For 1995, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in three trim levels: SE, Laredo, Limited, and a new Orvis Edition.
Drivers enjoy the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee's handsome looks, off-road and snow capability, the strong V8, reliability, and sound system. They are unhappy about the lack of multiple airbags, poor gas mileage, and insufficient cargo room.

I like the space and the way it runs. Really impressed with the gas mileage. I personally like the old style look better . I wish there was more than one outlet for electronics. All in all it is a pretty decent carApr 23, 2015

My 1st Jeep, i bought it with 145k miles for $500 bucks and itg runs absolutely
great! Has most options available but not all work anymore such as the power
windows and the right rear passenger door is stuck closed but the body looks very
nice and was well worth the money. It really pulled through and saved me during
the blizzard of 2013, very fun car.Feb 13, 2013

Have to admit this is my 3rd Jeep and have loved every one of them. I am also buying another used one very soon. I have had some problems with diagnosing some of the mechanical issues with these SUV's, but have gotten twice as many miles out of them as my other non-jeep vehicles.Aug 04, 2012

This Jeep has been a very reliable vehicle. I have always liked the look of these Jeeps. Nothing fancy but looks like it could handle anything in it's path. There are some noises while driving but thats too be expected in a SUV. Acceleration is gradual but feels powerful. Solid Braking. I feel Safe putting my family in this vehicle and driving almost anywhere.Aug 03, 2012

Performance is rather nice Has a 5.2L V8 that does what all V8s do ROAR lol.
The braking isn't the best kinda touchy. Handling on the other hand is quit nice
(if you don't mind the felling of flipping lol)
Build Quality isn't half bad really tough and can take a hell of a beating. Touch
little Jeep.
Appearance is clean very good looking very slick high tech inside tough Jeep
out side.
Cost now that's something im not happy with at all!! Very pricey to drive.
Horrible gas millage and maintenance isn't the best but its 4wd not many are.
The fun of this Jeep do i even have to say? Its a Jeep lol Mar 10, 2012

Pretty affordable AWD drive vehicle. Replacement parts are easy to find at the local yard, since they made so many. HP is low thought the torque us high (5.2 L 318 ci V8). MPG is fair but not great with the all time AWD avg about 15 mpg. But I put my foot into once in while. Fun to drive. Stiff coil springs and I have wide offset wheels so it take corners very well.Nov 16, 2011

A jeep will nickle and dime you to death. You'll get a nosie in the front end and you will never be able to find out what is causing it but think of the fun you will have spending you time and money working on your jeep.Sep 19, 2011

Over all I would have to say that my Jeep has been a great car. It needs alot of work to get it back to factory standards but so far is a great car. I haven't been able to take it four wheeling yet but I'm sure it will do just as it was made to do..GREAT!! May 02, 2011

I bought this car for $240. engine knocking transmission slipping! With 144k miles serviced trans, installed brake pads machined rotors all 4 wheels. Drove for one year and 11k miles. Found 1998 grand cherokee with front end damage, 52k miles paid $500. swapped engine, transmission, transfer case, four doors and rear hatch. Complete interior, carpet, seats, dashboard, headliner, all electronics, computer, wiring, dual air bags, seat belts. I know have 58k miles on a 95/98 jeep and i could not be happier!Feb 23, 2011

Performance - The engine has great power, and will run forever.
Build - An utter beast.
Appearance - Kind of dull, but the blockiness grows on you...
Cost - Mileage is poor, but maintenance is limited.
Fun Factor - Easily handles most anything you can throw at it, just don't expect it to be a baja truck...Nov 05, 2009

This is an all around great vehicle for off road, daily driver, winter beater or anything else. Fast off the line, comfortable inside, there's a reason Jeep is known for building the best SUV's on earth. Downside is that some are known for electrical problems and the paint on mine is terrible.Oct 13, 2009

Great vehicle. What else can I say other than it's a Jeep! The 4.0L is a great motor. The thing has been a dream. I love taking it off road and beating it in the mud, then driving it around town.Sep 07, 2009

Performance wise, the engine needs some tuning & its acceleration leaves some things to be desired. Its handling is great for on or off road as long as i keep it in a straight line. It has over 138,000 miles on it, but runs like a charm, no matter the weather condition.
Build wise, the driver door has a broken lock, so we have to replace it [(i'll change this when it happens) 3 weeks & still nothing], the wheels needs aligning to an extreme, & the metal is sturdy, but could be better. The entire car "rattles" [(lighly using that term) more like a contained earthquake] when you try to slow down from anywhere from 70 mph or higher.
Appearance wise, its the standard Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo dark green color. The inside is almost completely pefect with only 1 stain (i'm ashamed of myself..) It gets really dirty on the outside from off-roading, but it still shines bright enough to blind ppl afterwards.
Cost wise, it might take about $2000 (random guess. i'll chang this too) for adjustments & repairs. Gas mileage is great, but still isnt eco friendly. It needs a way to plug in an iPod, but has a 12 disc CD changer in the back that is completely set up, so I think i could find an adapter for it. I'm gonna make some mods of my own & replace the Stock Air Intake (crappy if you know about it) and replace it with something better like a K&N Air Intake or an Airaid.
Fun wise, I freaking love to just drive in 4WD in gravel & drift through the countryside. :) and 2WD is great as well. The only problem is that you cant get to 4WD-Lo without screwing the transmission over. Thats ok though, because i dont have much use for a low-rev 4WD car.Aug 03, 2009

This Jeep was given to me by my mom who did take very good care of it. The actual jeep itself is very sound but a lot of little things in the electronics have gone bad such as the stereo and the alarm fuse had to be taken out because it would go off for no reason. It runs great but the body is rusting badly because there are not enough drainage holes in lift gate.
Over all I would be happier to trade that in and have my old 1993 Cherokee Country back running right or trade it in for a 5-speed Wrangler with the AMC 4.0 HO, which was in my old jeep. Mainly because the jeep itself is far to fancy for me and it has nearly everything added but a moon or sun roof and a glass lift on the lift gate. The sound system is amazing when the CD player is working properly which has no display screen now, so I cannot get a FM adapter to use on my iPod. But all the technology that is in it now at the time like alarms, best sound system available, were all new technology at the time and it's 14 years old so it's prone to go bad, but still somewhat upsets me.Jul 16, 2009

Enough room for the whole family and not a sport car but high enough to feel secured. Cheap to drive repairs are not expensive. Very luxury. Smooth like a car and handle the road very well. accelaration is ok. Great in the snowJul 05, 2009

Face it, for a 14 year old Jeep, what more do you want. Yea, the 318 ain't real easy on gas, but the power is Great.
Unstopable in snow & mud. Towes a heavy load. Would rather had an optional 2WD-4WD, but full time 4WD was great on wet roads as well, never spun out or chirped tire. Fits into tight places & trailes nice !Its old now, Rotting control arms are my problem. Contemplating repair or bone yard. One of the better vehicles I've had running the hills of Pennsyltucky !! Well, it gets me from point A to point B. It's got some serious gettup, and 4WD is always a plus. I really don't have to worry about anything while I'm driving it...it has a great new speaker system and radio, and enough room for 5 of my friends. The only problems are a loose steering wheel, a faulty sensor in the brake light, and a refridgerant leak. Not too shabby for a 13 year old car.Dec 17, 2008

This car has almost anything besides a decent mileage. The v8 engine is never out of power and even if we have 60-70 centimeters of snow I just drive on. No problems. It's a comfortable ride also with it's leather interior and Infinity Gold soundsystem. Good view over the traffic too. And I do love automatic gearboxes...Sep 11, 2008

Its a decent truck. It has a inline 6 cylinder (4.0 liter) that will tow pretty much tow anything. We have a 17 foot boat and two four wheelers and it pulls both of them well. The quadra trac (all wheel drive) is nice and makes it handle less like an suv. It can get expensive to drive with a city average of 14 mpg and 22 hwy and it takes 6 quarts of oil each oil change. Its a great truck if you have something to tow every once in a while and great in the winter.Sep 01, 2008

It is a great family hauler wiht ultimate offroad cabability only found in a true Jeep. Its quick to accelerate and great hadnling tight corners until u lift it. But after its lifted Nothing outperforms this thing on the trails i can keep up wiht the biggest most expensive offroaders out there and not break a sweat. Aug 21, 2008

i just bought this Jeep and its is awesome it is a 95 Grand Cherokee with the Laredo Off raod package it has a 5.2L 318 V8 in it, it only cost me $200, but it needed two new back windows but we are replacing those. it get slike 20 mpg even in 4WD me and my dad took it ou tin the mud and it dosen't get stuck at all i like it its i just wish it wasn't purple.Aug 01, 2008

The engine is fine. Not a lot of power, but I've read in a couple of places that it's pretty trusty. The Quadra-Trac I "4x4" system is not too reliable with this much age on it. With over 160k I suspect I'll be replacing something soon. I would like it more if mine had the transfer case with a two wheel drive setting.
My upholstery is a kind of gray mouse fur, and the dash is all gray and black plastic. It's an o.k. truck

Acceleration is awesome as well as braking and handling.Hasn't needed much repair since we've owned it just the usual exhaust manifold.Appearance is a little more sleek compared to the Cherokee, inside and out.Gas Mileage is roughly 19 mpg around town and 21 highway.I would recommend this Jeep to anyone compared to the Cherokee. It does a lot better in the snow then the Cherokee due to it being heavier. It's very fun to drive!Jun 29, 2008

My new Grand Cherokee Laredo is grand.
It has the 242 cubic inch Chrysler high-performance straight-6 engine, which puts out 200HP and 300 foot pounds of torque at 3000RPMs. It gets decent gas mileage for an SUV due to this engine and has some power behind it. It is dark green with a silver trim and a dark tan interior. It rides on Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tires and will be getting a new Gibson Grand Cherokee exhaust system, since the old one was falling out.Jun 25, 2008

other than the fact the limited is really nice and a v8 with all the time 4 wheel drive...it really sucks. i have had 3 jeeps and all i have to say is if anything goes under the hood get rid of it cuz u'll end up replacin everything within a yr if u don't.May 29, 2008

Auto climate control is the best feature. Never have to worry about turning on the heat or ac, car takes care of it automatically. Auto lights are nice too, you never forget to turn them off or on. May 19, 2008

This was a fun first car for me. It had a lot of power for being that size, it had the Chrysler 318 5.2l V8 in it and all wheel drive. It was nice how i could floor it an not spin the tires off. Just to small for me. Mar 13, 2008

With its V8, 5.2L engine, this Jeep still has enough power to do what 4x4's are built to do. It handles snow and ice covered roads without skidding due to its all-terrain tires and has enough force to compete with the newer Jeeps and other SUV's.Dec 31, 2007

bought this car because I needed a good car for the snow. Frankly, I should have simply bought an audi. The build quality was terrible, handles like a mack truck, bad gas mileage - overall not much good to say about it.
Over the 3 years that I bought it, the air conditioner went, an axle bearing went as well as numerous other annoying problems.
While not a huge investment, I think I bought it for $28k or so, it just was not the right car for the situation. Frankly the next car I bought - an audi s4 had far more to offer (better handling in the snow, better gas mileage, far better reliability and generally just a hoot to drive.
So, unless you really need an suv (in which case I'd recommend a toyota 4runner) get an All wheel drive audi - far more fun....Sep 29, 2006
Dnt seem to have vacuum leaks. I am lost on what else to do. I have re placed the egr but when I undo the hose to the manifold it will idol but it idols really high. Any suggestions?
when i turn the key all dash lights and everything work ,, but there is no power going to the starter to turn it, it doesnt even click like a low battery or anything, i charge the battery, and even bought a new starter but still no power to the starter
If I do not drive my Jeep every day the battery drains and has to be recharged. In the process of changing the alternator and would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a fix for it before I invest a lot of money into it.
Looking to do a rough country 4 inch lift on my 1995 ZJ. I am aware that I will need to swap out my front CV axles for U joints. And the slip yoke eliminator. After reading so many different things, I need help figure out exactly what else, if anything, I need to change. Thanks everybody!!
