I have owned this car ever since my return from the Philippines. I actually owned an a 1990 Terrano which is the Japanese version of the Pathfinder while I was in Mindanao, Philippines - great car there as well.
I had also bought the 2 door Pathfinder in 1988 - It was a great SUV then as it is now...Dec 20, 2012

I loved this car ... but its time to move on ... I have to say that it was a fantastic SUV... great camping vehicle and family car... went to Burning Man and Death Valley!!! Again... never had a problem!!! Very safe too!May 22, 2012

I bought the car used in '07. It has some things that need to be worked on. I am doing them as I go along. It has power but an exhaust leak. It is a very dependable rig. This is the 2nd one I've owned. It's much nicer than the '95 I had before.
Update Dec '12 - Still have the rig. Had the hood painted since it was peeling the clear coat. Looks good. Runs good. Have had some Mass Airflow Sensor issues. Still trying to get the idle to work right. Other than that, it never leaves me stranded and gets me where I'm going. With the new idle issue, I'm not getting the gas mileage that I did before, but will be working on that soon.Mar 16, 2011

The performance of this SUV is lacking. The 3.3L is under-
powered and it feels as if it works to hard. The gas mileage
isnt to bad however. I get about 19-20mpg around town, and
for a vehicle that has 4x4 that is very good. The build quality
of the vehicle is incredible! Ive never had anything go wrong

Manual tranny, no AC, no 4x4... after realizing traffic commuting, I had wished I paid extra for the automatic... also wished I had 4x4 so I could go 4 wheeling with buds back then..
* Performance - okay...
* Build Quality - pretty good
* Appearance - loved the boxy look of the old Pathfinders
* Cost of Ownership - I don't remember any extraordinary repairs, etc.
* Fun Factor - is this car fun to drive? Yeah, it was okay...

It's 12 yearrs old. I mean what would you expect for it. I would say that it is in a peak condition for being as old as it is, despite a few problems with the radiator and muffler it is pretty fuel efficient and runs well.Jun 23, 2009

Dependable truck, but it can be costly to fix. Rust seems to be an issue but all in all it is solid. Rear suspension has some issues but it is fixable by your average guy with the right tools. This is my second one and if gas wasn;t so stinking expensive I'd upgrade to a newer one.Jul 16, 2008

It's a utility vehicle, with little focus on sport.
Performance is average, build quality is above average.
Maintenance has been minimal, although it consistantly fails emissions testing.
I wouldn't buy another Nissan based on the experience I've had with this one, it has served its purpose but there are other suvs in its class that excell way beyond the Pathfinder.Jun 30, 2008
