Lovely feeling of acceleration when the turbocharger charges from low (1750->) revs. Acceleration from 80kmh to 120kmh is excellent for its displacement. in other words the car has good low rpm torque (185nm@1750-4500 stock). It only has 120hp stock, but boosting of performance is easy; just turn the wastegate rod and get way more power and torque to 3500-5500rpm area. Also lightweight (only 1070kgs). So don't just look at the numbers of the engine or you'll leave behind!
Good handling at turns, although too mild regular suspension kills the loveliness in corners. Unclear feeling at middle part of steering, so driving on highway is not as pleasing as it would be in a bigger Volvo. Also the regular seat doesn't offer much of side support. Brakes are effective and have good feel.
Rusts like a 80's japanese and electricity bucks like in a french car. Quality way behind big Volvos.
Speaking of turbocharged cars, this isn't a thirsty one 7,5-8 litres/100 km combined if in good shape. Cheap to purchase, cheap spare parts, cheap tuning.
The car is wonderful when all troubles (eg. troubling instrument panel) are fixed. This was for the 1,7 turbo variant of Volvo 460. Otherwise look my Volvo 460 2,0 SEDec 22, 2010

I like its performance, high mileage, driveability, looks, equipment, seats, low revs on highway. etc.
What I dislike in it is that the quality is not comparable to other Volvos.
I don't like its chassis, because it's too soft for me.Apr 27, 2010

It has proved to be a very reliable car that also gives a
rather save feeling to drive.
Even though it doesn't seem to be a very fast car at first,
it can be surprisingly vivid with the throttle pushed down.
It is a bit thirsty perhaps. But it ran on LPG so...
I like the leather interior, but the suspension is pretty
though and too soft at the back. Resulting in driving with
the springs completely down when you take a few friends
and some luggage.
The original Volvo radio is very nice.
The gearbox-changes are pretty difficult when it's cold. It
gets better when warmed up, but the first always is rather
hard to get into (worn synchros?) and the fifth isn't always
easy to find.Dec 16, 2009
