for 2009, creating a car that's not only longer (by four and a half inches overall) and wider (by two inches), but lighter and slightly lower as well. You can probably guess the results. Drivers and reviewers note that the A9 Audi A4 feels more firmly planted to the ground, with a better stance, more stability, and quicker acceleration, thanks to the use of ultra-high-strength steel that enables the A4's body shell to shed unnecessary pounds by 10 percent.
The A4 offers drivers a more balanced driving experience as well, since it rides on a new platform that moves the engine back by about five inches, so that it's now located behind the front axle, providing better overall weight distribution. In addition, the steering system has been redesigned for a tighter, more responsive feel.
Outside, Audi has made subtle yet significant changes to the A4's design, now highlighted by a longer hood, shortened body overhangs, and an overall sculpted yet sportier appearance. The distinctive deep-mouthed grille remains, and Audi has added LED running lights beneath the headlights.
Inside, the Audi A4 continues to set the standard for its class, according to drivers and reviewers. The A4's new longer profile results in more interior space, especially for those in the rear seats, and the seats themselves have been redesigned for better comfort. The dash and center console have been redesigned as well for better ease of use, and even the pedals have received a revamp, with better positioning. Audi has increased the A4's trunk space as well.
New features for the 2009 Audi A4 include Drive Select, which enables drivers to choose from three settings that make adjustments to the engine, transmission, and suspension to provide three different driving options -- Comfort, Dynamic, and Auto. The Comfort mode provides smoother shifting and a softer ride, while the Dynamic mode offers drivers a tighter, sportier feel that communicates more of the road. (Some drivers and reviewers do not recommend this setting over rough surfaces.) The Auto setting finds a common place between the two other modes.
Power for early trims in the North American market will be provided by a new 265-horsepower, 3.2-liter direct-injection V6 engine designed for fuel efficiency as well as high performance. Audi will also offer the A4 with a turbocharged four cylinder. The V6 links to a six-speed automatic transmission designed for smooth acceleration.
Most drivers and reviewers agree that the A4's refresh was a much needed one, given the competition in the entry-level luxury sedan class from both BMW and Mercedes-Benz. And most agree that the makeover results in an A4 that's even more competitive, particularly when it comes to the sedan's interior. Some question the A4's ride, particularly when drivers choose the Dynamic setting on Drive Select, but overall the 2009 Audi A4 receives high marks from drivers and reviewers.

No real dislikes other then the usual things that are pretty much common on any high end German car such as high maintenance cost and the complicated set-up, but you get what you pay for...Over all love the car and if you can find a trustworthy aftermarket Audi mechanic maintenance cost can be kept in check and you'll have a car that you'll be proud to Own.May 15, 2015

The Aesthetics of this car are amazing. Its sleek, its design well put together. The car is very comfortable. the seats are designed very ergonomically so long rides are comfortable. The ergonomics of the control panels are very easy to use. The car is very quiet and there are no true blind spots. The car was only serviced for regular maintenance. The gas mileage is approx. 26 in the city, 30 on the highway (I have the CVT trans). The acceleration is what you would expect for a mid size, except when in sport mode, its crazy fast. I put ceramic pads on my A4 because the brake dust is unbearable. This took care of the issue. This is a fun car that is safe to drive.Mar 28, 2015

What drew me to this car was the natural lines of the car. The audi a4 has such a sleek beautiful design and the LED daytime running lights are the cherry on top. I went ahead and added a full AccuAir air ride suspension to the car, along with an RS4 Grille, front lip and VIP Modular wheels to make it unique.Aug 23, 2014

This car is pretty great. I would have liked it to have the DSG dearbox found in the GTI as it uses a tuned version of the same engine. Other than that, no complaints. Also if I bought new, I would have chosen the white with the s-line trim. Aug 13, 2010

The 2.0T with mandatory automatic is
SLOOOWWWW... It actually is the slowest car I have
driven in quite a long time. I didn't get on it during
the test drive, which I suppose would not have
changed my mind, when it comes down to it. The 6
cylinder is 10 grand more as equipped, which I just
couldn't reckon with. There's still no competition
for this car. The VW Eos just looks too feminine for
me, and BMW thinks convertibles don't need AWD,
so they are out of the running. Since this is my
daily driver year round, I needed something that
could be hyper-competent in our northeastern
winters- I'm confident in this cars capacity to be
that, in addition to a stylish fair weather drop-top.
Can someone PLEASE help me kill this incessant
seat belt chime?? I can't even put my briefcase on

I just had a chance to drive the new 2009 Audi A4 Quattro 3.2. What an unbelievable experience. It far surpasses the BMW 328xi, Mercedes 300 4matic and Lexus 250is awd that I also drove. I drove all 4 vehicles around a track and got to experience all 4 vehicles firsthand. The handling, braking, steering, acceleration were all superior in new 2009 Audi A4 Quattro. The Mercedes was the most luxurious inside, but felt like my mom's car, the Lexus was underpowered but I like the looks, the BMW was my second choice. I'd take the A4 over any of them.Jul 31, 2008

Help, i have codes, MOD, P0299 Turbo Underboost Condition; CONFIRMED; MOD, P0299 Turbo Underboost Condition; PENDING; ECM, 5671 (hex) 1627; ABS, 1314 engine control module, STORED; ABS, 532 Voltage Supply Signal Too Small, STORED; ABS 446, STORED; ABS 473, ACTIVE; ABS 285, Right Front Antilock Brake System Wheel Speed Sensor Signal, STORED MIL. ABS 283, Left Front Antilock Brake System Wheel Speed Sensor Signal, STORED MIL. Car Runs Normal but did notice it took awhile to speed up when pressing on the gas. I do have new parts in it, PCV Valve, Coils, Spark Plugs, New Oil, Air Filter, New Camshaft Bracket and Camshaft Control Valve, New Radiator, Timing Chain, Tensioner. Also cleaned the Maf Sensor. Car had just been fixed from rough idling /misfires due to the broken camshaft bracket and valve. But got check engine light and got these codes any suggestions help. I bought a diverter valve to see if it changes anything but hasnt came in yet.
