Is the hood interchangeable between 99 Chevy Prizm and 99 Toyota Corolla?
I want to replace my hood but I can't find a chevy prizm hood at any junkyards, would just replacing it with a corolla one of the same year work?

I would recommend this car for any one, who wants a efficient car with minimal problems and run's forever. I think the major thing I had to do was replace the belt tightener pulley and the door handles absolutely suck I wish they offered handles that were not plastic. I don't care much for the car it has giving me a lot of head aches but I for to say this it keeps on ggoing it cost a lot to keep it going the only reason I still have it o refuse yo sell a lemon.Jul 09, 2014

This is a Toyota Corolla by another name. You get Toyota reliability at half the price when you buy used since the Chevrolet brand don't hold it's value as Toyota does. It's comfortable, enought space for 4 adults. Maintenance is cheap and parts are easy to find anywhere.Aug 13, 2011

Terrible acceleration; decent braking; decent handling. Reliable, but build quality is terrible! Appearance is mediocre. Cost of owndership is low. This car is definitely not "fun" to drive. If you want your Grandma's car, drive this. If you want a fun youthful car STAY AWAY!!!Jul 01, 2011

I like my little prism but it isn't too powerful or cool. It has decent power for a small four-banger with 1.8 lt displacement and 125,000 on it though. I like her because she is good to me, not because she is the sweetest ride on the street. Jul 01, 2009

Gets great gas, many chips on hood from highway use, excellent school car. Has never had work done on it. All that was needed is a oil change every 5000 miles runs great. Better then a corrola for that year. Car has a pretty good stereo for stock. I love this car.Sep 13, 2008

This 1999 Chevy Prizm is by far the best car I've
ever owned. The quality and durability is second to
none. The car currently has 127,000 miles and
starts with no problems whether it is -30 or 100
degrees. The exterior and interior design is
dramatically boring and really has very little style to
it. I guess I had to sacrifice looks for quality in this
case. The gas mileage is about 40 mpg with a mix
of city and highway driving. My car has a 5-speed
manual, so no doubt that helps the number go up.
Performance is okay. I've never needed more power
then the car offers, but it would be nice to have
that little extra power in order to increase the fun
factor. I love how the car handles the dreadful
Wisconsin winters. The car plows through the deep
snow and has never left me with a problem. The
biggest complain is the front leg comfort. Some
more arch support for the legs in the front seats
would be greatly helpful. And it would be nice if
the back seat folded down. Other than that, it is an
excellent basic transportation car that is cheap to

Great gas mileage. Small car, big performance -- handles well, accelerates nicely for a small engine, brakes well. Clean appearance, nothing fancy. Cheap to maintain; no repairs yet at 110,000 mi. Lsi is nice trip, a few bells, not too many whistles; family car. This is my 3rd Prizm in a row -- I'd buy again if they still produced them!Jul 28, 2008

Its a fun car and it couldn't be beat for what I payed for it. While it is still just a Toyota 1.8L engine it is well powered and still holds down about 35 MPG. Owned it for 3 months and haven't had any major mechanical issues yet. I'm not incredibly enthusiastic about the styling but it was built to be an econobox.Jul 10, 2008

The Prizm is basically a Toyota Corolla with a Chevrolet badge on it. The car is refined, and has a smooth and quiet ride. Back seat space is subpar, and acceleration is middling. But the build quality is impressive overall. This is a superb choice for those buyers wanting reliable and comfortable transportation. Those wanting pizazz and performance from a sedan might want to look elsewhere.Mar 19, 2008

This has been a great car for me except for the current A/C problem.
Handles well, gets great gas mileage without being a snobby "hybrid." Biggest complaint is the hauling capabilities are limited. A pass through back-seat to the trunk would be my only suggestion for a major redesign.Jun 28, 2007
