IMS bearing issues, bore scoring and ugly headlights. This isnt the best Porsche but its still a Porsche so its still a very good car when you address the issues. It has a better body shape than modern 911s too.Jan 09, 2023

I believe this car is of high risk because of the mileage. You would need to be a Porsche mechanic in order to purchase this vehicle.

I honestly had a once a lifetime experience buying this car. Can’t ever say other car buyers on here will be so lucky. Not only is the car mechanically perfect but the buyer was trust worthy and took care of the car well. I was able to drive the car home from California to South Florida without a single issue. Power, Prestige and Precision ! Just drive an AWD Cabriolet n u too will be hooked. Oh, n leave the tiptronic at the dealership, otherwise maybe you should be looking at a Prius. This Porsche is my daily driver and has never been on the track. It doesn't require a lot of maintenance but I have had to repair a few of the gadgets. This is most likely because of the age of the vehicle. I upgraded the stereo to a Kenwood touchscreen navigation unit. The exterior is purple (vesuvio metallic) and the interior is black. I have the hard top which only stays on during the winter as driving with the top down is so much fun! This 911 drives like a dream! When I want to accelerate I push down on the gas pedal. It doesn't hesitate in the least almost as if it wants to go faster! I very rarely drive over the speed limit posted but do enjoy getting from 0 to the speed limit as quickly as I want to. The handling is perfect for a car this size and the brakes are heavy enough to assist as needed. I have owned several sports cars and this one has been my favorite in every single way. Mar 30, 2014

Always wanted a 911 and this automobile exceeds my hopes and dreams! Water cooling has made them easier to maintain along with hydraulic lifters eliminating the constant valve adjustments for previous models. Owned one MBZ in the past and I am equally pleased with the beautiful way things are finished and well thought out. Power band, via double overhead cams with infinitely variable cam timing, is basically from idle to it's 7,200 RPM red line. Take it for a spin around the block and a bad mood isn't even a memory afterwards. Probably will add K&N cold air intake which is supposed to make it sound even better! Back seat is small but it is a sports car so it is amazing to even have a back seat. Can hardly wait to run Hwy 1 from Morro Bay to Monterey, my favorite road! Have only owned her for a couple of months so ratings are premature however I plan on doing all repair and maintenance myself so hopefully won't be out of control. Couple of years should help with overall views and I am looking forward to them!Dec 16, 2012

The car performs in every aspect it was built for and advertised. Handling, turns, acceleration, power, comfort, visibility and shifting all give the driver ... me in this case all the tools to enjoy the ride, speed and maneuverability. You can't ask for more at the price point, Nov 06, 2012

I love to drive this car! When it is nice out and the top is down there is no better car to see the scenic vistas of a nice drive wherever you go. The sound of the motor is nice and not too loud and the car rides nice and smooth. It is nice to drive along the ocean or up in the mountains and even in the city. You can see everything nice with the top down. You can't beat a convertible Porsche for a great summer car! Aug 07, 2012

I did not dislike anything about this car other than the maintenance costs. The car is more reliable than most and it gets great gas mileage, which about 20 to 25 in the city and about 30 to 35 mpg on highway depending on traffic conditions and speed.Feb 26, 2012

I like that everyone likes it, what I dont like is that everyone wants it..lol. The cost to maintain is expected for what the car is so I dont find it too bad. Some people complain about the water-cooled engines that came out in 1998, and since it was a new engine this car may have had problems. This car (mine at over 111,000 miles now) is still running great, shifting well, and looks just as hot as any of the newer models. We havent had engine problems (yet) and the car has been tot he same dealer since it was born and it's history is squeaky, so I dont think it ever had any engine problems, despite the hoopla about the engines in these. It gets a lot of reaction (and it's not just because I'm a girl). I hear people walk by the house when it's parked out front and comment on it all the time, or when I'm in a coffee shop and people stop to check it out outside.
The backseats really are tiny. I have a picture on here where my brother is in the backdseat - he's not much taller than me (I'm 5'2") and he looks like a against back there (and he barely fits - only because he's sitting behind me and my seat is up). When my husband drives the car the front seat is back so far there is no leg room for a backseat passenger on the driver's side.
Trunk space is ok - it's enough to fit a 12-pack of toilet paper or two cases of beer with a little room to spare. It could also potentially fit a small rollerbag or a gym duffel bag. Any of these things will fit with a little room to spare on top (maybe 12 inches). Larger suitcases will not fit. If you must, you can put a larger suitcase in the backseat with the top down.

Pure enjoyment is as simple as I can put it. Since I was a little kid I was a fan of most exotics but I have always wanted a Porsche 911. The toughest thing was to decide if I wanted air cooled or water cooled. Well you can see my mind was made up.May 28, 2010

Switch from a Audi TT, glad I did that cos this is one of the best sports car in the planet. I tested it with 170mph+ (280km+) and still feel very stable. Nothing much mods did on the car, only rims & tires, performance chips and bars.Dec 30, 2009

The porsche 911 is a wonderful car, able to blend practicality and performance into one user-friendlt package. The steering is unbelievably communicative and the suspension provides ample feedback without sacrificing confort. The flat six, while docile around town, revs up without hesitation or jerkiness. Hi, um, I'm in the market for a 911 Carrera 996, and I was concerned about a couple of points. One is the lifespan of the car, and of the steptronic automatic transmission. In addition, where to get the servicing done, if I can get it done at say a VW dealer? Also, the cost of keeping it up seems low, but around here in the East everything is like a bit more than I expected. 260 dollars plus tax for an oil change, as well as filter change every 15k miles, and a 1450 dollars plus tax for the 60,000 mile service. I was wondering is it just the tires, the oil change, and the 60k service the only things you need to do to the car to keep it running? And are brake rotors and brake pads covered in the services? Isn't there a 30,000 mile, and 90,000 mile one too? Also, the ones I've been looking at have about 88,000 miles to 107,000 miles on the clock, like I asked before, how much longer can they go without problems? Also, how do you know if the Carrera 2's have the PSM or not? And if not, how would the car handle in the dry as well as the rain? Thank you guys so much for your help.
