The 1996 Corvette was the last of the C4s. Although it was the last year of its generation, the '96 car had an optional new 350ci small-block RPO engine that was rated at 330 horsepower - the LT4. The LT4 was available only with the manual.
A Collector's Edition was available in Sebring Silver; it came in Coupe or Convertible form and with the LT1 or LT4 engine. The '96 Grand Sport in blue with white stripes was limited to 1,000 copies and came only with the LT4 engine.
The LT1 is nice, but for real speed, the CE LT4, with the manual gear box and 330+ horses, is the real deal!

The C4 Corvette is still one of the best looking Corvettes. The LT1 motor is very dependable and with simple maintenance will not disappoint. The interior feels like your sitting in a cockpit. Great for road trips or flying around a speedway.Dec 26, 2021

The car is pretty but I think it is overpriced to be as old as it is. I would be afraid that it would start breaking down and cost a fortune to fix.Nov 11, 2021

The ride and handling is by far the best of any C4 I have experienced... far better comfort than a 1984 with Z51 suspension, far better than the base early suspension cars also. This car uses a big n little tire combination so tires can not be rotated front to rear. That can be a treadwear issue.Sep 28, 2013

Everyone should own a vette at least once in your life. I have drove many kinds of cars, I own a Cadillac CTS sport coupe (not a V). It is very fast and agile. With a vette being down closer to the ground it really gives you a sense of speed better. The closest thing you can get to a race car feel. I hope this helps. I know you want to know why I am selling. Cant afford both and the caddy is more practical. Some day when I retire I will get another one.
Have Fun!May 02, 2013

I like everything about this car. It has a unique color, polo green. It is great looking and sporty and fun to drive. You can't beat cruising with the top down. Great value for America's number one sports car! Can't beat it!!Jan 20, 2013

I love the way it handles on the highways and it is alot of fun to drive and its difficult to bring it home and park it after the unique fun driving experience that you have. It brakes wonderfully and will stop on a dime, and I'v never felt safer in any other car over the last almost 40 years of driving numerous types of cars. The shape of this car is so sporty- sophisticated and lean that it is a head-turner anywhere you go and gets numerous compliments. It is very comfortable to ride in and drive as well, it is definitely a highly desirable car and lovable. Jul 16, 2012

This car has been one of the best cars I have owned. It is tough to get in and out of being 6'3", but once you are in it is a magnificent vehicle. The maintenance is minimal - oil and lube, and not much else. The tires are staggered sizes and directional, so there is no rotating.
The dash looks like a fighter jet cockpit. It is much more attractive IMO then the newer Corvette dashes which have become large and more plastic in appearance. Both front seats are 8 way power and are very comfy. all in all compared to it's peers of other sports cars, this car offers much in the way of styling, performance and comfort, as well as reliability which is a bonus that others cannot always boast! I highly recommend this vehicle.Jun 23, 2012

This is a real clean car. People always ask, if the car color is aftermarket. With larger wheels and low profile tires, the car really hugs the turns. Always garaged and adult driven. Only 57500 miles. Car is driven in late spring to early fall only. Great car...great price.Aug 08, 2011

High raves for power / performance / handling. Rants for poor interior quality, high side sills make for difficult entry / exit. Can never say enough good things about the small block 5.7 Chevy LT4 engine! It pulls like a train. Excellent bang for your buck!Oct 05, 2010

This car performs well, very good acceleration and braking and it handles very well on ramps and curves. The dash instrument trim lens rattles when its cold. This car is in very good condition inside and out. The only problem I find is getting in and out of this car its not easy and for a woman with a dress or skirt on forget it. I had a 77 vette before and was much easier to get in and out of. This car gets very goood gas milage highway of approx. 25 mpg, maintenance is a little expensive to have it done like oil changes using mobile 1, but I love driving after sliding down into it. I bought my car with 93K miles on it, and I have put about 10k on it in about four months. I love driving it. The worst part of this car? I want to drive it all the time. I get antsy and anxious when I cannot drive it. It has amazing acceleration, excellent brakes (thank God because I live in DC), and surprising fuel economy.Oct 30, 2009

This car is just pure automotive excellence. It is what everyone on earth should drive; a fairly cheap car that has a good amount of power along with a lightweight cassis, oh and it must be RWD. If you ever get bored with a vette you are not a car guy, just a tool. Sep 09, 2009

this car is fast at 80 mph it will still lay you back in the seat when you give it gas! no real problems with the car it is a very sound american made car. love the look also it is very sleek and definitely a head turner and it gets better gas mileage than the v-6 mustang that i traded for it!Aug 07, 2009

Great Awesome Car! Had a smile on my face everytim I got out of it. Bone crushing acceleration, bladder emptying braking andg-suit requiring handling. I've been a Corvette fan as long as I can remember and it was a dream come true to have not only one, but two!!May 02, 2009

It is a 1996 collector's edition there are a little over 5,000 ever made. It is undefeated on the street. It was great stock and now that i have modded it, it is even better. I don't race anymore on the street cause there is no body that can beat me out there.Apr 13, 2009

LT4 motor - 345hp, 340ft-lb torque . 0-60 4.8 secs, 170 mph IN 1996!!
You can pick up a late C4 for 10k plus now. LT4's are a little more but is still the best bang for buck out there. Brutal acceleration, tons of torque, corners on rails and not a bad interior for a GM car. Doesn't like bumpy road surfaces. Unmistakable V8 sound and road presence. The first 'modern' corvette.Jun 19, 2008

1996 CE LT4 Coupe. LT4 @ 330HP is known to be conservatively rated. Many LT4's come in north of 360HP and will outperform %75 of newer LS1's. Not to be overlooked is, the C4 Corvette when released in 1984 was proclaimed to be; "The best handling production car ever produced" A beautiful car that still receives admiring glances.Sep 18, 2007
i over heated my 96 LT1 corvette and it is making this really bad chirping sound when it idles and when i rev it at all it turns into ticking and when the rpms drop down to idling again it makes the chirp. any idea what it is?
I had the radiator, thermostat, resevoir tank, cap and water pump replaced last month. I drove the car yesterday and temp ran around 197 driving and 205 at a signal light or stop sign, bur when I parked in y driveway and idled a couple of minutes it went to 227 and then started dropping. I shtis normal.
How do I write a review about the dealer since I contacted them directly and not thu CarGuru? I did find the car as a result of CarGuru though. Thanks Tim
