The Cadillac SRX went through a few cosmetic changes for 2005, including new trim and a modified instrument panel. Otherwise, this steady and reliable midsize SUV still offers 2 main trims: the V6 and V8, both in RWD and AWD versions. The SRX V6 uses a 3.6 L, 255 hp powertrain while the V8 uses a 4.6 L, 320 hp engine. Both have 5 speed automatic transmission.
Between the 2 trims, expect to get around 15 mpg in the city and 21 on the highway. Both trims have 4 doors, seat 7, and offer standard air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, ABS brakes, traction control, stability control, and sunroof (on the V8). Sunroof (on the V6) and navigation system come as options. If you need room for your crew carry-on items, the 2005 Cadillac SRX has 124 cubic feet of passenger space and 32.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the second row up. Finally, the SUV tows anywhere from 1000 to 3500 lbs., with an option to upgrade to 4250.
Overall, drivers like the SRX's powerful engines, roomy interior, and optional third row seat. However, reviewers would appreciate better gas mileage and better interior materials. In any case, the 2005 SRX presents a solid option for those in the market for an elegant midsize SUV that bears the prestigious Cadillac name.

It handles nicely. The gas mileage isn't as bad as I fought it was going to be. I think it handsomely appointed and very attractive on the inside. The braking is perfect for regular road conditions. It's not all that fun to drive, but then again, it's probably not supposed to be that way. Maintenance is a little high on everything I've had done to it. This is the first Cadillac I ever owned, bought it used from a local Cadillac dealer and loved it. I never had the oil problem I read about, in fact I changed my oil every 5,000 miles and had no problem at all with it. Good over the road, drove it on a daily basis. We originally bought this because it was big - but not large, and had rear wheel drive. We later moved to the SRX in 2012 and miss the rear wheel drive of this vehicle. We did a lot of hauling big boxes and about the only reason we really sold it was because we needed better fuel economy.Jul 31, 2013

This car was very enjoyable, it is very dependable and has a very good handle. I would refer this vehicle to a friend because of its hreat looks, smooth ride and the overhead view is to die for. If your looking for a nice ride look no further cause the cadillac sxr is the right choose.Jan 03, 2013

I bought this car in place of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and have NO regrets! I would recomended this vehicle to anyone. The luxury exceeds what a Jeep can provide and the AWD works great here in the New England area. I have not had any issues with its maintenance or performance. ++++++++++ Great Car!!Oct 05, 2012

The car handles beautifully, but the maintenance issues detract from it quite a bit. We had to wait 5 weeks for the dealer to get parts from France (why France?), we've had the catalytic converters go out 3 times, the roof to rust out, and each time the cost to repair was high. I love the car, but it's falling apart.Sep 20, 2012

Dome lites wont shut off
I just bought a 2005 cadilac srx v8 80,000 miles took it on a 400 mile trip the day I bought it,it ran perfect until the end of the trip when I exited the freeway into stop and go trafic I got a transmision hot engine idle code ,pulled over and shut down for 10 minutes and code cleared, next day started cold noticed starter dragging but started,drove short distance and got transmision hot code again,shut down 10min code gone again,the engine hadn't even warmed up yet and no noticeable transmision problems,became suspicious of battery being week so bought new battery and no more transmision codes but now the alarm goes off for no reason,interior lights wont shut off,doors wont stay locked and get a rear lift hatch adjar code,driving me nuts,any ideas
