Overall pretty good solid truck, but have had some problems. I would recommend this truck to a friend, but with several warnings! But I might get a Nissan Fronteer Quad Cab, or a GMC Sierra, or Chevy Silverado next time. I've used my truck for all around commuting to work, family outings, towing boat, hauling wood and soils, and just about everything in between.Mar 19, 2015

Good Truck for work and play, this truck is good for towing, hauling and since it is a quad cab, carrying your family and friends to work and on vacation. Get a used one and have a good deal for everyone.Feb 16, 2015

This truck drives and looks awesome. The 4x4 is a great asset in the snow or for off rading if needed. It has great pulling power and great for either a workhorse or a family car. Mom likes it for its safety and the built in dvd player keeps the kids happy. Awesome truck.Jan 23, 2015

I love the truck. I've been using it during hunting season for the past 4 years and it has Never left me stranded or let me down, as of yet anyway, Gas mileage is good for the engine size (4.7L V8) and as long as you keep your foot out of it while driving on highways. I do wish it had more bang for the buck as far as power goes though, it doesn't seem to have as much power as you would expect for a V8 engine, but overall, I am extremely happy with my pickup. It is great for towing, hauling, four-wheelin', and is a pleasure to drive and own. the only real issue I have is accessing portions of the engine especially right now when I am trying to replace both battery cables. I cannot seem to find a way to access the part of the positive battery cable that attaches to the starter portion of the engine. I have been trying everything I can think of, aside from actually removing other parts on the engine, to access it and remove the old cable. I'm gonna try removing parts today and see if that allows me access to it so i can get my truck back up and running again. I really do love my truck 99% of the time. LOLMay 20, 2014

This is our camper truck. It is great for us and the dogs. Handles well with pulling the camper. Love the color. Comfortable to travel in. Nice to drive. Great room on the inside. Easy maintenance. Would buy another. This is the third that I have had. Nov 08, 2013

The advantages and comforts are obvious from the first time you sit in the driver's seat, while the fuel mileage will bring you back to reality quickly. The whole family can be hauled without anyone touching each other, and the baby in the car seat is well protected if we were to wreck. From 50-70 mph, you are hard pressed to find a more powerful V8 without a tiny two seater sports coupe. Highly recommend this vehicle...if you live close to a gas station.Jun 07, 2013

I use this truck for everything from daily driving, to hauling, to storm chasing. The 5.7 Hemi is more than enough to handle any situation and the 4x4 system is top-notch. I also thing the Ram has the nicest interior of any truck out there.Mar 27, 2013

This truck will always turn on and run when you need it to. It has always been reliable. It has been used for 10 years and still runs great with 115,000 miles on it. Definitely for someone looking for a trusty and good looking vehicle.Mar 10, 2013

I can't say anything bad about this truck, She has been nothing but loyal and hard working for me. Yes I refer to her as a person simply because that's how I've taken care of it since I bought it back in 2003. I have yet to find it's limits I've towed 4 wheelers w/camp trailers at the same time, race car trailers, been hunting in the rocky mountains of Colorado, off road driving, and cruising downtown. I have no doubt that the next owner will love it just as much as I do. Dec 03, 2012

This has been a totally trouble free vehicle and looks great and still runs like new. Never been in any accident. No rust, every thing works like new. Rear tires are almost new and the front tires are in good condition.May 09, 2012

Overall its a great and good looking truck .I have driven to Md and Virginia in this truck a few times and its very comfortable . I never worry about having any trouble with it mechanically.Last year I did replace the radiator and hoses.I would feel very confident to hop in it right now and drive to California. Apr 30, 2012

This truck has taken me and my family on trips to AZ, Mo, and IA multiple times, been there to haul everything I have asked, hauled my 67 Charger home, and just been a fathful vehicle. It currently has over 178000 miles, and still going strong. The performance is awesome, no squeaks, just a few repair items, the gas mileage is what is to be expected for a V8 truck, and it is a true blast to drive!!!Feb 18, 2010

Its Got A Hemi! 0-60 6.5 seconds..little top heavy, but it handles nice for a truck. 186k miles still runs great..no tune up or any work done to powertrain . not the greatest MPG {12 city/17 highway} fun To Drive...Infinity sound system one of my favs about it. 4x4 Laramie...Did i mention Its Got a Hemi?Sep 27, 2009

What's not to like, 345bhp, 6 seats, comfy, sounds awesome, carries the camping gear. Not the fastest thing on 4 wheels but faster than 3 tons should be. Fuel economy? Yeah right. Better than a Shogun! There is no replacement for displacement! Best thing i've ever bought, aiming to keep it till it's a classic.Nov 14, 2008

The Dodge Ram 1500 is a very tough truck! Its frame is extremely strong and can handle most anything you throw at it. Yes it is a fully boxed in frame. The Ram's appearance is also very good looking (especially the sport package Ram with the painted grill). The massive grill makes it look like a beast and makes you not wanna get into a wreck with this machine. the interior is of fair quality. It could be better, its just a little plain but nothing too boring. Performance wise it gets a 4/5. The reason why the vehicle gets that rating is solely because very few people realize how heavy the Ram 1500 actually is. The Ram weighs in at a whopping 6650 LBS!!! For those of you who don't know.... THAT IS MASSIVE. most diesel trucks will weigh about that much. It makes for a slower acceleration, but the HEMI engine helps make up for the slower acceleration since it is quite the powerful motor (and personally my favorite). The brakes of the Ram are quite powerful and really make for fast stopping. the Ram comes with standard four piston brakes. The trucks handling is so so. Once again the handling isn't all it can be due to the weight of the truck. The weight really takes away from the alot of the performance factors. Next on the list is cost of ownership. The Ram really isn't as bad on gas as you might think. Most people get worried when they hear MPG and HEMI in the same sentence. With the HEMI engine I've experienced about 15.5 MPG. But this is only due to a $350 Volant CAI I invested in. Without it you should expect between 11-14 MPG and that can be quite terrifying at the gas pump. Lasty, the truck is somewhat fun to drive, especially if you are wanting to go off road or run something over.Oct 11, 2008

performance is great 5.9 l v8 lots of poewr but thirsty, build quilty is awesome thing is bullet proof. appearence is sweet black clearcoat with tonneau and rool pan nice alloy wheels, cost of owmership is pricy but u get what u pay for. fun to drive. If u are in the truck market i recommend dodge ram. Toyota no match.Oct 04, 2008

This truck is fast as hell. Also durable and can be taken anywhere. With the 5.7 Hemi and 360 Horsepower this truck isnt messin around. Sleek tonneau cover and hood scoop add to the detail as well at 20 inch chrome wheels. Ive never lost a race so if you think you can beat it, step up!Aug 29, 2008

My truck performance wise is amazing. It accelerates hard when u want it to, has disc brakes all around so can stop on a dime and handles like a charm. The build quality is pretty good, there are no squeaks or rattles. My truck looks amazing in my opinion. It is all black and sparkles like a diamond. The fuel mileage isnt the best, I think I average about 10-12 miles a gallon in town and probably 15 or 16 on the highway. I love everything about my truck and i really enjoy driving it. I love this truck. It handles like a much smaller car, with excellent cornering and acceleration. The back seat is big enough for two adults (and their sodas). It's not the most comfortable thing to sit in the back for long periods of time, but it's nice to have the option in a pickup. Lots of fun features on these trucks, too. Seems like Dodge thought of everything, with details like adjustable-size cupholders.Sep 25, 2007

03 ram 1500 4x4 5.7 hemi shuts off while driving. Doesnt seem to shift into 1st gear or overdrive

I can drive this truck for an hour sometimes with no problems and other times it will shut off 10 times in that same hour. The guages will all go to 0 and back up over and over while driving, mostly shuts off while pulling out of a stop sign seems like trans slipping then shuts off. When it shuts off it acts like I just shut the key off... no bucking or trying to run just instantly dies. Wait about 10 seconds and the dummy lights on the dash light back up and it will start right back up. also sometimes it will do it while trying to start it... it will turn over for a split second and then act like you shut the key off. Wait a few seconds and try again and it starts right up. I already replaced the ignition switch, crank shaft sensor, transmission control, transmission input and output shaft sensor. All relays.

My truck won't start and radiator reservoir fills with pressure

I blew a hose going from my block to heater core I replaced it and crankshaft sensor cause it would not start. Got it to start but blew water out my tailpipe so quickly shut it off. Had it towed home but now all it's doing is turning over and building pressure that smells like gas or exhaust in my radiator. Could this be the heads the head gasket? I'm trying to do work myself so that I can save money. Is my engine shot?
