The key change for the Saturn S-Series in 1993 came from the introduction of the wagon and an extra coupe. This bumped the trim total up to 7, including the SC1 and SC2 coupes, the SW1 and SW2 wagons, and the SL, SL1, and SL2 sedans. Other changes included standard driver side airbag, new colors, and re-vamped bumpers.
Trunk space comes out to 10.9 cubic feet in the coupes, 11.9 in the sedans, and 28.8 in the wagons with the backseat upright (56 when you fold it down). In addition, all trims will generally get you 27 mpg city/37 mpg highway in manual and 25 mpg city/35 mpg highway in automatic. The SC1, SW1, SL, and SL1 use a 1.9 L, 85 hp I4 engine while the SC2, SW2, and SL2 use the stronger 124 hp version. Wagons and sedans seat 5 while coupes seat 4. Air conditioning comes as an option in all trims.
Overall, consumers appreciate the solid performance that the 1993 S-Series delivers at a reasonable price. However, they do have some issues with inefficient oil consumption, road noise, handling, and the tight fit in the interior for larger passengers. The 1993 Saturn S-Series made some positive changes by diversifying its trims. Drivers who can live without the most modern technology will get what they pay for with this solid compact.

runs forever and has some issues. its small, but its a coupe. however for a daily car its okay. and for emergency it saves gas. afforable car and not too costly on repairs. college student kinda car. not fast or sporty.Dec 12, 2013

Standard transmission with low power from small 4 cyl. engine. 4 wheel Disk brakes was handy. Interior was becoming very outdated and somewhat uncomfortable. Exterior was made out of plastic. Definitely fun to drive even with the lack of power.Aug 20, 2012

This Saturn SL2 can be a fun car to drive. With a 1.9L engine under the hood its not the fastest on the block but it still has some get up and go. It can come with a 5 speed Transmission for those of us who like to shift at our own pace. The exterior styling of this car more allows for blending in rather than standing out and it is a little smaller than a 4 door civic.Oct 08, 2010

This car wasa rebuilt salvage that i got form my sister when she moved so i could
have a ride to and from work and not have to rely on anyone else... so therefore it

freaking awesome!!! its really fun to drive especially since it a
stick shift. It has fast acceleration, which makes you feel like
your in a race car. Its so easy to maintain and all. one down

It's been stalling and the doors leak. The fuel filter has probably never been replaced. Acceleration will give me rubber in 2nd gear. Have seen others with spoilers and Glad the front and rear facias are finished. Cost on mileage sure isn't filling up for $94.Jun 16, 2009

It's a nice 4 cylinder get around car. I personally don't recommend mine for extended driving, but as a commuter car it's okay. Easy to maintain, cheap parts, easy repair (if doing it yourself), good first car. Wish I paid a little less for it, but otherwise I'm happy with my car.Feb 17, 2009

I have over 250k on it now. Only big replacement was the tranny. I switched it out from a wrecked one. Its still movin'. My 21 year old used it while in school. He even raced it on the 1/4 mile, stock. My 18 year old has it now.

Excellent engineering. Cheap parts. I replaced the water pump on it in just a couple hours with little effort. Comfortable. It wont impress but it will definitely take you anywhere without having to worry about gas prices. The 1.9 liter DOHC delivers decent power to the front and handling couldn't be better. I've seen mouths open with disbelief in the rearview when they cant catch up.May 11, 2008

I liked this little saturn but everything about it was cheap. By the time it got into my hands it had plenty of issues. It would overheat if it sat at idle (or ran below 20mph on a hot day), it burned oil, and the transmission would violently slam into gears once the revs got high enough. It handled well and was kind of fun in winter, but it was lack-luster in nearly every arena. It is now sitting behind a shed at my parents house. It still runs (even after being flooded once by my sister) but has FAR too many issues to be a daily driver.Feb 22, 2008

I loved this car. Apart from the body breaking because it is plastic I LOVE the plastic body .. NO RUST. And the engine was great. Got the car for $350 and had it for years. Never died or had a problem except for alternator!Feb 10, 2008

I have had this car for about 6 years now. It is paid for. It is dependable. When gas prices go up, I can still fill my tank and get where I'm going. This car has been dependable. It is a 4 cylinder mom-car but sporty looking with a little zip. I have packed 3 kids, 3 dogs and camping gear in it and up the mountain we go.Dec 02, 2007

Why does my car have no power while driving?
I replaced my piston rings,all gaskets including the intake manifold gasket,fixed all vaccum leaks,new plugs and wires,new coolant sensor and wire plug,new pcv valve,coolant flush and got the air bubbles out,new egr valve,map sensor,checked all relays and basically overhauled the whole engine. The problem was the same even before doing everything to it. It has some power when I initially take off driving but soon cuts out and starts kind of bogging. I am at a loss as to what the problem is and im trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic and having a diagnostics test done as I have stuck so much money it it already
