The 1993 Camry underwent few changes, since it had been completely redesigned the year before. The gearbox on the manual transmission received a few tweaks to make it run better, and the body trim on the DX models was made to match the exterior of the car. The Camry got about 20-30 miles per gallon for fuel economy, depending on the engine.
The 1993 Toyota Camry came in DX, SE, LE, and XLE trim levels, with the DX as the introductory level, the SE the sporty model, the LE the midrange level, the the XLE the high-end version. The 1993 Toyota Camry came standard with a four-cylinder, 2.2-liter, 130-horsepower engine or an optional 3.0-liter, 185-horsepower V6.
Drivers speak highly of the longevity and low maintenance required by 1993 Toyota Camrys, and many are still on the road.

this car had 134K on it when we got it. It has been through 2 college students and has 250K on it now. I wish I had bought it new, i look for these cars now with hopes of getting another one for my youngest. These cars are the best thing on the road dollar for dollar, mile for mile.Oct 17, 2012

This was a great car for a while, but the more I drove it, the worse gas mileage would get, nd the more problems I would have with it. I did all regular maintenance on it on time, and I didnt drive it very often. But when one thing went wrong, it was an avalanche of things to follow. Aug 27, 2012

Terrible handling, acceleration and braking, reasonable build quality but sure showing her age! Pretty plain looking and not a very "fun" car, BUT, cheap to buy and service - gas mileage terrible though considering it is only a small car with such poor performance!Apr 13, 2012

V6 Manual that is extremely fun to drive.
Has most of the options, a kick-butt sound system, and a sunroof.
Very quick off the go.
You can't beat the price and the mpg.
This car rocks, i reccomend it to any manual lovers.Nov 14, 2011

Fantastically reliable, safe and somewhat quick. Features a 2.3 DOHC engine. Build quality is nice too. Somewhat comfortable seats. 133,000 miles of pure abuse and still going strong! Also, being a mid-90s Camry, its pretty minimal, so there's not too many goodies. Even in the XLE. Its also ugly, very ugly. And bland. ECT button makes me feel like 007 and green and black themed instruments feel well connected and sharp. Good car as its only had the oil filter and radiator replaced, and that's with abuse that you wouldn't even believe.

In it's day it was a medium sized commute car, but now it's an economy car compared to the newer Camrys. Also have a 2000 Camry XE and wife has a 2006 LE which make the 1993 looks ultra simple to maintain and service. Book may say it's not worth anything, but on-the-street pricing is between $2500-$2600 in my area on auto sales sites whether dealer or private sale.Oct 11, 2011

This car is the definition of 'everyday use'.. Its Ruggedness, Flexibility, and Fuel
efficiency is to die for. It can be trusted to take you anywhere, under any weather
and under any condition. And maintenance cost is really really cheap.Sep 22, 2011

It's a Toyota, so you can't go wrong. It doesn't die. I've mistreated it for a while, and it's forgiven me so far. Electric windows, mirrors, and seats, sensors in the door locks, air conditioning, and a very good original sound system.Feb 01, 2011

Car is made to be driven every day for years on end, performance is solid, breaks are great and handles like any 4 door family sedan should. This is not a fun but smart car to drive. This is one of the most dependable cars made, guaranteed to last well over 200,000 miles. now cheap to buy and easy to find still over 30 miles to the gallon highway around 23 miles city. This car is pretty good for just a commuter car. Just to get from point a to point b. It gets fair gas mileage if you drive it right. Has a little bit of get up and go when you need it. It looks okay, but definitely not sporty in any way. The car handles like a larger car, mostly because it sits high off the ground.Oct 27, 2009

This was a very reliable car that got great gas mileage but could bore a sloth. It was just boring up and down. id recommend it to some one who doesnt care what they drive as long as it will start up and drive every time they get in it. this is th car for them. Not for anyone looking for something inspiringApr 12, 2009

She's got over 250,000 miles on her, and she's still running strong. Maybe not the prettiest, but her mileage is good and she runs well. She gets me from A to B. Tan, but with a black front bumper and right fender. I say she's a pirate because she looks like she's got an eye patch.Feb 02, 2009

Great first car, won't own another Camry until I retire. Got rid of it with 200k miles and it still had life left, typical problems with 10+ year old cars. Car was predictable, not fun to drive, underpowered, got great gass mileage, needed more fun features, but I couldnt be too picky for my first car!Nov 08, 2008

This was my first car, and that will always have a spot in my heart for it.
Build Quality:
The front struts gave out, the gas latch didnt work, the trunk needs to be manually opened, the battery got disconnected a lot, it once started leaking break fluid, if you fill it up past 3/4 of a tank it starts to leak, and the muffler is giving out. Its still my favorite car to drive. I got a new car, and left it outside for most the winter. When i tried to turn it on in the summer, it started right up. No sputtering or complaining, roaring like a lion. At over 250k miles, and still going strong, i know ill be enjoying this car for a long time.
Performance:
It handles amazingly, with no power steering or brakes I could really have complete control over it. Winter was no problem, as the control it had in slush was increadable. It had amazing pickup for a middle class car.
Apperance:
It was comfortable for me, being 6'3'', and had great feel to it. After driving a Ford F150, Saturn Vue, and a Buick Regal, I still prefer this car. I had cloth interior, which was comfortable in any weather, unlike leather. The outside looked pretty bad, due to 15 years of scratches and dings, but the general body of the car wasnt too bad. Its no fararri, but its not unsightly.
Cost of Ownership:
I bought it for 500$, and i feel like ive gotten my money's worth. Where other cars have failed me, this car has never left me stranded. It gets good milage, though i never tracked it. Nothing unusual about the maintenance.
Fun Factor:
Oh yes, i love driving it. Its small and meneuver in traffic. It has amazing pickup, and can get to high speed very quickly. It was so much fun to drive. Oct 30, 2008

Handles well, runs great, still not burning oil or leaking any where, still gets good gas mileage, now that the original struts and springs have been replace it rides really smooth, goes good in the snow (haven't had her stuck yet.), enough room for us and the dog and no one is crowded. It's just good reliable transportation. Radio quit working, but still plays CD's. Old version A/C is weak. Been in several wrecks, when Linda was driving it (none were really her fault. She was sitting still for most of them). Sunroof just developed issues. Mechanically still sound (knocking on wood). 175,000 miles ...and counting.Jun 22, 2008

Not bad looking for a '93... mine had a sunroof, leather interior (that was ripped to shreds, though), K&N intake and Boston Acoustic speakers. I was a clown and had a subwoofer sliding around in the trunk without any covers on it... so it sounded good for about a day before it slid around and ripped itself. Jun 09, 2008

this is a 1993 camry XLE V6. it is the top of the line camry made in 93. most camrys came with 4 cylinders but this one has the 3.0 V6 , the same motor thats in the Lexus. with the camrys there are three trim packages,, they are CE,LE,and XLE. CE is the base model, LE is limited edition, and XLE is Xtra limited Edition. The 3.0 in this car is very power also the car has a button next to the shift lever that you can press for extra power. the interior is very luxurious, this model comes with wood grain accents on the dash, leather seats, power seats and windows, and also has a CD player and an air conditioner. this vehicle also has a very good ride quality. and the 15 inch alloy wheels excintuate the cars best qualities. This was actually a second choice and it was a little more than what I wanted
to spend, but I'm so glad that I bought this camry over a Honda Civic.
I bought this car in 2000 with 137,000 miles on it and I paid a little over
$8,000. I finally drove the car to the ground in the winter of 2006 with
314,000 miles on it. The transmission finally went out on it.
The things that I had to fix on it was a muffler, and I had to replace the
radiator, and put a new timing belt, and put new struts it, and this was all I
had to do during the time that I owned the car.Apr 20, 2008

I bought this car it rear-ended another vehicle. The owner didn't want to pay to have it fixed so I bought it cheap. A few parts from the salvage yard and a new paint job made this car look like new. The car was loaded, it was fantastic inside and out. The interior was great quality, easy to clean and it still looked new on the day I sold it. The car had about 150K miles on it when I sold it and it would move. The engine had a lot of pep, it was great around town. It was a great cruiser also, it was heavier than the new cars are and it was longer, more weight made this car handle the road like a dream.
I sold the car because it was getting high mileage and I thought a new car would be better. I wish I had never sold it and just bought a new engine for it when that one crapped out. I loved this car, it was in great shape and drove better than my new one does.Dec 17, 2007

if your radio does not work, and the dome light does not work and the red doors lights dont come on, then check the dome light fuse under the hood near the battery, the radio will not work at all if the dome light fuse is blown or has been removed. the funny thing is of course the fuse is only marked dome .not dome/radio. of course there is also a radio fuse inside the cabin fuse box, behind the coin drawer, menokSep 30, 2006
My Car Turns off while driving then i wait 10 minutes and it turns on and drives then it turns off again.. it doesnt turn off when parked only when i put it into gear and drive then it turns off. the closest mechanic wants to charge me 100$ JUST TO Look at it. i dont know what the problem is or neither do i know how to fix it

On my 93 Camry 4 banger, the engine has serious misfire at idle. In drive the miss gets worse. Move the tach from idle to 700 rpm the miss is gone. I can still feel a misfire but very little. As I drive I can feel the engine misfire. I disconnected the TPS and misfire is gone, nice smooth idle. I have to manually shift the tranny to accelerate. I replaced the TPS and the misfire is back. I've inspected the spark plugs, ohmed the plug wires, replaced the rotor, checked the cap and all is in good shape.
