horn & cruise do not work
my horn and cruise control do not work . it does not have air bags. i do not see a clock spring. the cruise does not turn on but the fuss is good.

The 1994 Ford Explorer continued to enjoy tremendous popularity in the SUV market. No big changes were initiated for this model year; the '94 Ford Explorer was offered in the same trim lines and bodystyles as the previous year. Buyers had a choice among the Sport, XL, XLT, and Eddie Bauer trims, as well as the luxurious Limited edition, available only as a four-door, four-wheel drive vehicle (other trims came in a choice of two-door and four-door versions, and offered both 4WD and rear-wheel drive options).
Roomy interiors and cargo capacity, as well as the rugged reliability for off-road adventures, were huge selling points for drivers attracted to the new sport-utility vehicle market. The 1994 Explorer promised reliable, safe family transportation, as well as the toughness for which Ford's lines of trucks had earned a well-deserved reputation.
The '94 Explorer also offered a decent amount of power under the hood: its 160-horsepower V-6 engine yielded quick acceleration and strong towing power. When it came to gas mileage, though, the Explorer was less impressive, with estimates ranging from 15 to 18 mpg city, 20 to 22 mpg highway, depending on model.

For a small vehicle it handles great off-road and going into the mountains. It is good at taking corners and going high speeds quickly. The brakes work exceptionally well. It's a fun little vehicle to drive and I would recommend this car to someone who likes driving off-road.Aug 02, 2014

She was a good ride - so/so on gas - but big in comfort. Rode nice and was reliable until the tranny died 3 DANG TIMES - and the final time was it - once I got it road ready, I sold it and never looked back.Apr 24, 2013

The exploer I had was a basic model with a 5 speed transmition. It stopped pretty good and had sufficient power it being a manual it seemed better than my cousin automatic. Rhe four wheel drive had to use monthly or the auto lock outs would stick.Nov 14, 2011

I like it, my off road vehicle. 4 wheel drive is good for snow too. Ample power to get around in the city. Unfortunately it gets the same mileage as a 5.0 mustang. Not the vehicle you want to drive to and from work everywhere in the summertime when the fuel prices spike up.
Great for camping trips and the winter. Alright MPG on long roadtrips makes it bearable. Ice cold A/C too.
Transmissions seem to go every 50-100,000 km too. Best to make sure the fluid is changed every few oil changes and add an extra trans cooler as well.Sep 03, 2011

This SUV is a fun drive with a five speed manual tranny. Handles good even when lifted. tight turning radius. Built well and looks beafy, fairly cheap to drive and repair. Gas mileage could have been better but with a 4L V6 and lifted sitting on over sized tires you cant be too picky. Sep 04, 2010

It can take off pretty fast and can beat a bunch of cars out there. it will turn you
head when im behind you and i stomp it.
Its only had minor repairs. Brakes,shocks,4WD Hubs,Head Lamp Bezel.
Its paint is as clean as it will get. its not brand new but it still shines like new.
GAS HOG all day but its upkeep is low.

This explorer has no acceleation power but has a very stong engine. I put new brakes on it and spark plugs that sort of thing. This car pops when releasing the brake pedal. I have gotten into many recks with it so i bought a new front end on it and put it all on. The interior pretty nice but could always use some tlc. Gas mileage i get about 14 in town and 16 on high way. This car is easy to work on the really fun to mess around in.Apr 22, 2010

Performance - slow acceleration, but the handling and the braking are top notch

I absolutely love my 94 Ford Explorer. It's 16 years old and the only thing, other than routine maintenance, that I have had to do to it was to replace the cheesy fiber lower intake manifold gasket, as it was leaking coolant. Do yourself a favor and use the metal one that Ford now offers. Although the 1st generation Explorer's have all the aerodynamics of a shoebox, Ford did a great job of blending style and function, with this rugged little utilitarian vehicle. It gets around in the snow like nobody's business, and has towed a good many sub compacts (and a few full sized 4X4s) out of assorted snowbanks. I was leery about "pushbutton" 4 wheel drive (never had one before), but I'm a fan now. She starts to spin a little, just push the button, 4X4 engages and off you go. She's not once left me sit. Take care of it, and it'll take care of you. I do, however, wish that the engine had a bit more power, but that's the only thing that I'd change about this well built, rugged and durable piece of equipment.

It was Dad's idea in the first place ;). HE said it runs much smoother than the 2000 F-150 truck. We got it at a reasonable price, and it haven't let me down at all, especially on long-distance travel. For the gas mileage, for example, it took 1/4 of the gas with the distance between Yorkton and Saskatoon. Overall, I don't think I want to let it go, but if the SUV ever fall apart, yes, I could get it "OVERHAULED".Sep 17, 2009

Total garbage. Of course, that was it's main purpose. Bought the car for a grand, strictly for driving on the beach and in the mud. It refused to pass inspection, shook like an epileptic once you hit 60mph, and was permanently out of alignment. Sold it to a junkyard a few weeks ago.Jan 18, 2009

A good truck for it's time. Lacks a little in power with the 4.0, but it gets you where you need to go. Can tow up to 5,000 pounds... so I've heard. Rides very smooth over rough terrain as well.
The limited model is the best trim level by far! Incredible stereo system for being stock! Very comfortable seats... as far as the driver's seat anyway.

Ford rocks. The interior is cloth, I would prefer leather, however the cloth is nice for my dog, for the backseat, he likes to go back and forth to the rolled down windows. Automatic windows, great handling, I only have had to use my 4 wheel drive twice this season and it was going up the canyons. It was a fun car, limited edition, and it had dual center of gravities, just depended how you sat in it. If you sit in it right, you'll feel the real center of gravity. Never rolled it, 4 wheel slides, off roading, 4x4, i forced the thing to jump back and forth from offroad truck to ricer all the time, just too bad it didn't have any pick up to go with it.Jan 29, 2008

This car has shown that a car can only get better with age, as it never struggles with reaching the 6000rpm mark. I consistently out accelerate other cars, all the while the brakes and suspension handle remarkably at high speeds, considering this is a SUV after all. The outside of the car is still beautiful, even with all of the scrapes and dents from almost 13 years on the road. What's even more remarkable is that the thing had gone through one wreck, that I know of ( it was bought used). With simple upkeep it has gone relatively unscathed. The engine/transmission combo is superb, especially for a V6/automatic. This fact only magnifies the incredible engineering that Ford put into it. First off sorry if this question posts 2x times, I tried to post it earlier but I didnt see it listed so am trying again. ==================================================================== My transmission fluid is leaking into my engine/engine oil. There is not exterior leak. I was told its probably coming from the seal between the transmission and engine. My questions are: Does that sound likely? What is the name of the seal between the transmission and engine? How hard is it to replace ~ can i do it with basic tools and a space to work in? If not any idea of the cost to have it done? 94 explorer wont move in any gear while running
I just picked up a 94 ford explorer 4.0 4wd with the a4ld transmission with intentions to repair or replace transmission I was told by previous owner that it was stuck in drive and still driven then one day just would move anymore now it has no forward or reverse gears Im also sure the parking pawl is broken because I can push the car in park.. I just replaced torque converter but still same issue Imma kind of in a pickle on this one I would really like to get this explorer on the road again if anyone has any tips on what I should inspect or replace next would be awesome and helpful
