1992 Citroen AX Reviews, Pricing & Specs

My Citroen Ax was certainly not my first choice for a car, but circumstances and vans got in the way of that and as such I am now the happy owner of a 1.1 Citreon AX Echo. Firstly I will say its not a car for people who aren't into cars, its build quality is awful and its noisey and very basic. But I like to view it as eccentricity. Its incredably comfortable negating the problem of modern motoring that is speed bumps and upto about 60mph it accelerates very quickly with a fantastic tone similar to that of a 90's touring car. Combine this with a 5 speed 'box and a kerb weight of just over 700kg and you have a nippy little hatch. Dont be fooled into thinking its sporty though, between 60 and 70mph it can have vibrations caused by what I believe is the shape of the body work, (though this could be poor wheel alignment it is 16 years old!!!) and the suspension being soft doesnt lend itself to cornering. The body work also lends itself to being pushed about by areodynamic forces you can feel it when you overtake a lorry for instance. Fuel econamy is good about 40mpg at the minute but you need to offset this extra money saved for any services/ MOT's. They are very flimsy. It cost me over £200 to get it through its MOT with no service! My passenger door doesnt shut properly, the knob has come off my fan controller and its got many squeeks and rattles. But dont be put off, Its a fantastic experiance theyre cheap so what are you waiting for?Sep 29, 2008
