Called "innovative, competent and beautifully finished," the 1995 Honda Prelude is a great sports car at a reasonable price. It's not as fast or quick as some of the very expensive cars, but for the price - especially a decade or so later - it can't be beat. Drivers love its acceleration and handling.
There are three engines that Prelude uses and all of them are four-cylinder. The base model has a 2.2-liter 135 hp engine. The Si has a 2.3 liter 160-hp engine, The top of the line, the VTEC, is 2.2-liter with a tremendous 190 hp for those who want to own the road.

I love this car a lot. It is a fun little honda with a peppy 4-cylinder engine. It looks and sounds great also. The 4-cylinder puts out amazing performance along with great fuel economy numbers. Overall I love this car.Aug 19, 2014

Super quick, outstanding handling
very reliable great looking car

The performance is adequate and very fun since it has double wishbone
suspension. The build quality is great, I've had no major problems what so ever.
The Gauges are fantastic. Not too bad to own, the gas mileage is ok at 19-21mpg

I would rate the looks higher, but mine could use a repaint, some body work, and a few things I have in the garage to make it a 5 star. Great on gas even after lots of mods are done to it. Nov 09, 2011

Performance: VTEC engine is lovely, not as powerfull or fast as I was expecting, gearbox is so nice to use, brakes are awfull, handles Ok though, maybe a bit too much lean in the bends but no real issue.
Build Quality: Standard parts very good, the silly stuck on bits not so great.
Appearance: Standard car looks good, this model was a lovely colour and didn't look as bad as the picture suggests. You wouldn't want to look at it every morning though, it is a bit much.
Cost of Ownership: Low speed is quite good MPG, when you are using the VTEC it is a bit thirsty, but what do you expect at 6k revs plus.
Fun Factor: Is good fun to drive, but you wouldn't want to drive it everyday.Oct 11, 2010

I love everything about this car! This was my first car and its got to be my favorite honda model ever! Honda made a beast car and for me to have had one was an honor. I hope to get another one or fix this one.

Performance-excelent for a 4 banger
Quality- great hondas are great but gotta watch for rust
Apperance- aggresive
Cost of Ownership, Not bad at all, actuallly great. Go honda for mpg

Nice looking car, drives excellent. Drove long trip to Idaho and loved it. Awesome dashboard, nice body. Could use some more power, but generally a good car! Fun to drive and all the button are in the right places. I would own again.Nov 10, 2009

Performance wise this car is base, everything completely
stock, drives like a stock, no intake, stock suspension, yet
very stiff. Common wheel well rust in back tire wells. Very
clean body, white frost paint, little rust here and there. Gets
maybe 300-350 on a full tank depending on how it drives.
Manual so gas mileage varies from user to user XD. Cheap to
maintain, honda, nuff said lolz. EXTREMELY fun, small car,
hugs corners with ease. replaced brake master cylinder, bled

Zippy acceleration, good speed, excellent handling and braking, solid build, unique front dash, overall great, one minus mediocre gas mileage about 22mpg, average cost to own, fun to drive, carved through blue ridge mountains and the motorcylcle behind me was trying, but coundn't keep up!Jun 11, 2009

Performance, pulls well off the line, close ratio gearbox gives it good acceleration, very stable under braking and cornering at speed. Not the faster car ever built but certainly puts smile on your face.
Build quality, Honda nuff said really. So long as its serviced regularly it will just go on and on.
Appearance, I think she's just gorgeous, but look at the photo and make up your own minds
Cost of ownership, tax is fairly cheap, get about 26 mpg and insurance group 13
Fun Factor, best thing about this cars is how much fun it is to drive, however trying to get people in it can also be a bit of a laugh, long story short, it has four seats two of which are for show.Nov 27, 2008

Understated, underrated bargain. £20k when new, can be picked up for less than £1k these days. 4WS, power steering, EL dials, ABS, Cruise Control, full electrics with performance that still knocks spots off most cars.
Best fun you can have with a n/a engine. Parts are pricey but ebay and forums are your friend.Nov 17, 2008

I absolutely adored this car for the 5 months I had it. Solid 5 speed, powerful 190 horse power 2.2 liter I-4 VTEC. Hauled ass from 5200 to 7400 RPM. Very fun to drive, handled great right up to when I hit a curb in rain and wrecked it :( Had a little bit of maintenance work to do, but still loved this car to death. Oct 04, 2008

Great car, fast for its good fuel economy and small engine, never had any problems that couldn't be prevented.
Fun to handle, easy to work on.
Get one.

Smooth, fast and very reliable. Hit a deer at about 40mph (by the timed I'd slowed down) which ruined it. I'd have one again, but I'd have to go for the V-TECJul 09, 2008

2.0i 16v engine produces roughly 135BHP, which means its quick, not as quick as the Vtec mind, good top end. Lovely to look at, espeacially in white, though I'm biased.Its a honda which means its reliable and sounds Good too. Very unique interior, with a panoramic digital display dashboard, plenty of room up front, wish the same could be said for the back, but hey its my car so thats the last place I'll be.Apr 12, 2008

In a straight line this car performs above average with a 0-60 in just over 7 seconds. However, throw it into a windy road and you are going to beak out into a big ol' smile. Limited rear seating space, but that won't be your concern while you're accelerating around corners most cars need to slow for.Apr 04, 2008

My prelude into the world of Preludes. This car was awesome. It was the Si version which had a 2.3L 4 cylinder which was decent for the car. It was by no means a rocketship, but it was, like I said with my current Prelude, respectably quick. Handling was excellent, unmatched by pretty much any car. 25-28MPG, very consistent. It did use a little oil, not as much as the VTEC Lude do to this one not revving out to 8 grand.Feb 29, 2008

Stuck in first gear!
i have a 95 honda prelude 3rd gen, last 2 years everything has been replaced except the motor no issue. I just had the timing belt and water pump replaced, on the way home something happened cant figure it out, i cant get past 1st gear highest mph i can go is 20 if you press pedal down just revs really high and does nothing, iv taken back and had them look at timing belt it was done correctly nothing wrong there. Cant figure it out, motor is a 2.2liter sohc non vtec automatic transmission.

how do i adjust/tighten the idle?
Where is the idle located? How do I tighten it. When I am parked sometimes my car stalls because the idle is at 500. I took it to a mechanic and he lowered it from 1000rpms to 500. Help.
