The 599 GTB Fiorano has been called one of the greatest Ferrari road cars ever - until the next model arrives. Sculpted by Pininfarina and the wind tunnel, the 599 is drop-dead gorgeous. And the engineering can only be described as drop-dead amazing.
The heart and soul of any Italian automobile has to be its engine. The 599 has inherited the fabulous Enzo supercar's V12. The 6.0-liter has evolved from the Enzo into the 599's all-aluminum V12 that makes 612 hp at 7,600 rpm with an 8,400 redline. And yes, the short-stroked V12 sounds like a Formula 1 racer when it soars toward those lofty rpm levels. With a 6.1-pound/hp weight-to power ratio, reviewers verified 3.3 seconds to 60 and 11.2 seconds at 131 mph covering a quarter mile. Ferrari claims the 599 tops out at about 205 mph. The optional $18,550 carbon-ceramic brakes will rein all of this in, with 70 mph to a stop accomplished in 148 feet, nine less than an Audi R8.
Power transmits through another engineering wonder: the F1-SuperFast six-speed transmission. This clutch pedal-less transmission incorporates an electronic clutch and shifts at electronic speed. In its most aggressive mode, the F1-SuperFast transmission can wing off shifts at 100 milliseconds (0.1 second) - current Formula 1 race cars shift in about 50 milliseconds. Put in the appropriate "mode," the 599 will launch without wheel spin to pick off those amazing acceleration numbers.
The 599's semiactive suspension glues it to the road when those twelve cylinders begin to sing. Combining a front and rear forged-aluminum double-wishbone suspension with magneto-rheological dampers (first time for Ferrari) - similar to the system in some Corvettes - the system reacts four times faster to road dynamics than traditional oil-based dampening systems. Reviewers unanimously report handling that matches any sports car's with a lack of the harshness associated with those shorter-wheelbased two-seaters. Yet the roomy and impeccably finished 599 drives like a daily driver.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano makes grown reviewers wring their hands with consternation as to how to raise a quarter of a million dollars to possess one. It's really that good.

I call it the refined Dodge Viper...It has power and torque that is all you can want but is very controllable. The F1 tranny is a blast and keeps you focused on the road. It does everything well as a car of this caliber should.. It has it all Beauty,Power,ComfortMay 11, 2012

This car is amazing, strait fom the beautiful country of Italy. It doesn't help either that it has 620bhp or (break horse power) coming from its 6.0 liter V-12 engine with 7600rpm or ( revelutions per second) and almost 615 pounds of torque. You will also be going very fast with its 0 to 60 time of 3.7 seconds and a 0 to 120 time of 10.2 seconds. the handeling is amazing, if you know how to drive a manual transmission and drive period than this is the car for you. Now gas milage well never mind that! O and also the cost of course. the price is a measly $308,000, but it is soooo worth it when its top speed is 207mph WOW. And maintenance well its Italian it will last forever. This car is just sooo much fun.

I've had some race training in this car. Fantastic handling, especially considering the FR arrangement. Stunning noise and performance, though launch control in my opinion is completely useless. In my opinion, the car has lost some of the Ferrari touch. Every thing is just absolutely perfect about the car, there is no flaw in driving it, its exciting don't get me wrong, but it just feels like a giant computer. I drove an older 355 and a Lotus Esprit V8 earlier that day and that was just so much more fun, it was like actually driving. The 599 GTB is a fantastic car and I love it to pieces, but it's lost that touch of crazy and wildness, it's just a bit too perfect. If i were actually going to buy this car, I would weave off and go and buy the Lotus Esprit V8, just as comfortable, just as good a soundtrack, but just so much more fun.Jul 20, 2008

this car is absolutely insane. it accelerates like you would not believe and its top end is well over 200 and it doesnt take much to bury the needle. It is a beautiful car it was well built just like any ferrari and it is probably the best ferrari has ever made. You sink right into the seats and they wrap right around you making you feel safer and it handles the road so tight its unreal.The price is up there but if you can afford a ferrari this is the one to buy hands down!Jul 09, 2008
