The torque and handling of this car is quite good. The AWD is excellent for improved handling in the warm months and is amazing in the winter. It should be noted that this car doesn't handle as well as the non-turbo subarus in the winter due to it's increased torque. All around great car would recommend, especially for areas that receive snow.Oct 21, 2013

Great all around car. Also very upgradeable for those who love performance.
Stock out of the box it is fast enough to get you in trouble, yet civilized enough to
drive daily and not be targeted by the cops. Highly recommended for those who
need a performance oriented daily driver. Plus, the AWD is GREAT and the boxer

Performance: Awesome acceleration with the turbo, the handling is
precise and the AWD makes it perfect for any conditions
Build Quality: That's the main drawback about this car. There are a lot
of squeaks and the quality material is very cheap (if you compare to a
VW golf 2011 for example...). The clutch pedal squeaks. I even had to
repair a button, that disappeared in the dashboard when i pushed it...
But everything is reliable, no bad words there.
Appearance: Everyone likes it. Especially in red (very rare). I like the
look of the hatchback, without the look of a Yaris.
I have to say the gas mileage is not very great. That's because of the
turbo and the AWD system... there's a price for having fun!
I like this car a lot, for it's acceleration, it's AWD system and great

The WRX and STi are very tunable cars. It is very easy to install standard bolt
ons. They produce a lot of power for such a small displacement motor. I've
owned mine brand new since march of '08. Got the basic bolt ons producing
about 300 whp. The acceleration is great, very quick, especially when the turbo
kicks in at 3400 rpm and hold boost til red line at 7k. Prolly need to upgrade the
brake pads to some Hawks since i've done a little bit of auto-x and drag for
time. The handling is superb. I've upgraded the suspension, its lowered and i've
stiffened up the sways. Its always a blast to drive it! rain or shine. snow. night
or day. bring me whatever elements and i'll drive thru it. give me some corners

I have a 2008 Outback Sport, not a WRX. The car is good for going
around town and dirt roads. Definitely not a race car or anything like an
STi. Could use a 5 speed automatic, the 4 speed isn't fun and it revs way
past redline. Lots of road noise on the highway but you get used to it.
The suspension is great and I like how it is higher than a normal
Impreza. Overall great car for an outdoors person like myself. Soon i

Great mix of a little comfort, more than enough room, and pretty quick
/ great handling. Really fun to drive - enough power to get in trouble,
but not that much really - I floor it several times each drive, without
getting in too muchtrouble. LOVES the curves.
Styling is enough for me, not the best looking car but I really don't care.
Mileage is good enough, about 19-20 driven aggressively like usual, 24
if i want to get mileage, and 28-30 on the highway (abot 70 the
mileage drops a lot).
AWD's nice - dont have to buy rear tires often!
The '08s have the softest suspension of all WRXs, so I'm replacing the
bushings... will do sway bars alsso before too long. OEM Brake pads
insufficient for aggressive driving.

Last WRX sedan available at Subaru before the new even uglier hatch. Drove both and the suspension/ handling way better on the sedan than the new hatch.
This car feels bulletproof and after having owned 4 Subaru's I know that it is. Planning on keeping this one for a few years to come...

The engine has been amped up to the 2.5 L, much like the previous year's STi. Still a 5 spd transmission, but a dream to drive. The body style reminds me of a Honda... but it's still nice to look at. Also, the inside is a lot more roomy - which also takes away from trunk space (you can put down the back seats though). Surprisingly, these are going for around the same price as the 04-05 STi's. This is a great base to start with if you like to play with cars. The only thing I wish is that it had a better stock suspension. Other than that, the power is good, as is the acceleration. The premium package has some nice features such as a nav system and a very nice sound system. Overall, I would say that this is a fun car to drive. I can't wait for the winter, when I can really make use of the AWD.Nov 15, 2008

Could use a little more turbo oomph like the older WRXs.
Interior plastics scratch quite easily, but other than that, the WRX is a solid car. After lowering it, I have to worry about speed bumps and snow. But still goes where you want it to go. Best car I ever owned. Sep 13, 2008

This car is so SMOOTH! I love driving it, whenever I get the chance. Its acceleration is flawless, and gives you quite a rush. Anyone looking for a fun car to own, this is definitely one to consider! This car is one of my favotite; It got a lot of power a good handling and a little bit more classy than the previus versions of the WRX. At around 34 K for a sedan model, the ''Power VS COST ratio'' is one of the best on the market !!! Of corse the AWD system bring the WRX to a hole new level compare to most of the cars in the same category.

Bought this car in October and I never want to stop driving it. 2.5 turbocharged engine with a 5 speed short throw shifter. Bosst kicks in at about 2,500 to 2,800 and it puts out 12lbs stock! 225 HP 226 TQ from a 2.5L engine and im averaging 23 MPG even when I go out racing on the weekends. Handles great thru the canyons. Fun to drive in the snow, rain, dirt, mud anything really, the all wheel drive makes it all possible, just dont get cocky and forget you dont have tons of ground clearence and try to go off roading.They made this engine a lot more efficent and powerful than the previous engines, widened the wheel base and tucked the ass in so its not hanging out so far as on older stylesApr 22, 2008

I've done a PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on two of these, and I was very impressed with the speed and the handing, interior layout is nice, seats are supportive but still cushy. The ouside, however, isn't all that great. Yeah the hood scoop adds to the sportiness, the plain jane N/A imprezas are a lot less cool looking, but I don't think they are anywhere near as sporty looking as the older ones, especially the 5 door. I also think it's kind of dumb that the STI ONLY comes in a 5 door.Apr 01, 2008

Subaru has no power at all , key won’t unlock car
I drove my car in the morning, everything was fine except the steering was a little stiff but that cleared up as i kept pulling out of the drive way. I came come parked and about 4 hours later went to get back in my car but my remote wouldn’t open the door and neither would the key. I called tow place and they couldn’t get my car started after breaking in. They tested the battery and said it was good, so was the main fuse. He finally tired to unplug all power and plug it back in but no luck. Car has no power at all. New car, bought it from dealership about a week ago.
