This is one of "GM's" blunders, so I installed 4 mud flaps. The paint is peeling around the fenders, gas tank, and trunk lock area-surface rust. I'm not planning on dumping much more into this old heap.She has 81,000 miles on her.Mar 09, 2015

huge trunk space, mad comfortable, and drives like a dream it may look like a grandpa car but this car rules. Easy to replace sterio as well! Completely safe in an accident as well. Gets you from point A to B easy.Feb 16, 2010

Most of you guys out there don't think to much about these kind of cars but they are cheap, great on gas, and reliabile. Cargo is a small issue for those that want tons of space but the trunk space makes up for the loss of room inside the car. I managed to place two or three 20 gallon containers in the trunk alone, but one in the back seat. Gas wise, its a great car for any student, mind you the looks aren't top notch but the gas is what will save you money in the long haul. Parts for this car are somewhat cheap, which also makes it easier for the student, but there are some issues that need to be dealth with before buying this car. Most owners don't change the transmission fluid, which is a issue with this car because of its age, but make sure you do not lose power going up hills that's the first sign of transmission damage / fluid issue. Second biggest thing is the brake lines... I've had to replace my lines because they were rotted out, I paid 120 to get mine replaced at my college so I'm not sure what the price is for another shop. Fuel pump will need to be replaced at around, 65,000 miles or so... mine gave out at 68,000 but cheap fix. Heater core blew on me shortly after I got the car, so I didn't have to replace that but costed around 1,300. And now for the grand finale... the block head. For some reason the manifold will go at around 95,000 - 100,000 miles, I never had this issue yet but I have had a issue where the oil was leaking into the cyclinders.. (cracked cyclinder).. sorta pricey to replace but you could swap another motor into it for a mere 500 bucks. Now I know that list is somewhat chaos but honestly that comes with any older vehicle.Oct 03, 2009

performance is great, the 3.1 v6 is really solid and powerful, 160 under the hood with 185 torques
the cost of ownerships so far is just oil and gas, and it's a great car

I got the car at 45,000 miles on it. The 3100 V6 is economical and quiet, transmission shifts smooth. My greatgrandmother bought the car brand new in 1996. Although sport package should've come with the car anyway, it's a great reliable car to have to go to and from work.Nov 27, 2008

Perfect blend of economy and utility. It can fit a twin-size mattress flat on the floor and can squeeze in 8 adults with seat belts for all. The rear-facing seat in the back is fun and more comfortable than you'd think. Reliability is very good, but things are slowly falling apart after 195,000 miles. My mileage has ranged from 13 to 33, usually around 20 in the city and 28 on the highway. It handles like an aquarium.Apr 02, 2008

Okay,6 months ago the local gas station refueled main gas tanks w/ diesel. My car victim. Insur. Co. Paid/ I kept car. 68K miles,nice car. Post tank cleaning.. ran great until warmed up, them would home in drive only Clanged O2 sensors & EFG. Car started but idle was rough. Research led me to unhook the negative battery cable to reset ECU. Left cable off for 2 days. Now car won't start and has purring/chirping noises coming from the fuse box/glove box area. Please help & thank you in advance. (Pre diesel this car would put a New York cab to shame. Great car.. )

The plastic covers on my HORN buttons have BOTH broken off, what can I do?
On two separate occasions - a year apart - as I exited the vehicle I knocked the wheel slightly and the plastic covers on the horn broke off. This may make my car illegal. I can operate the horn by pressing the metal, but we all know that won't pass an inspection (which i am due for). PLEASE HELP!!!

1996 Oldsmobile Ciera has no interior or exterior lighting
My 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera has no interior or exterior lighting. The car starts and runs fine. There are no headlights, interior lighting or lighting on the dashboard. For what it's worth the radio does not light up but when you turn up the volume you can hear static. I checked all the interior fuses and all of them look good. Could it be one of the circuit breakers or is there another fuse box under the hood up front?
