This car is great! Fun to drive, responsive, and looks fabulous! A real head turner! Has all the features you need (no cell phone connection but you concentrate on driving and having fun. Jul 31, 2024

Same size and weight as a BMW 330Ci convertible. The R129 SL 500 is prettier but the Bimwa is more fun to drive. The hard top/ soft top Benz system is hopelessly complicated and it’s hard to find one that hasn’t been damaged from taking the hard top off/then on. It’s a REAL hassle to store as well. I have both. Jury is still out on the Benz. Nov 10, 2022

All and all it's worth it. The classic looks with much of the modern technology for a 13 year old car with 60K miles. The optional hard top is definitely a must. Triple black is the way to go with this type of vehicle.Apr 12, 2014

high performance-verygood acceleration-excellant braking-good handling
strong build and high quality-normal needs
sporty and aggrresive-luxurious and classic interior & exterior
not very high cost to own it-
it totaly for fun and hanging out racing and drifting.

This car caught my eye sitting and a used dealers lot. Not knowing what it was, I did alot of research. Finding a 2000 SL500 Designo Slate Edition for the cost of a new Fit or Fiesta seemed like a no brainer. The car is prisine, low miles and drives like brand new. The ride and quality of handling makes it a delight to drive, plus the added wow factor of a top down european luxury sports car.This car can make anyone feel like Thurston Howell III (or Lovey). It get good milage if you drive sensibly but would not use it as a daily driver if I had another car to use. It is a nice addition to my collection of drop tops and am very happy with it.Jun 22, 2010

Have a 500 SL (2000 yr). Radio works but volume knob is stripped and is set fairly low. Is there a way to raise volume to acceptable level... or exchange vol control knob..? Anyone know how to do this??

I'd like to increase the performance a little without spending a bundle. Is it possible on my 2000 Mercedes SL500?
I'm happy with the performance of my 2000 SL500, but a little more performance is always welcome. Is there some way that I can improve the performance without taking out a loan? I've had it for three years and I know that Mercedes repair rates are extremely high. The only change that I've made is to replace the stock filters to K&N filters. I just turned 62K miles.
