In 2007, the Ford F-450 Super Duty joined the Ford F-250 and the F-350 in the Super Duty lineup. And as its designation indicates, it's the most powerful of the bunch. The F-450 has the highest towing capacity of any non-commercial vehicle in the U.S., capable of towing up to 24,500 pounds with a fifth-wheel hookup. That makes it the truck of choice for drivers who need to tow trailers, RVs, boats, or other heavy loads.
The Super Duty series has been completely redesigned for 2008, the first revamp in a decade, and the F-450 is a beneficiary of that redesign, since it sports a bold new exterior design as well as all sorts of cutting-edge features.
Design-wise, the F-450 has a large, imposing grille stamped with the Super Duty name, stacked front headlights, sculpted fender flares, and embossed fender vents that release engine heat. Optional PowerScope mirrors adjust, telescope, or fold as needed.
Power is provided by a 6.4-liter, 350-horsepower Power Stroke V8 diesel engine with dual-stage turbochargers. The engine incorporates Clean Diesel Technology and is optimized to use the latest ultra-low sulfur fuel. It's linked to a six-speed manual TorqShift overdrive transmission with a selectable Tow/Haul mode.
Other features include a toughened suspension and the first-ever factory-installed integrated Trailer Brake Controller that works with the antilock brakes to synchronize truck and trailer brakes for seamless braking when hauling loads.
The F-450 is available with a regular cab (the XL trim), a supercab (the XLT trim), or a crew cab (the Lariat trim). The XLT trim package includes a chrome grille with platinum insert, power side mirrors, power windows, and cruise control, while the Lariat trim adds leather-trimmed front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, woodgrain-style interior trim, fog lights, and polished aluminum wheels.
Other options include a Stowable Bed Extender, which splits, folds, and stows in the sides of the bed, and an integrated tailgate step.

The 6.4 l diesel engine is problematic at best it was only made from 2008 to 2010 and answer to the problem child 6.0 l. If it had a 6.7 l or 7.3 l in it I would have bought it right then and there. The 6.4 l when it has any major engine problems its a cab off repair thus escalating the cost. The Pistons are poorly designed when they get up in age and mileage they have a tendency to crack requiring a major rebuilt. So I personally Im staying away from any Ford product with the 6.0 l or a 6.4 l. Other than that I love the Ford trucksMar 11, 2023

Absolutely love this truck. It's work truck meets luxury. Plenty of power and towing capability. The poor fuel economy and sluggish handling go hand in hand with a truck that weighs 7 tons. Great work truck, pulls a ton better than the 02' 350. The automatic shift while towing in cruise is a surprising bonus - this would sound amazing with stacks ;) Just waiting for the perfection of removing the afterburner junk.
Handles and accelerates well. Payments on the high side - gas milage was terrible for first 8k km but is slowly coming down to roughly 23k/100l pulling a full load.
Dissapointed that you can not get the king ranch in one solid colour and you even have to pay an extra 300+ on the sticker price for the ugly beige trim. Tires are massive at 19.5inches - though the chip for the newer models promises it can recalibrate speed with smaller tire size.Jul 28, 2008
