my 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 1500 died while running and won't start.
A couple of days before all of the time gauges on the instrument panel all went berserk and started flashing while I was driving.

2000 thru 2006 GMC and Silverado were some of the best GM ever made. Smooth powerful and very dependable. Not unusual for these trucks to get 350 thousand miles out of them. They are hard to find because so many are still on the road. Nov 23, 2021

This truck was my first truck and it lasted me a great deal of time. I was reckless at that young age and I repeatedly put the truck through misuse and abuse - I jumped railroad tracks, drifted around town, did burnouts, and the other usual kid stuff. However, even when lesser trucks would have quit, my truck just kept going. Overall you get more than what you pay for with this truck and I was impressed with its dependability.Feb 19, 2014

This is a good looking truck you can feel safe in and comfortable. It's very dependable . The heated leather seats are great in the winter and the remote start keeps it nice and toasty before you even get in. power seats and mirrors are always nice. Good all around truckAug 21, 2013

Love the truck. It has over 215,000 miles on it and the only thing that I ever did to it is but in new universal joints and a new fuel pump allong with brakes. Bought truck brand new back in 2000.

As with many chevys there many transmission issues and or other drive ability issues. all in all my truck is pretty solid . i have mad many mods to it from exhaust to a wench and ARB bull bar front bumper. i think its off roading capibilty is endless with proper mods. all and all great truck!Oct 23, 2009

Pretty fast truck cause its 2WD with a 4.8L, not bad gas millage, bout 225,000 kms on her and very few probloms other then brakes, tires, anti-frezze clamp and a bit of rust to take off by the muffler. Awesome truck and very reliable. Its a fun truck to drive.Sep 09, 2008

you really cant beat the versatility of a truck and this trucks off road ability is tremendous. 300 hp and 365 lbs of torque, disc brakes all around, handles better than most small cars. the only problem is the cost. about a thousand dollars a month between payments, insurance and gas. other than that it is my favorite vehicle i have owned. i would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fullsize pickupAug 14, 2008

I was looking for a stick shift 4X4 Pick Up and finally found one of the last factory equipped 1500's with the small 4.8l V8. The truck has not been flawless, but then I treat it like a truck and it behaves like a truck. Handles great on and off road. Superlift 6-7.5 lift kit, 1 ton torsion bars, 2" lift shackles, 5" lift springs. Total of 9" of lift. Performance wise, needs new gears to compensate for the lift and tires, but other than that, nothing needs to be changed. Overall, great truck.Apr 21, 2008

Bought it used in 2006. Never had a chevy truck before so wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasently suprised from the very first. It rides better than my 2000 Honda EX. Moved to MS and towed a 6X12 cargo trailer 800 miles fully loaded and could hardly tell it was back there except when going up steep grades. Gas milage is better than expected also. I hardly drive my car anymore, even though it gets a lot better gas milage. Am looking to upgrade for a later model Crew Cab LT now. Feb 19, 2008

Got a 2000 Silverado with the left tail light not working. I have brake lights, turn signal, reverse lights, just not a running light. I've check the block where all the plugs connect, and it doesn't seem to have power to the running light prong in the block. Could it be fuses or a bad wire? I'm at a loss because I can't seem to find anything.
