No major changes were introduced in 2002, but the Corvette remains one of the premier sports cars in the world.
The choices of exterior color were modified slightly: electron blue replaced navy blue, and dark bowling green was no longer an option.
The special Z06 trim did gain a bigger engine with more horsepower, making it the most sought-after edition of this year's Corvette. While consumers appear to be as satisfied as ever with this car, professional editors and reviewers were disappointed with the limited new features.

I think the car has good value--mileage/looks! On vettes im not crazy about seeing more than 1 owner, but it shows to be maintained. I would compare to any of the C5 models. Having had an 02/04, they are good fit for a bigger guy. C7 is tight-fyi!Sep 15, 2021

The 2002 Corvette through the 2004 model year which was the end of the C5 production are the only year C5s to consider. Starting in 2002 Corvette made a substantial number of improvements to eliminate some of the issues that plagued earlier C5s such as a more robust driveshaft and bearings. Also upgraded were revised rear shock valving, new high-performance front brake pads, cast aluminum wheels. All Corvettes with automatic transmissions got a new aluminum tranmission cooler case instead of stainless steel. The Coupe and Convertible got a new AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD player and an available 12-disc changer (gone was the cassette). Corvette made numerous small improvements too numerous to mention that resulted in a minor horsepower increase, better handling, and driving experience. Although the 1997 through 2001 models are perfectly fine the later C5s are worth spending a little more for the improvements made. Nov 20, 2020

The C5 Corvette has its own set of problems and mechanical quirks. To me this this car is a solid 5 out of 5 but i love and have always wanted one. If you really like Corvettes, get one, you will love it!Aug 16, 2020

If I could, I'd drive this car everyday. The fuel mpg is outstanding in 6th gear. People move out of my way when I'm in the fast lane....it commands presence on the highway.

The C5 Corvette (1997-2004) made Corvette the best performer for dollars spent. The car has a proven, reliable drivetrain that delivers outstanding performance without the penalties typically associated with a sports car. It really does achieve 25-26 mpg at higher than legal speeds. It is build for cruising - handling improves with speed. Ride is remarkably comfortable, and cargo capacity is amazing. I love to take this on weekend trips. Finally, it is beautiful just sitting in the driveway - an automotive work of art. Jun 26, 2014

Its all like on this car, this is my 4th Vette, all but one bought new. The true American sports car. It has it all, power, beauty, ride, comfort (don't drive non-stop, except to fuel up, to Florida from Ohio). And compared to its foreign competition, value & price.May 07, 2014

Fun to drive, shifting gears and going around
corners. Gas mileage 26 mpg to 28 mpg on the open
road. Around town just getting up to the speed
limit is fun and watching out for speed traps. C-5

Best in the world performance. Flimsy building materials though. There's a few electrical issues. Everyone turns their heads to look at it. It gets great gas mileage for its horsepower, and is a very comfortable every day driver. All around a 9.9 out of 10 car. Feb 22, 2010

the best BANG 4 the buck and very fast car for only 350 HP stock, beaten all the way to a 600 hp VIPER
A LOT of mods for it, just wished they made a 4WD option for it, my tires only last 10k miles

This is a great, all-around performance bargain. Aside from the lackluster interior, it is certainly a solid car. Track performance is fantastic and the car is set up very well from the factory. It has a raw, race car-like quality to it that is all but absent in the new C6's. Sep 19, 2008

What's not to say about the Z06? I bought it after
having a supercharged Mustang. The build quality is
superb compared to the stang. Tight as a drum. It
still stands as the best roadtrip car I've ever owned.
Just make sure you change the stock tires out, they

My 2002 Z06 was a beast... bottom line. It was quick as hell, handled like it was on rails, sounded like a NASCAR, and had a menacing look when it first came out. I added long tube headers, Borla exhaust, short throw shifter, VaraRam CAI, and various other doo dads to make it a little more fun and more like I wanted it. All in all, the Z06 was and still is one of my favorite cars of all time.Jun 07, 2008

Electron Blue oh yeah there was a Harley made in the 60's with that color. This is the finest
automobile I will ever own. Dale and Jr. both convinced me of this world class car. I live here
Daytona Beach. Saw the two practice race here in these z06's. Man you really have to love this

Everytime I drive this car, I can't help but smile. The power is unbelieveable. Their are 2 big secrets about this car that most people don't know. The 02-04 are affordable, and they can get up to 30 mpg on the highway. I don't :) Too busy enjoying the power this thing has.Apr 04, 2008

Its no slouch stock, but if 350 hp/ 375 tq isn't enough LS-series engines are very great engines to build up. Cold-air intake exhaust and a flash program will net a lot of performance for the buck.
It handles like, well, ummm.... a Corvette!
The styling of the C5 compared to the C6 is not as aggressive, but I believe it is sleeker/sexier. Also, the C5 has more interior space than the C6 and, in my oppinion, a more aesthetically pleasing not only to look at, but to function in as well.
Another bonus is the suprising amount of storage available in the back. Even with the targa top secured in the back, the storage compartments that are built in offer plentiful storage oppurtunity.
A contributing factor to the amount of storage was the lack of a spare tire. This is because the front and rear wheels ae two different diameters, and the tires are rotational. That also means that because of the lack of a spare tire, all Corvettes meant for the street need to have Run-flats installed. They are expensive to say the least. Some could look at this as a benefit though and say that I wont beat on my car as much. In the end, EVERYTHING on the car will last longer, and will HOPEFULLY be cheaper to maintain. That thought process is out there, I know, but work with it ; ).
Some of you may say that insurance and gas on a Corvette must be rediculous, but it is only $20 more per half to insure the Corvette(in my name) than to insure a new Chevy Aveo(in my name). That is 11 cents a day I know that I am willing to spend. As for gas, If I am driving to get good gas mileage, 30-32 mpg is no problem at all. I do play around a bit though, but on average get mid-20's.
One of my favorite parts about it is that it is MINE! Corvettes are one of the most affordable true sports cars, but in my age range, there is a certain amount of exclusivity about me being a 22 year old driving my Corvette around.Apr 02, 2008

Had this car for four years so far, It fits me nicely, no other car can replace this for
the price. Bone stock, dynoed 360rwhp 350rwtq on mustang dyno.
ran 12.3@116 in the 1/4 mile. Traction control and stability kicks in when it gets out
of hand. feel pretty dummy proof. descent gas mileage, usually get 18mpg around
town 28-32mpg on the highway thanks to the gearing. Head turner, handles great,

I own a 2002 Magnetic red Vette. Neat that you can have a car you can be proud of and gets good fuel economy at the same time. What kind of questions should I be asking and what is your opinion about this car, how much does it worth "It has had a lot of modifications done to it. The engine has been swapped out from a LS1 engine to a LS3 engine. The body has 170 thousand miles on it and the motor and transmission has less than 100 thousand miles. The transmission has been upgraded. The lights have been upgraded to LED’s. It has upgraded leather seats. It has a roll bar in it. The car has lots horsepower. The rear end has been upgraded as well. The car is wired and hooked up for Nitrous" The car is red I want to paint it to White. How much I'm looking to spend. Since the car is automatic and have a lot of horsepower is it still enjoyable? Will the acceleration still fast same as manual? since the body have 170 miles will insurance be very high?
