I have a 04 Chevy Classic 2.2L. Mileage about 158000. The car has been a little stressful. The car drives fine it speeds up and brakes just fine, it only vibrates pretty bad when I'm in drive at a stop light and also when I'm reversing. I took it to chevy dealership and they fixed on if the o2 sensors. They said the engine looked fine, just recommended me to get spark plugs for the vibrating. The check engine light was off for one day. I got the spark plugs replaced. But the poor idling didn't stop. I took it back to chevy and they fixed a wire and the check engine light came off for 3 days but came back. I read about it might being dirty air filter or fuel injectors or even the gas cap. Changed the air filter and gas cap but no luck. I used some fuel injector cleaner (seafoam) in the gas tank then some gas but started hearing a new noise when accelerating that wasn't happening before. I took it to AutoZone to see if i got any codes. And i got a PO455 code that indicated it was a large leak in the evap system. I took it back to chevy but they want me to pay another diagnosis to check out the problem. I don't want to keep wasting money. Anyone can help by telling me what i need to do to find the culprit myself.
I have a 2004 Chevy Classic. I just bought it last year, 174,000 miles. The first time the anti theft system malfunctioned I thought it was my fuel pump, starter, or out of gas. I know nothing about cars! After noticing my blinking theft system light, a quick googled search showed me how to reset the system. (I used the-- turn key to "on" leave for 10 minutes until light stops blinking, turn back to "off" position, then start. worked like a charm) I've gotten used to running out to start my car 10 minutes before actually having to leave. (this happens a lot!) Last weekend my theft system light came on, but was not flashing and would just stay on. I tried the 10 minute reset, the lock/ unlock, something about messing with the radio power button. Nothing worked! I decided to let it be and took my husbands car. After a few hours of not trying, my husband went out and started messing with the power locks, and radio, put the key in the ignition and the damn thing started right up!! Again today this happened. After spending 2 1/2 hours in the parking lot of work (tried disconnecting the battery, leaving it for 15 minutes then hooking it back up) I had my husband make the 30 minute drive to pick me up. Okay! after that long winded explanation I need to know how to get my car started!! I'm fed up and just want to sell it! Any suggestions on anything I haven't tried yet. I'm very confused as to why my light went from blinking when this happened, to a solid light??
So im helping my friend chang out his alternator in an 04 chevy classic with the 2.2l ecotec engine but we had the wrong alternator for the car took it back and traded it for a different alternator for that engine and it still doesnt fit he had his engine replaced awhile back and we dont know what it came out of is there a difference in the engine based on what it came out of thank you
My 2004 classic stalled on me twice in one day. It has stalled only once last week. For a while now the rpms will rise by them self when I am at a stop in Drive. The rpms will go from 6/700 to about 1500 then slowly back down, sometimes staying at 1000rpms. This will some times happen while I am in park. On colder mornings and afternoons when it is below zero the car starts at 1500pms. I dont know if this matters or not but when I am stopped at a light and the car revs the car will lunge forward and the car will some times rev high when I turn on the defrost. Today I stopped at the mailbox and put the car into park it died. Then I started the car, I was almost in front of my home when the car died while in Drive. I tried to start it and it would not. The battery light and and the engine oil pressure light came on. This is a first. I let the car sit for 10/15 minuets then it started right back up.
