Rare, Unusual, Sporty, pop up lights!, Coupe. Turbo, boy racer beater, fun, Safe, Cheap to Own and Run, Leather Interior, All of the above is what I love about my car. It is the kind of car you hardly ever see now and most people dont know what it is when they do see it! It puts a big smile on my face whenever I am driving it even on long trips or short journeys.Sep 11, 2008

This car is quirky! Looks quirky too! It's a bit of a wallowy drive, but handles quite well, and can overtake in 5th! Insurance group is high, and parts can be a bit dear, but the best car I have ever owned! I don't know what it is about this car but I just feel like I'm "home" when I get in it.Aug 01, 2008

Ah the first car!!
The one you'll remeber forever. From a very early age I have always been into cars. I am a child of the eighties and in this car the styling cues from that decade are there. My favourite parts were the pop up lights and wedge shape a taste seen again in my later cars.
A friend of mine had a volvo 440 turbo at the time and he go me into them. The performance and torque from the engine were a breath of fresh air compared to anything I had driven at the time. With most people my age driving corsa's and fiesta's they could be dispatched with ease. They came fully loaded, specification included leather, electric sunroof, headed seats and on board computer with mileage left on current level of fuel (assumed these days but for then wow)
The bad points were in respect of build quality all 480's leaked in. They should have been sold with a fishing permit. It also developed a problem with the pop up lights where one was stuck down.
They do say Volvo's are built like tanks and I proved it by flipping on a wet and rainy night (see photo).I walked aay unhurt and I will always be thankfull to Volvo's safety philosophy.
A great car and I recently bought another to relive some memories. Jul 31, 2008

As the GT really, slightly slower, not in such good nick (one of the pop ups was lazy!!) i loved this car, especially the colour, but it wasnt so fast as the GT, and lesser options, but still nippy and quirky!Jan 19, 2008

Mine has full hand printed leather interior (GT spec), electrical/digital dial pod, wacky cheese wedge style shape, pop up headlights, 15" GT spec alloys, great handling-i can throw this thing anywhere and come out the other side in one piece, nippy acceleration and fun to drive. Overall I hope I will always have my GT.Jan 19, 2008
